the potential in south america

I just realized that I’m bragging and I would like to say that I respect all growers and breeders of this magical plant from every corner of the planet. Because when it comes down to it we all love the same thing. So grow this scared herb the best you can and enjoy it to its fullest cause that’s what I’m doing up here in the Colombian Andes.

Peace and respect

Finland

Hola FM, Finland must be very interesting and your close to Holland. I loved living in Europe (Germany) but it sure was cold.
Here in the central Andina region of Colombia the temps stay moderate (no freeze) all year round and even though I miss the "seasons" it must be the perfect climate here for humans and plants.

Peace

No you're not, at least I interpret your posts as genuine emotions and personal experiences. Just consider yourself fortunate. The only reason why anyone would point a finger at you is because of your mind-blowing pictures.

Also, what's the point in being close to Holland. I'm in Holland and let me tell you it's the same sh*t wherever you go. Yeah I may have a coffeeshop nearby, but lets face it, the industry has become a free-haven for opportunist criminals who don't care what happens to the end-users. As long as they can make big bucks today they couldn't care less about normalisation tomorrow. The weed over here tends to be contaminated with additives to make it heavier more and more often, the government is still trying to bring down anyone who tries to grow something for personal use, the stereotype image of a cannabis smoker has not changed one bit, penalties are getting higher, the list goes on and on... The sheer volume of cannabis affiliated operations in this country has ruined the market, slowly killing any goodwill that was created in past years. No man, I'd rather live somewhere where there's less focus on cannabis so I could do my thing in silence. I doubt I'd miss the zillions of hybrids, all up to a certain extent descendants of the colchicine induced powerful Skunks. It doesn't matter what you pick up from a coffeeshop here, it'll all get you incredibly stoned, but it's a very 'flat' stone most of the time. Just paralysing, no body to it. If you've got the right connections you shouldn't have a lot of trouble finding some nice strains to grow, no matter where in the world you are. Sure I still feel privileged to live where I do, but the political and social climate for growing cannabis is deteriorating fast because of all the commerce involved and personally I wouldn't mind living in a country where cannabis is not such a hot-topic. It's gone a bit over the top here if you ask me.

But my apologies for the rant. Just wanted to point out that living amongst tenthousands of other growers does not necessarily produce the ideal circumstances for growing cannabis. Yeah I can get my hands on basically anything that I need for growing and I won't be sentenced to death if I'm caught, but I don't want to be sentenced at all for growing some plants you see? Holland's no Sodom and Gomorra, but it's no Nirvana either. Just be happy if you're able to grow, wherever you are located, and count your blessings. :bandit:

Thanx @ Muddy and Zamalito for the background info. I look forward to seeing more of this strain. And good luck with those beans!

Greetings from the cold and commercially infested weird little country below sea-level... :bat:

Red, you weren't bragging at all. C99 and g13 hybrids (isn't killa queen c99 x g13?) pale in comparison to the top 1% of landrace products in a good portion of the tropics. My question was more in reference to things you'd previousply said about a lack of hybridization in almost everything you've seen there and which regions displayed frequent hybridization. I wouldn't dare go galavanting around colombia without the help of someone I could trust 100%. Its just that I'm getting varying reports of how much hybrization there is even inside the country among what's available to colombians.

The hybridization of Colombia

The hybridization of Colombia

Hola zamalito from my perspective from what I've obtained since I've been living here, most of the domestically produced marijuana (available to the average Colombian) is indeed some type of "hybrid" and is of medium potency. Its fresh and lightly compressed, seeded(sometimes lots sometimes sprinkles) and comes in a variety of colors and aromas. It's just like the late 1970's before the Colombian export turned into the crappy mersh we all remember. Now the few random times I did run up on some "really" good connoisseur quality, the weed was lightly compressed like the others but the high(s) produced were of a much higher quality, remarkably so. The bottom line is that there has/is a lot of hybridization in Colombia (I can't tell you specific regions cause I don't know) but at the same time there are many "undiscovered" sweet spots, their just very hard to find. I hope to give you more info. as I collect it.

maxdrumm, beautiful exotic bud!

Mad Scientist, I love your posts sir! You really tell it like it is.

Herbalistic, its good to see you my friend!

Peace from Colombia

I really think in years to come folks will really appreciate your efforts red, tracking down the very best colombian strains, they need to be preserved and spread around these priceless landraces.

Zam, what you're trying to do is worthy indeed, to preserve these gems.

Everyday when I smoke this Colombian I remember the good folks who made it possible for me, in a tiny room in a remote corner of England to be growing under lights genetics from the tropics, now I have tried this one I really want to get my hands on the other golds, reds, blacks etc. Bring em on guys, they will find a loving home here!

This is a wonderfull smoke, landrace hybrid....paraguay/corinto/mexico X ethiopia/malawi

spanning 3 continents, 4 language groups, 5 countries, 6 vertical meters, 7 years, 8 oceanic currents, 9 biblical prophesies... hermano maxi wins the muddy waters 2007 hybrid of the year. seriously max did you breed that all by yourself? congratulations on that, man. and it looks like it would send one right to the source.

I really want some of that purple Colombian, that looks gorgeous.

Muddy, you crack me up, stirring up extra interest in your beans by adding purple kush to the name, you should run a seedbank with marketing skills like that! lol

no affiliation whatsoever with Seedsman, but I notice the Colombian Red hybrid is now going for a song

yet another strain to subject to the ignomony of 12/12 from seed

Muddy maybe we could pool resources for a major project I have under way here - I call it: "The Peter Falk Purple Uncle Kush"

ngakpa- you knew i was breeding uncle purple's lumbo columbo why'd you have to go and rip me off like that?

max-ahh yes i remember these things from og ... well it is a beautiful plant... i plan to do some sativa crosses too, afro-latin american style

ganico- yes well for my foundation i'm afraid the price will be a little bit higher than that but just remember, it's not for me, it's for my foundation.

I just talked to an anthropologist who is going to take me into the same santo daime cult where the santa maria/planck cutting came from so we can get the real santa maria strains in seed form for preservation. We"re also planning to meet with a few cannabis using indigenous indian groups along with afrobrazilian cults of the northeast. I don't think I've even scraped the surface of the cannabis strains available in Brazil. This is all very exciting. It sounds like I will be able to afford to make a quick trip to Colombia this month also. Of course I'm always in need of a good portuguese translator (calling muddy waters to the white courtesy telephone...) I guess I'm also bragging. It seems to be going around eh redrider?
