Wish I could find Fox Farm in my area.

I've drilled a bunch of 1/8 inch holes in the bottom of a 6 gallon bucket, fill it 3/4 full of perlite put the lid on and shake the hell out of it over a pool. I do this outside.

90% of the dust is gone and whats left is at the bottom of the bucket, which I don't use.

Whats left on top is the chunkiest stuff.

Kind of a pita and far from perfect but I've done this for a while, when needed.

Great point Hold Your Fire, Definitely need the respirator or mask for mixing in that perlite but I do have a trick that helps a little. Add the perlite into the kiddie pool first and then put the pro mix on top before mixing this seems to cut down on all the perlite dust floating at least in half.

I only deal with the 3.8 compressed bales which can be a pain in the ass to move around so I like to hit it with a razor across the middle, the whole bale will cut like butter and can be split to make the weight more manageable especially if carrying up or down flights of stairs. I'm in pretty good shape and never slack away from a little labor and still have to do the pep talk to myself before carrying a bale for more than 50 ft and then when finished I curse myself out and go smoke. That is the worst part of dealing with Pro Mix especially if you dont have a pull in garage or cant use a dolly.

I hear ya bro'!

Up and down stairs with a bale of pro-mix is A LOT harder at 41 than it was when I was younger!!!!! :)

Its like $40 for a bag of inncoculated peat moss with some perlite.

I'd rather buy a 3.3 cubic foot bag of premiere peat for $12, add aeration and buy a pound of myco from buildasoil for $25 to do the very same thing at better cost.

Do you "lime" the Premeir Peat? Do you add any kind of humus...vermicompost, compost, etc?

When I first started the mix I'm using now it was basically just peat, perlite, 6-9-0 bone meal with added Calcium. I used Neptune's Harvest Fish&Seaweed every watering bubbled for at least 24hrs, as well as the ocassional coconut water added to that. It's gotten much better after a few cycles. Saw a mushroom coming from my Pure Kush pot a couple weeks ago :)

Now I'm top dressing with aged compost and ewc, making kelp/alfalfa meal teas, and malted barley teas. My plants are loving it.

Gonna be trying a 15gal no till this year with peat moss/lava rocks/compost+ewc/coots mix with top dressings and teas.

I get regular perlite in a 4 cu ft bag. Bag is tightly woven plastic. I use a watering can with rose and sprinkle the perlite so there is no dust to breathe. Works well. Any wet perlite left in the bag dries out quickly. Doesn't go funky. Wet perlite mixes easily. Good luck. -granger

QUESTION:

When does a person start counting the days in flower:
1.The day they switch to 12/12 light schedule
2.The first full day in 12/12 light schedule
3. One week after switching to 12/12 light schedule when the plants actually begin to flower?

Having trouble knowing for sure how many weeks into flower I am by not knowing the answer to the above..

Is this a stupid question?
Below see photo of 3 wks into flwr
I only have a 600 watt light...I guess these girls look okay?

The answer is (1.) anything else just wouldn't be a true accounting of time in 12/12. (2.) wouldn't make a difference and (3.) would be an inaccurate account of time.

That sounds awesome... love to see a photo or 2 of the buds like around week 4?

A photo just for the heck of it!!! These plants are so beautiful!!! Fun to grow!
Life is good!
So far, Promix BX, 30 percent Perlite, Canna A&B, PK 13/14, Budswell Worm Castings and daily attention!!! And oh yes... Orca! seem to be doing well.

I have to say, the transformation of the Promix BX medium from what it looks like in the package, to what it looks like now...OMG, this stuff looks like light fluffy soil now! Beautiful to say the least.

I am growing in the 50 cent Walmart Bags instead of those 6 dollar a piece Smart Pots.. Each bag is like 3 gallons or more.. but hey, 50 cents each!!!

Very exciting to stick a fork down in the outside rim of the container and feel tons of ROOTS!!! I love PROMIX BX!!!

I have a question:
I am using this promix bx.
In flower I am feeding my nutrients.
The last 2 weeks of flower I will flush with pure water.
The question. Will that medium I used for FLOWER be good to use again to start my veg of new clones?
Just wondering!
I am not growing to sell this stuff so I am hoping I can re-use the promix because here the 4 cu ft pkg is 50 bucks!!! Cannot afford to be buying that a lot!!!

I've given up on unmixed peat. Too much dust and work. Too inconsistent.

Opinion: Promix good
