Enjoy them while they are cute. It's downhill about 12. I assume at some point it goes back uphill, but that is yet to be determined. FYI my oldest is 20. :)

I remember the feds announcing at some point that the tribes where considered sovereign governments. So basically it meant they could legalize weed on their Res., then that tribe decided it wanted to grow.

Consultants on project for 1st US marijuana resort charged with drug crimes.

You ever remember about hearing about the Sioux in South Dakota that where going to start a "pot resort". I saw a video showing that they had many F&D tables set up with seedlings. Turns out the Grow Consultants are getting charged. The article also states that one of the guys if from Colorado.

Glad I didn't say yes to these guys  I sell my consultancies in states with medical laws.

But they still haven't clarified how that is supposed to work, whether or not the tribe can sell cannabis to people who aren't members of the tribe, etc, that's why these guys got in trouble, moved a little too fast.

I hate seeing stuff like this. People roll over quickly when faced w/ 15 years...

I am still getting hit hard by grass-hoppers. The numbers seem to be down a little but not much. The bird feeder idea might still be a good one, i think i just put them up too late. They needed to be in place in the Spring when the birds are setting their boundaries and ares. So far i haven't seen one bird.
Lost a 5 footer to hoppers last weekend. I still can't believe that one ate that far through the main stem. Had to kill an 8 footer yesterday that turned out to be male. I started with 18 of my licenses 24...Now down to fourteen and only a couple are starting to show flowers. This isn't going to be good harvest year. I just hope what i get is strong enough to make me enough extract to last a year.
May have to look at pushing some flowering nutes to increase a little bit.
Colorado pests are getting worse each year...well that is how it appears to me at least. What happened to the good old days when it was just borg??? And that was only a few years ago.

Doc have you tried making a tobacco spray to spray on stuff? Are you just spraying your plants? Have you tried spraying a large area with something like a pepper spray of some kind to create a zone/area of affect that could act like a barrier to keep the hoppers a distance away?

I would refused to try the tobacco spray because of the possibility of cross-over of the Tobacco Mosaic Virus.
I did a few spays of garlic, pepper and Azamx all mixed. They don't seem to like it but it doesn't stop them. Nolo bait 10-12 times in the last month or so. Even putting coffee cans out with a glycerol soap mix. I put a little honey just below the inside lip to draw bugs in...so far the only real takers i have had are the hornets eating the honey.
Gotta find something better than honey. I have LOTS of diatomaceous earth and boric acid laid down in the grow area. I have tried using some of these on the larger yard around but it just gets washed away or something too fast to show any effect.

My only effective measure to date seems to be my walking through twice a day grabbing them by legs and smack them on the head. (just call me bunny foo-foo i guess)

Hey, a few on here seem to know a lot about some of the higher legal workings that i have never messed with. How does one sit and write a law that matches Colorado's formats or procedures? Then were do i go to start getting petitions together to get that potential law entered into a Ballot Initiative and stuff?
I watched it a little but have never really paid attention so i am lost.
I want to put together a law that basically says that a cop handcuffing a wounded person is a deliberate act of reckless endangerment and maybe add assault with a deadly weapon for very grievous acts. I have seen (on news feeds) 3 people get shot by the police then they swarm the person and almost beat them as they cuff them over last 2 weeks. Two of those people died when they probably would have lived if the cops hadn't been pulling them around, dragging them, and even kicking them when they were already on the ground and giving almost no resistance...the resistance i saw was fear reaction from the pain.
I use to volunteer for the San Isabelle search and rescue. One day we were bringing a guy down on a back-board when a State Patrol pig (that is being very nice to this thing) came up the trail from the base area and proceeded to try to pull the guy's arms out of the straps as he grabs his cuffs. I pushed the pig back and yelled WTF do think you are doing. He says he has a warrant for him. So what??? The only place this guy is going is to the hospital. Some of the others start joining in on jumping this POS. He actually did arrest me for interfering...As soon as i hit the Sheriff's Departments intake he got the riot act handed to him. One of the intake officers was on our team the other her husband was and that POS brought me in still wearing most of my gear.
I found out later that our rescue had slipped 2 vertebra and the disk had enveloped a nerve. They said that he would have been paraplegic if not for us taking such care while loading him and moving him. We almost crawled down that mountain.
This made me so mad. They wouldn't charge the POS with false arrest or even give him a reprimand for possible suspension. I was beyond livid. The charges against me were dropped by recommendation of the Sheriff and Under-Sheriff. I decide that i wanted nothing to do with any of them. I quit the team and changed my major from EMT to Clinical Med. Tech.. I never went back.
I had my arm dislocated once and this pig decided he wanted cuff me. I felt the tearing when he did it. I was only trying to help hold down a crazy drunk till the cops could get there. I fell off the porch area and dislocated my arm. The pig shows up and just starts cuffing me despite every-one telling him he has the wrong person. Since he didn't charge me i couldn't get any lawyers to push it.
So i hope you see why i am wanting this so bad. And one win might open up the doors to another against blue mafia.

I've never used tobacco either. I can understand about not wanting to spray that on your plants. Perhaps you need to look into other things to spray to have different effects. Maybe you should look into something that has Spinosad. I keep Sm-90 and neem oil on hand. If you don't have any sm-90 you can you a cooking oil (they say less effective then a horticultural oil), mix that with a little soap and water. I know the mix with the sm-90 will kill the bugs quickly. I know it works on smaller bugs, so I assume it should have the same effect on larger bugs too. I've never used azamax. I just looked it up and it says it's made from neem, but doesn't say neem oil. I'd suggest picking up some pure neem oil.

That sounds like something worth the effort.

I don't know the process you're looking for but your idea for a law is excellent & needs to happen, CD.

Another thing...
I was reading recently, somewhere here at IC, that there are no recorded cases of TMV in cannabis. How true the info is, IDK.
Apparently almost all cases have been fixed.
Mg deficiency, I believe, being the major culprit for TMV like symptoms.

Azamax/Azatrol are derived from neem oil and are Azidiractin, the active ingredient in neem oil.

If there are kids around the neighborhood you should get some friendly neughbors together and set uo a system where kids can make a buck or two. Pay the kids a penny or a nickle for every grasshopper they catch & bring to y'all. Every single one caught is a few hundred potential hoppers eradicated.

Grasshoppers don't care about neem oil, or garlic oil, or chili extract, or all those things mixed together. I've been alternating that mix with the buildasoil essential oil blend. It might slow them down but they still eat up my plants on the regular. I haven't lost any yet Corvette Doc but I'm worried what will happen when flowering starts and can't spray anything anymore....

These guys are literally eating the bark off of stalks and big branches down to the woody/pulpy core of the branch. I just flick off and smash at least once in the morning and once in the afternoon when I'm up there pulling the tarp on the greenhouse.

So then it could possibly be watered into the soil, like neem oil to give a systemic effect. If so perhaps this could be of use.

There are soil drench directions but I'm not sure how effective it would be as I've never used as such. I've git a bottle of neem oil if I need that.

Your plants are getting eat up because they're the healthiest vegetation in the area.

It's probably too late this season but...
Create a patch of healthy vegetation away from your main crops, be they veges or cannabis, in order to use as a trap crop for the hoppers.
