its ok... basic peat mix replicated by many nurseries/companies with their own twist or straight....if you need large amounts your better off with a cement mixer bales of peat and additives some free time...I managed to fit a whole pallet of bales in a van once..peat that is..yeehaw..the front was filled with perlite...nowadays I make small amounts of my own soil

the GH floranova line is great i have really love it for veg but for flower it seems to need a little extra for me also im pretty sure the main ingredient in floralicious plus is just a 160$ bottle of kelp

The flower part is def more than just that. I've done runs with the basic 2 part without additives and results were fire. The flower part also has some good amont of nitrogen in it. Some people in this forum just use the part of the floranova by itself throughout the whole grow with great results. With floranova since it's very thick the main thing I've noticed with it is that each use it needs to be shaken well in order to mix properly. There is some thick sediment left on the bottom unless mixed well. It's a great 2 part nutrient that works good with promix

mine always come in a box and it has a metal attachment for the drill to stir in the box if thats not a sign to mix well than i dont know what is

Its like $40 for a bag of inncoculated peat moss with some perlite.

I'd rather buy a 3.3 cubic foot bag of premiere peat for $12, add aeration and buy a pound of myco from buildasoil for $25 to do the very same thing at better cost.

I hear you Canna. But you do need to spend a bit of extra effort to dial in the pH, I have measured sphagnum peat moss starting pH here in So Cali as low as 3.6 and high as 5. That is a very wide range and I found myself adding even more liming agents to my custom grow medium that...that should have been ready to use (but not with pH below 6). It was a pain in the ass to "remix" already "mixed" moist grow medium and then "wait another week" for the pH to rise. For some reason the bales of ProMixBX I get, the pH consistently measure 6.0 - 6.1. Never in the 5s...or 4s, very little variability.

BTW, the 3.8 cft of PromixBX is "compressed" and will explode to about 7 cft and I pay $38 a bale. A similar compressed bale of sphagnum peat moss is about half that...so the price difference is real--but probably pencil out to be same when everything is calculated. Hehehehehehe...either way, sure beats the price of bagged "ready to go" potting soil!

mix a bag of HP promix to a few bags of chicken manure, they grow about twice their size each week with this mixture. As far as nutrients go, cant beat the price on Jacks Professional + Calcium Nitrate.

Ive only ever bought "Premier" Brand Peat Moss... Which is the same peat moss that is used in Promix... Same compressed 3.8cu bale as promix for a portion of the price and without the additives. Perlite is essentially useless as it floats to the top. I'd rather spend the rest of that money on some meals, rock dusts, mycos ect.. to amend the sphagnum peat with rather than putting it into a new bale of promix every run.

My only gripes is hydrating and rehydrating the peat. Sometimes that can be a bitch.

Been recycling the same two bales for a year now and haven't tested my pH once. In fact I don't even have a meter or a pH kit on hand haha.

I treat it like dirt
When it's dry - feed
I always feed.... Unless it's the end of the cycle and I'm flushing

Curious how others use it and max out performance...

Agree completely with that statement, I also feed every watering. Each environment is different but after using FWF (Feed-Water-Feed) method for years I prefer to feed every watering, the key as to everything in life is moderation. Each strain has its own sweet spot in terms of EC levels and environment. I have been one for years who over fertilized I would push, push, and push EC levels 2.2-2.6 with elevated CO2 at 1500 ppm and yes it will produce monster yields but quality will plummet just like the Colorado dispensary herb. I think that is where the biggest mistake using Pro Mix comes in, Pro Mix is so forgiving to the plants that you can OD on nutes and still produce buds that may "look" ok.

Dialing back the nutes and CO2 levels is the key for me I still use a bunch of different nutes and boosters (PBP 2-3-5 beginning of flower and Soil 1-4-5 from middle on Bud Ignitor-Big Bud-Monster Bloom-Florolicous Bloom 1-1-1, Fox Farm Big Bloom, Killer Tea, Liquid Karma, Aptus Fasilitator, Rock Resinator, Terpinator, Hygrozyme, SOS, Budfactor X, GH CaMg+ and a few more and definitely not in that order . . . I just dial back the #'s on each so I can still feed my babies my top secret KFC recipe just in much better portions. I now like to keep my EC at 1.4-1.8. Doing this, when I flush with plain water for the last 2 weeks I dont have to use tons of extra water to get my run off EC's down before harvest. Now when flushing I use the same amount of water as when feeding instead of 3x that amount.

Just my 2 cents

I guess I got screwed.. Orca is watered down great white! That sucks.. paid 33 bucks for Orca.. could have spent a little more and got Great White!!! Oh well, now I have this Orca.. so will use it till it is gone!!!
I love you guys.. thanks for all the info.. is so great to have ppl to talk to about this stuff who know what they are talking about..

Thanks for taking the time to post info and photos... Looking forward to doing the things I am learning here to make MONSTER BUDS lol.. never as good as growing outside in sunshine.. but will have to do!!! Was 19 below zero today in my neighborhood!!! Yeah.. -19 below zero.. not too good of a climate for growing outdoors!!!

Wow -19 much respect, I will never complain again about the cold. Orca will definitely get the job done, and may I suggest getting some Blackstrap Molasses it is an excellent source of carbs/fuel for your growing Microherd. Most grocery stores have it and plenty of grow stores carry it also I use Earth Juice Hi Brix its relatively cheap at around $10-$15 a gallon 2-4 ml per gallon really gets the microherd going hyphy.

Much respect and good vibes from the East Coast to West Coast to Hawaii to Alaska and beyond to infinity. Thank You IC Mag for being a encyclopedia of growing information, after 8yrs on the site I still learn something new everytime I log on whether that be what to do or more importantly what not to do. Information=Power

Salute AlaskaLive as a city guy I get a big laugh out of watching shows like Drugs Inc episodes in the so called "streets" with frauds, actors, and Lies/Liars ie (Marijuana Mayhem - Sour Diesel) or (Chicago-Windy City High) what do you think of all of my favorite shows based in Alaska? Are they authentic (Life Below Zero-Gold Rush-Alaskan Bush People-Deadliest Catch) because they are the only shows I watch and never got a chance to ask someone from Alaska. Sorry to go off topic.

Since I add nothing to my promix except worm castings(wiggleworm) and some gypsum, I was just curious how much WC everyone is using in say 5gal smarty's for example?

I use wiggleworm also at a ratio of 1 cup per gallon of pro mix/amended pro mix. The 5 gallons get 5 cups the 15 gallons get 15 cups etc .... honestly you cant OD on EWC.

Yeah I think I'm a bit heavier and have been splitting one bag to 6, 7gal smarty's that works out to 5lbs to each 7gal smarty.
I do it a bit heavier because I veg for at least 60 days. and get some explosive growth with a bit more, and can feed, water, feed in veg. :canabis:

I have to transplant into 5 gallon buckets on Saturday. Going to experiment with a new mix.

Into a kiddie pool I'll add three 5 gal buckets of promix bx, two 5 gal buckets of Perlite, and one 5 gallon bucket of EWC.

Might be heavy on the perlite but ewc can be soggy.
