Alaskalive- Looks like you are on your way, glad I could help the cause. Just remember when you transplant to go light on the nutes, I have burned hundreds of plants feeding to heavy, to early. If you have a EC/PPM meter use it to test both your #'s going in during feedings and also check your run off EC.

Large colas come from alot of different factors including but not limited to- Genetics which is probably the biggest factor, temps, humidity, light intensity/type of light, etc . . . . But please dont think big buds automatically equals great smoke. The majority of strains I have grown that develop huge baseball bat nugs are complete schwag to smoke. Some of the best herb I have grown were small yielding strains. The best way to find your niche is to document everything you use and everything you do and just grow, grow and grow some more and you will be fine. I have learned the most through set backs and mistakes that equal up to poor grows, the key is in not repeating those mistakes and even still everyone of us will make new mistakes/missteps.

Not really sure on how many days those are in those pics? but I will try and post some more pics of Pro-Mix tricks I use.

Great thread! I'm on my way to the store to get supplies. Long time passive hydro grower, ready to make the switch. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so much. One question I've got though is if I'm running 3g smartpots w/ ProMix, Perlite ~10%, EWC, then shall I water occasionally with a guano tea or a compost tea...or just plain water?

promix bx straight out of the bag
used to add chunky perlite to make it 3:1 promix/perlite....
but its easier and the same results for me to just go from the bag into the pot

the thing i love about soilless is having total control of what the plants are eating. not only what they are eating, but when they are eating it.

if the local ace doesnt have the bale (@$49... and don't think about trying to get on the web & shipped to HI cheaper) and true value is out, i will concede and use sunshine #4 @ $49. but that has too much stick in it... promix bx is way better i feel better using it always hahaha

i proudly feed liquid salts and rock the shit out of my plants.
fox farms grow big with a little cal/mag & rhizo in veg
canna COCO a/b, a pk13/14 (canna, or my preferred - b'cuzz), some golden tree, and some sweet.
ph in range between 5.9 & 6.2 and fucking fire!
water them every couple days when they are getting light, and everything is alright

I was originally using tiger bloom as my flower food (per Crazy Composer's prior use) and was getting great results. But I had a 5L of Coco A/B laying around, and figured - what the hell.

I too am using Canna COCO a/b, and pk13/14 but I have also added some Budswel and Xtreme Mykos MYCORRHIZAI. I threw in some extra molasses to feed the root bugs... BELOW is a photo or 2 and on the 24th it was 3 weeks into flwr. I only have 1 600 watt light so I am doing the best I can.. I do not have those other things you listed.. but will check into them! Thanks to YOU and all who post here.. I am reading and taking note of EVERYTHING you all post!!!! I love gardening!!!

I wish I could learn how to get those big, fat monster colas.. like as big around as a coke can!!! I guess that gives me a reason to live... lol

What brand EWC are u using.. I went and found Budswel... highly rated but it is for flower only???
Would be interested to know. I have read some posts of growers who said they added ewc and their buds went crazy!!! I do not run out and get everything avery one posts.. but I have seen a lot of ppl live by ewc in their mix! I have the Black Strap Molasses but could not afford the Excellurator! That junk is pricy!!!

Since I am just growing for the pleasure and science of doing it right.. could not justify the cash outlay for Excellurator- But I did snag some ORCA.. check that stuff out!!! Thanks again for contributing to the thread.. loving all the great info!!!

Pro Mix HP was just a little too light for my liking because of the extra small perlite. The BX has less perlite but that is why you add it back in I prefer a 1-1-1 ratio of BX /Chunky Perlite/ EWC. From my experiences the chunkier the perlite the better anchored the plant will be in the soil mix, bigger fatter stalks which in turn equal heavier yields. Also ample amounts of perlite allow the roots to breathe and provide good drainage. The EWC castings do many things but for me most importantly they get the party started with the microherd which for me means everything to the end results. Pro Mix says that the mix already has mykos added to it but I try and go overboard with adding beneficials as in Great White powder every feeding up until 2 weeks into flower, good amounts of humic and fulvic and your on your way. Like I said I use as many different bennies to get the hyphy jumping, Granular Mykos during every transplant-Root Excellurator-Black Strap Molasses and your on your way.

Sorry for getting the thread off track earlier but sometimes i cant help it, if you were offended then what I said was directed directly at you. Internet tough talk is about the lamest thing around, trust me when I tell you I would say it directly to your face. Facts.

i find SS#4 holds the water for too long, gets soggy... compared to pro mix.

I won't do another run with SS#4 if i can help it

For store bought, Soil Mender EWC is very good, and it's castings, not vermicompost.

A really good alternative to Roots Excellurator is General Organics BioRoot. Affordable and works impressively. Good luck. -granger

here's a look at the veg team on the 3x6 (and some seedlings on the floor) in the veg room
i take them outside after sunrise and let them stay under the sun all day, moving them back inside at sunset, pending wind and rain of course.

Has anyone had, or is anyone currently using ORCA?
http://www.plant-success.com/index.php/mycorrhizal-products/orca.html

A friend said using Canna a-b.. ORCA and RapidStart will rock the plants!! So far so good.. but I did not yet get the Orca.. pretty exciting!
All of this I am using in my
70/30 Perlite/Promix BX

I use the Great White powder, sprinkle right on roots every trans plant and in a tea right before they go into flower. I like the stuff and get great results with it.

Xtreme Mykos is a good product, I use it when transplanting the granular works better for me when transplanting while I use Great White for every feeding all through veg and the first 2 weeks of flower.

I treat it like dirt
When it's dry - feed
I always feed.... Unless it's the end of the cycle and I'm flushing

Curious how others use it and max out performance...

I guess I got screwed.. Orca is watered down great white! That sucks.. paid 33 bucks for Orca.. could have spent a little more and got Great White!!! Oh well, now I have this Orca.. so will use it till it is gone!!!
