CoCo's :

what about this one:

http://growershouse.com/gavita-digistar-electronic-digital-ballast-600w-240v

It's 240v, over here the norm is 220v. would work right?

Also, the bulb Agrolite Gro&Flo 600w will work with this one? (found locally)

Maybe I can get it with a bulb from that site.

You should have no problem. Is your plus the same as a 240? Sideways prongs?... if so yes that ballast will work, it works from 90-240 volts im pretty sure. I have to go out but ill look at the boxes when I come home.

Lol hows the fan combo? Noisy?

Ah and be super careful picking bulbs. Must be "e ballast compatable" for digostars I only use the new hortilux lamps that say e ballast (their gold ballast is super similar to a digistar so hortilux bulbs work for digistars) or I use the gavita enhanced. Order the enhanced at the same time they are half the price of hortilux and designed for that ballast. I bought hortilux because my store carries them. Good bulbs but I wish I ordered the gavitas...

If you are avoiding noise gavitas are great they are silent. Thank you microprocessors...

Oh my shops got a gavita pro sitting around that was a demo thwy will let got of for 200 canadian. Im stoked buddy says no one will take it its 240. Yeah well I own a ls2 so I dont give a shit, plus it would take me 15 minutes to run a 240 line and plug if I run a surface wire...

update: one of my sensistars was a mutant, it flowered crappy without trichs and some random male flowers. had to remove it asap from the tent.

And about the tent, I have lower temps than I would like, had to turn back the fan to like 40% or less, the cool tube is overkill inside the tent, at least those late winter days. not so like in summer but at least now. I like higher temps inside. The other 2 are doing great, the biggest and the smallest.
One is a killer indica and the other a sativa. (WTF). It smells like Nebula sativa.

My temps are between 80-90, to more closely mimic the natural area the sativas I preffer hail from. Everyone thinks 90-100 kills plants, some actually theive in it and are designed to handle it with no peoblem.

Mandalas strains are fairly heat resistant. Especially satori

yes a bit in full speed, at night I set it back to 40% pretty quiet. its doing fine. the sensistars are packing good.

thx. today I had to speed up the fan as it was warmer than I wanted after a nice sunny day. everything is holding up pretty good.
I found at the local growshop some nice seeds: Kandy Kush from Reserva privada, maybe I take them a try.

I like the look of kandy kush. Tw x kush cant go wrong... maybe you will finfld a good momma. Lol actually I just had several good infusions of seed to my collections. A big trafe, bought a pack of someones jack (he included a couple chocholate cheese freebies. Cool. Also ordered from attitude. Thats where the skywalker is coming from, im also getting a pack of sour nightmare kush (sin city) a sigle fem sssdh, and a ghost train haze single fem.

Seeds are always fun. I never tried kandy kush but I may

sounds pretty good. Iam in the fence between a Kosher Kush and Kandy Kush. I think I will go with the kosher, and maybe an Atomical Haze from Paradise, if I can afford them lol they are $$$ over here. I would luv to get those 2 strains, a good kush and a good haze.
The sensi star indica pheno I have is getting big bud, and the smaller is weak and small... but its full of resin and sativish, it smells just like the nebula, sweet sativa. weird as it came from the sensistar pack of 3 feminized seeds.

I used a can 50 in a 6x6 tent, with a cap 6in 460 cfm blower and you could smell it at the street the last few weeks of flower 35 ft from the house. I went to a can 150 with a 10 in blower when I went to a 10x12 room. my strains are fucking loud as fuck. I guess this is why the paralyzed veteran next door, nicely extorted me for a j or 2 every couple weeks for 3 years. I didn't mind though, he lost the ability to walk, so I could be free not a big deal.

Sounds like you may have not achieved proper negative pressure or something. I can stand right next to a 3x3 tent with a 6"x16" phresh filter full of bud ready to be chopped or chopped and drying and smell nothing.

Prime example of someone who dosent know how to use a fan/filter combo. Dude I used a can 50 for a whole basement and you mean to tell me it didnt work in your 6x6 and had to use a 150 in a room smaller than my basement?

Back then I ran the serious stank. God bud, mexicali superskunk, super bud, lemon skunk, man my shit reeked...

Oh I just saw why! Ahahahaha dude your blower was way to fast for the filter, not enough contact time. thats so funny... dont you guys read packages and check max cfm? You could smell shit through your can 50 because you were over the max exhausting speed.

Man this is why you guys should read shit before "going overkill" cause thats the dumbest thing ive read in a while. Really one moment of reading a package and this poster wouldnt have needed to waste money buying bigger more expensive filters and fans when the can 50 was good enough for the 10x12! What a waste of 600 bucks good god.

That was totally preventable if this poster looked at the side of the fan amd filter and realized hes 40 cfm over max and thats not scrubbing hes wasting time amd money. Big time.

Im glad I read packages. I was just commenting on idiotic off label uses people come up with for hydro food. Guys read! Seriously you read and write here reading bottles and packs take 3 seconds.

Oh and op you said you dummy down your filter at night. Did you check to see is the fan cfm at that range is between the min and max the fan recommends? Thats how they work dude make sure you dont do like some others and do something thats super super silly...

yeah my setup is odorless, is incredible, I open the tent and they smell, but when I try to smell the exhaust duct -that is pointed to the outside-, is clean and oudor free. I couldnt belive it at first. this setup works awesome.
Ive tried it atmax speed and lowest speed, both ends provide fresh clean air. but yes I try to keep it at 80% at day and 50% at night, I hope is not overkill?

4x4x7 tent, 400cfm filter paired with 315cfm fan.
At the phresh website the cfm calculator shows 180cfm for my tent size, thats why I try to keep it atthose speeds

the phresh calculator is so it changes the air 3 times per minute so the plants can breath normally?

Good work bothering to check your cfm. Yeah your stuff is oversized and overkill (400 cfm gear for a space that needs less than half that I only use 137 cfm in the same size tent) but the right size for a 4x8 tent so you inadvertently bought a setup that will easily translate to a bigger tent and with the speed contlowered you are where you want to be. You should just leave your fan on around 60% at all times. Theres no point in changing it if it eats the smell at high and low setting right?

Reallyi would set that fan to 50% and I would have choose a smaller filter but if you decide to expand you have a filter and fan good for a tent twice the siz eof yours. Thats called lucky overkill.

Filters need to be replaced after 18 months of use, more often in dusty environment.

Well im glad it worked out for you, could have turned out worse and got something that was a waste of money. As long as you are happy with ut and it works, and it works properly in this tent and the next, well thats great... I fit fan and filter to tent but I see the point in buying something that works for your setup on its minimum, so you have room to expant. I have the cash to buy a setup per space but its a smart way to save.

yeah man thanks for all the help.
I didnt know where the speed should be at. It was like driving without seeing.
Now Iam sure that it doesnt need full speed unless there's something wrong with high temps, but not the case, maybe in mid summer...

so in the end it shouldn't go below 50% and no need for 100%, I will place it on 60% all time, maybe less at night sound-wise.

Just went there, opened the tent, and I still smell it on my fingers after exiting the room (I like to touch them and smell them lol), they are making full oudor by now. 100% satisfied with those filters, they do something priceless really, security-wise.

thanks again man, period.

I used a 395 cfm blower with the can 50 and it couldn't keep the 2 x1000 cool so I uped it to the 460. If a can 50 kept the smell of a basement full under wraps, you must be growing some dirt mexi . I know you're not getting 2x per minute air exchange in a basement with a can 50 not even close . Mabey you should talk to dhf about proper air exchange. I bet you lost a lot of product to mold pm and bud root with an air exchange rate. Especially in a basement, they probably need more than 2x air exchange with all the moisture from the earth surrounding the room.

Lol I dont rely on my exhaust for airflow for the whole basement. Ive never had mould in my life. My area is dry as a bone. Anyway if you knew how to use a filter properly you coild keep the craziest stink under control. Anyway you have no idea the size of the basement, and the fact it was completly sealed and had dehumidifier in the dryest city kn canada....

Nyway you made a mistake increasing your fan size to compensate for heat. A amafuer mistake. I wasnt blasying you personally, just your mistake amd using it as en example. Im not being a horses ass im using you ase a overkill cautionary tale, dont be so sensitive.

Your attempt to diss my stuff is funny dude. If you knew how filters work you wojld understand a can 50 is more sufficient for the most stank shit in a 6x6. im sure a fucking clown right! Whoo look at that mould and it looks like shit must not stink at all. Yo be less sensitive dog you made a mistake and flaming me back is juat funny man.

You have alot to learn, rather than argueing and trying to diss me why dont you check out what im saying. You should read about grow room design going over max filter cfm to deal with heat is... I wont even say it. Im not a asshole im trying to prove my argument from earlier in the thread overkill is pointless. You happened to bring to the table a perfect example. Sure I could have been nicer but I was trying to be to the point.

You dont really get it which is ok but your silly example allowed me to demonstrate what happens when you dont use a fan/filter properly and the op now learned a little on how to use them.

Cry all you want but you were helpful. So was I. Good day

My plants didn't like growing in a wind tunnel.
Someone read advice to exchange air every 3-5 minutes and started spreading around 3-5x per minute..
I ran it like that for years before wising up just recently. My plants have never been happier.
You're better off spending the extra $$ on cooling your intake air instead of getting bigger fans and filters. Too bad it took me so many years to realize it.
