There are soil drench directions but I'm not sure how effective it would be as I've never used as such. I've git a bottle of neem oil if I need that.

Your plants are getting eat up because they're the healthiest vegetation in the area.

It's probably too late this season but...
Create a patch of healthy vegetation away from your main crops, be they veges or cannabis, in order to use as a trap crop for the hoppers.

I've been harvesting- 1 Satori & 2 Double fun. Satori is Satori so I didn't do pics, nor of the one typical hybrid form double fun. The other flowered into strings of pearls-

That's a new one for me. It's actually very frosty. We'll see how it smokes. I'd hate to try to sell the stuff...
Crazy, first time I've seen that in 15 years. I remember someone coming by with a bag of purple flower like that.

Purely a genetic trait?

I need to hold the fuck up on dropping any more coin on seeds but I was watching that list. The main one I would be interested in would be the RKS x Chem. Fiyaaahh

I have been fighting the urge to do just that for over a month now. Oh, how i feel your pain. I thought i was starting to win until this one fat hopper looks like he spent all night just sitting on the ground munching away at the stem. This stem was almost an inch thick!

I had a really nice flower garden out there in June...It is mostly stem now. It is maddening. I just wish one stupid bird would find the feeders...i guess i need 2, 1 humming the other???

Some thing like chickens would help to defend the plants from the grasshoppers, if you could have some.

I even asked around about renting a couple of chickens. In the end, the codes are against me, i don't know if the cats might get them and i know nothing about taking care of them. Add problems with my health i don't think i should try.

I wonder if burning back everything during the winter would kill their eggs??? But it might decimate my ladybugs eggs also???

BTW, I am trying to get serious about searching for a legal block to actions. If any-one has knowledge of where i should go to start PLEASE let me know. Pm me if you don't want it out.

That might be something worth looking into. Lady bugs are cheap and easy enough to buy. Probably running into some code stuff/special permits there though? Worth a glance...

Apparently so. I had poor germination w/ the seeds & a poor M/F ratio. I pollinated a branch of the normal pheno for seeds. It was big & bodacious, a good yielder w/ classic hybrid form. I'm after strains (not crosses) that will do well in the Colorado outdoors. My personal circumstances simply prohibit the attempt but we have gardener friends who want to try it. Some of them don't even use the stuff so they'll be happy to let it go to seed so the line can be advanced. Dunno if Double Fun is worth the effort but it seemed like a good candidate.

The way to free the weed is to take the money out of it. If enough people grow outdoors it'll become de facto legal for home gardeners. I want it to be like growing tomatoes.

It probably won't be that way in what's left of my lifetime but I'll do what I can to get it there.

As far as chickens go the silkys that I have are pretty quite except for a few cluck's now and then, they don't get all loud when they lay an egg like the other chickens do. They are smaller, about a third sized of regular chickens. Cat's would love a silky probably though.

Grasshopper eggs overwinter in the soil so burning might not even be enough.

The spinosad seems worth trying along with birdhouse which you have. Pyrethrin is listed as effective for grasshoppers, haven't tried it for that but I use it for other stuff. A pint of concentrate, evergreen 5% or pyaganic 5% is 60$ on amazon.

I'd add an essential oil like rosemary because I've never seen anything eat rosemary.

Lots of places have codes in effect for having chickens if you're living in city limits. Here, you could have 5 Hens and no Rosters.

I understand about having health problems and how that can make the easiest things feel like hardest thing to accomplish.

I thought of another idea that may help get more birds into your area, put up several bird houses around/near your plants. But like you mentioned about the bird feeder, it might take a while to draw them wild birds in.

Chickens would need a coup that can be closed at night to keep others animals from getting in at night, a feeder and a water tray. That is the basics. I never kept/raised Chickens myself.

fuck some ghoppers, sorry to hear of y'alls issues with them.

to protect against them overwintering consider solarizing with clear plastic over the winter or in early spring before planting next year, even around the area you are planting in...

anyone tried tobacco tea yet? since apparently hot peppers and garlic is nothing but salad dressing to them...

Corvette Doc and I have both tried that with little, if any noticeable effect.

I have my dogs going after them occasionally now

Yeah, I was told that it is about the same as nolo-bait...so i think i will keep looking. I still like some-ones idea about the kids...there just aren't any near-by. It would be a good use for my coin jar...i refuse to pay to turn in money...It is supposed to be worth X amount i want X amount.

Hey there Avinash, Been hoping you would show up soon.
I like your idea on the plastic. I am thinking a nice cover of DE and sevin-dust Spry with spinosad then cover with plastic till i re-dig the area in the Spring.

Any ideas where i can turn to to get an out-line start on submitting State petitions? I am looking at this as a good off year possibility. The cracks it would open would help a lot of people in more ways than i think they could imagine. PM me if you get some time...:thank you:

i duno if dust and spinosad would help under the plastic... solarizing should work well just with clear pastic. save your dusts for early season.

as for petitions... what exactly? i'm not sure....
