NEW Colorado Growers Thread

R

!RA!

Speaking of pests, I wound up fighting spider mites on my last run. Got so bad I killed most of them off, only saving 4 to clone. The clones were definitely showing signs of mites so I decided to try Smite. Drenched them pretty good a week ago and have been periodically taking leaf samples to the microscope. No sign of a return so far, and I like that it's made from cold pressed oils (germanium, cottonseed, peppermint and rosemary). A bit expensive, but seems to be working so far. Any of yous tried this stuff yet?

Ok, VERY strange Hopper update. Yesterday i went through my grow killing hoppers along the way. Today i found one in the entire grow. I started looking around the yard and there are very few left. I didn't spray yesterday because it was going to rain. This morning everything was still wet so i am waiting till it dries.
I would love to know what finally started chasing them out...I have no idea.
Maybe the Nolo Bait finally started working???

I hope they start to fuck off in my neighborhood soon. I just lost a main top to one of my plants yesterday for them chewing off all the bark down to the woody core of the stem.

I think they quiet down after rain too. Not to be a Negative Nancy but I wouldn't count on them being gone until it get's hot and dry again. That's when they do into a feeding frenzy up here.

I was thinking the same thing about the water. It didn't rain here last night so today everything is nice and muggy, but the ground is dry.

I swear that about 48 hours ago i walked past what is left of my flower garden and there were HUNDREDS of grass hoppers in every size and color. Today there about 20-30 i am guessing still left in there but that is it. It is kinda creepy.

I spent the morning combing the grow and my yard. The hoppers are just way down in numbers. I noticed something i need to research a little bit more. Last week i started seeing hornets sleeping in my plants...I almost grabbed a couple thinking they were hoppers. I figure, what harm can a hornet do to my plants??? As long as they are sleeping leave them be. This may have been the wisest thing i have done yet on the hoppers??? I am going searching tonight after doctor's apts.
I found about a half a dozen wasps through-out my yard today EATING GRASS HOPPERS! All my life people have called these all kinds of names (i always called them yellow-jackets) so the first thing i need to do is get a positive ID on them and research their diet and stuff.
But this makes PERFECT sense to me as i am looking at it. Last week i was trying to chase them out of my eaves and porch...i was slowly forcing them out of the front yard into the back so i could get better shots with the industrial spray...I think i am going to quit that.
Is it possible they cured the hopper problem?

And now that one plague lifts another darker more inccideous threat drags up and bites me in the ass...HARD!
My only good PCK turned out to be male. I am not sure if i can quarantine it to collect pollen...the timing sux.
Turns out i will be cutting down 3 others for the same reason as soon as it cools off out side. This having everything die while in the hospital back in April has destroyed my chances this year... Doubt i will ever go to an ER again.

Found the type; European Paper Wasp. Will look farther later tonight.
search
But it does say they eat other insects.

I've been seeing yellow jackets and hornet looking wasps around too. I've been leaving them be for the same reasons that you mentioned. They haven't been bothering me so I've left them alone. I was up on the hill taking care of the girls and doing foliars and there are still hundreds and hundreds of them jumping all over. No exaggeration.

You can also try different essential oils. Try NOW Essentials. Not very expensive, but work just as good as the more expensive brands. Cinnamon, Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Thyme are all good for getting rid of spider mites.

Time to Cull...So depressed. I had to find this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkSlPemjqZw

Well, I got three down, but i just can't make my-self cut that PCK...Any-one think it worth collecting pollen from? The mom gave the purple/black buds last year. She wouldn't pollinate hardly at all and only gave 5 seeds. 3 of the others popped but are showing crazy genetic instability type things in refusing to grow right...Do i just kill it?

It gets a reprieve for the night as i think about it's fate. The rain just started...Morning is the earliest now.

why do you think I started studying insects in the first place...

speaking of insects; i just ordered a bunch of hypoaspis miles and lady bugs, going to spray one last time before they arrive then let the bugs fight the bugs; not many spider mites left, no damage visible on the plant but if you go looking for them on lower parts of the plant you can find one wandering around.

RA!, might be something you want to consider?

about to flip my big room, want to upload some pics, but the damn puppy smashed the camera, busted a lense but i think the main body is ok i think;

Last day of Ren Fair was fun, nothing like an overpriced Turkey leg and people pretending to fight to the death.

Hey family has some raw land in El Paso county, anyone growing out there? Heard it's the only county not allowing cultivation? Thinking about making a movie wondering if it's worth the time

Speaking of pests, I had some local shithead kid come through my yard and steal an ogkb2.0 and a gg4 I had outside... leaving 2 garlicbreath phenos perhaps to come back and steal tonight...

...built a fucking fence this afternoon, so that was fun...

Personal grows are a matter of Constitutional Right in Colorado. They cannot be banned for any reason what so ever unless the people change the Constitution again.
