Hey, thanks for checkin out my little thai grow. It has been raining very hard here the past few days. Some of the plants were knocked over, nothing to serious. I'll post a few more pics this weekend. 2 of the 3 Thais are confirmed girls. One of the Goldfingers has taken on a strong skunky smell - from the afghani genes on the flo side I imagine.
I've got some new soil made up that has been sitting for about a month, I will put the Thai's into the clay pots this weekend as well.
J-roc,
You are a character from my favourite TV show. Sadly its not on TV here in Thailand, I download it. haha
Yah about showing surrounds here...no...but I will post some pics of places I've been in Thailand...when I take some more. My harddrive crashed out and I lost everything.
Hey Thaiphoon I just saw this thread tonite. I'm on Koh Chang 6 months of the year.
I saw in your early posts you were experimenting with coco mixes...
I learned the hard way that the local coco (shredded large and small chunks, in bags) is processed in seawater. If not COMPLETELY washed out it retains all that salt and causes saline burn, Mg and CA defiencies among other bad stuff.
Hey there everyone, thanks for checking out my grow here.
hey rabid, Koh chang is a lovely place, I was there in October. I don't think I would go back tho...too commercial now I don't think my local coco is processed in seawater because the sea is so very far away...I do wash my coco at least twice tho..just to be safe. It must be nice to be on Koh Chang for 6 months at a time tho...I guess a nice place away from the tourists would be ok!
Little update info...
One of the Thai plants is a true hermie...I am just plucking the nuts off of it for now. I may cull the katoey if it gets out of control. I think the other 2 Thai's are female.
I have collected pollen from JLP's SDxOG plants and have pollinated some Cali-O and Goldfinger buds. Should make for some interesting seeds!
Here is a dirty shot of the "katoey". That is the Thai word for a transvestite - not quite the same a hermaphrodite...close enough.
I've been plucking the sacs off of it as I see them grow. I want to keep this one just for smokes sakes! If the sacs become unmanageable, I'll cull her/him .
Ok, now I have some second thoughts as to what that Mystery Strain is. The unlabeled sprout I THOUGHT was Cali- O may not be. My two KNOWN Cali-O look very similar. This mystery plant is quite different. Could it be a Mississippi Mud? a Johnny Blaze? or another pheno of the Cali-o?
Mystery...
Cali-O...
And here are some Goldfinger flowers...
one at approx 8 weeks flowering....(4ish more weeks to go)

I had to cull the Thai plants... They were getting to big for security reasons. I have also had to move Cali-O to another spot because of security. They are not getting as much sunlight now...hopefully I can move them to a better spot in the not to distant future.
damn thai thinks are rockin here, sorry to hear the thais had to be cut. made me sad for one moment the rest are looking great, the mystery one does not look like a cali-o to me. not one ive ever seen before.
Hey ThaiPhoon...I need to talk to you about worms and wormcastings in Thailand. I can't PM you because I don't have 50 posts. So shoot me a PM OK?
rabid
A little update: I harvested the seeded Goldfinger. I have made a lot of seeds. I used the pollen from JLP's SDxOG cross on this one. I also made seeds using the mystery strain, which I now think (again ) is JLP's Mississippi Mud...We'll see how these grow out once they are dry!!
The family expands! Good to see those ThaiPhoon - can't wait to hear and see what the finished plant looks like! I'm taking a clone of the best Goldfinger male to my friend's tomorrow for flowering, so hopefully I can get a pile of pollen, for further research! There's a safety clone going to another grower too...
It has been very wet and rainy the past few days here. Usually rains at night and the sun shines during the day. I had to harvest the other mg2xf2 early because the buds started to rot. I think I caught them before they got too bad.
The mg2xf2 buds are not as fluffy as the mg1xf1 ones. The other Goldfinger plants have no sign of the brown rot. Here are some pics of the early one I had to chop...
Even after being in a jar for a few days it tastes great. Very earthy, and like fruity tobacco or something! It's very unique tasting for me, I have not tasted anything similar. It's fantastic and the taste is kind of addictive!
I will grow out the crosses next. I hope to keep some Goldfinger for some long term cure to let the full flavours come out, but I don't think I have the patience!
