I have done more reading about using the rice husk charcoal. Instead of using so much with just coconut husk, I added roughly 1 part to 5 parts in the compost. So when I re-pot I will use basically the LC#1 mix substituting some of the ewc with the rice husk charcoal compost. The reason for the change is that humus in the mixture is far more important than the rice husk charcoal!
This morning I fed all the plants with a basic ewc/molasses bubbled tea. I added about 1ml of pure coconut juice(NOT milk) to about 1 liter to the tea pre-bubble. The plants LOVED it..all day their leaves were pitched up to the sun! Just for shits and giggles do a Google on the nutritional facts for coconut juice..the clear water inside the coconut...It is amazing stuff. It is very versatile! I will be drinking more of it myself. The coconut juice I use is from mature coconuts I get off the ground...these have less sodium than the young ones. The mature coconuts yield far less juice, but I have hundreds of them so its not a big deal. I could go on and on about coconuts, but this really isn't the place..
please do go on about the coconuts, it is most interesting...got any pics?? ... i have two coconuts right now, 1 regular and 1 white, very different..and cool...i can provide pics if u like...
i lost a long post due to database probs? but suffice it to say...i am keenly interested in any cultural/social/daily life type details, i find it fascinating....are you an' yer lady still holdin out w/ the last harvest? how did it cure? how is the quality of the local ganja currently? consistent?
anyways--great thread, much love and good wishes sent out to you and yours...
I am actually on the very last bud of the last harvest! Last years harvest was taken in at least one month early. The taste has really mellowed with the cure. The effect is a little mellow compared to what I am used to for Thai, but I chalk that up to the early harvest. Thai has such a nice variety of flavours when rolled in a nice big joint! This last bud has a flowery/berry taste and hints of coffee and spice in there as well. I love it! I anticipate even better results this year. I have a better grasp on feeding them properly, and I have WAY better soil this round.
I am need of a resupply of smoke. I can't wait till the harvest!
thanks for the link, lots of cool info bout coconuts...
"YOUNG COCONUT: Young coconuts are sold still in the husk. You can recognize a young coconut by its pale, almost ivory color and by its conical shape at the top. Look for these in the refrigerated section or produce section of some health food and Asian markets. If you're surprised at how heavy they are, try pouring the coconut juice into a measuring cup--just make sure it's a large measuring cup."
i had no idea...i had never seen one before, and they are quite different than the mature coconut...i thought it was a different pheno!
the buds sounds great! sad to hear its gone but anticipation makes the fruit that much sweeter i guess...
heres a fatty of some purple urkel from norcal, that i would like to share with you...
this indica hybrid is so tasty, its like grape chocolate hash chunks soaked in coffee fuel that had a small skunk die nearby...
hi Evo, Man the purple urkel sounds tasty! That looks like a nice doobie as well!
Yup coconuts are pretty awesome things. The old ones I pick off the ground have about 30 ml of juice in them. I just drill a hole right in the middle of it and collect the juice in a plastic cup. I wish I had a drill press, that would make things easier!
I snapped a few shots of the leaves on the Thai strain I have going. The leaves are so..."cut"...I think they look so prehistoric and wild compared to the BlueMystic or Cali-o growing nearby. The Thais LOVE the organics so far!
I know, not as erotic as bud shots but hey, its still early!
I have been quite busy lately. My computer was in the shop being repaired.
It has been very very hot here and I think the Goldfingers suffered. I actually lost a few. The heat combined with a fucked feeding of my homemade organics which were way to potent. Also the stupid dog ate some leaves. I have remedied these issues I hope. I mix my home brewed bionutes with water and bubble them for a day or two to help stabilize the Ph. I have put up a chicken wire fence around the seedlings to keep the animal out! Hey if I was a dog I would eat cannabis too! Anyways I am pretty upset at the whole fiasco! I have 4 goldfingers left growing...2 mg2xf2 and 2 mg1Xf1 I have the BlueMystic plant, a few native Thais 2 Cali-O and that mystery plant which I really think must be another Cali-O. I'll get around to posting some pics when they look nicer! I am actually embarrassed by the state they are in now, so you can't see!
Well, I'm glad you're OK, that's the main thing. I still keep away from home-made nutes, as I don't have a clue, and it can be a risky business if it don't work!
As for the dog...well...
I hope the Goldfingers pull through - I'm smoking the first buds now, and it's sublime - very up and euphoric, but very smooth with no 'janglies'. It'll be much better after a couple of weeks in a jar, but this is great for one week drying!
All of the plants are doing well again. Just a few shots of the babies. It has been cooler and rainy here and that has really helped green these ones up again. I was able to get a bottle of humic acid the other day, and I will be adding that into the teas. I am going to a shop today that is supposed to have some fulvic acid. Here are some pics:
Some interesting finds in the garden this morning. I noticed I had two GIRLS!!
One of the Goldfingers and the Blue Mystic are both showing female preflowers now! Here are a few shots of the garden...
The BlueMystic has been topped once already...at this early state of flowering can I still Top the Goldfinger, or have I missed the operation window?
