NEW Colorado Growers Thread

Hello everyone, I know there is a already a colorado clone thread but i didnt get much response. Unfortunately I had to chop my moms due to Podwer Mildew. I have met with 4 people on CL and everyone has told me their clones are clean. Everyone has ended up having mites. Can anyone on here point me in the direction of some Quality Clones? Thank yall

Pop some seeds in the mean time

I agree. Pop some seeds. Then when the mites bloom again you might realize that they could be coming from somewhere else. In Colorado, if you can see a pine tree you have spider mites waiting to attack from EVERYWHERE!

I have been told this ends at higher altitudes but don't know for certain. The cold and lower O2 will eventually stop them, i just don't know how high up you have to go???

Plan out defensive measures and stick to them as the plant grows. Multiple layers of protection are essential.

Catfish; i am sorry man. i was lit last night. i really did not mean to sound snappy...after reading this i owe you a big SORRY.

But Colorado is spider mite infested every where. When i was a kid i remember loosing my turtle because mom freaked out seeing the little red bastards crawling on her house plants. They tented the house and fumigated the hell out of it. The next June they were back. No body growing herb around there then. They are just a seriously problematic endemic natural pest. They thrive in pines and i have seen pinon's completely covered in webs from them.

The PM is also naturally endemic. And we have about 7-8 other molds that will kick your grow to the ground if you don't prepare for them.

Lets see to date i have been fighting;
Ants... They bring in scale and ranch them out out on your plants. Naturally endemic

Spider mites... Read above. Naturally endemic

Termites...During swarm times they might find the base of your plant and eat till it falls. Naturally endemic

An inch worm (green)... i only see these things leaving while i am harvesting, (testing fights) Naturally endemic

A red worm...I have not seen this in person yet but have heard horror stories about it literally eating away the entire center of bud (I think my tests on inch worm will prevent this???) naturally endemic

Grass Hoppers...Don't let me get started on them, just read the last few pages. Endemic EVERY WHERE

Leaf Hoppers...I am ignoring them since they are so small and cant eat much before they fall over stoned. Naturally endemic

Thrips (?)... We have a natural small fruit like fly that does get into soil...I think people are wrong when they call these Thrips??? IDK but Naturally endemic

There are many more that i don't want to remember. But i hope you see what i am try to tell you???

If you don't want to risk the cash on seeds i will give you some. I have a SERIOUS excess of Grape Ape x Grape Ape, and NYCD x Grape Ape. I have been running both the GA and NYCD for 4 years and decided it was time to see what these stable lines would make on a cross with NYCD and Lemon Girl Scout Cookies. So far they look good. In fact the NYCD x GA is one of the few plants the hoppers don't seem to eat.
My bet is you will be buying seeds in no time.

I would just assume that they have mites and I would then plan around that. When you bring your new cuttings home, have a location to keep them in away from you grow room. Quarantine them. Spray them down with a mix of horticultural oil and dish soap, repeat every 3-5 days for up to three times and you should be good.

Look for any possible contact point where you might be picking up any mites from when you're bringing cuts home

PM is treatable

On Wednesday it will now be legal to collect roof run off water in Colorado

http://www.denverpost.com/2016/08/05/colorado-household-rain-barrel-law-takes-effect-tuesday/

Does that mean I gotta dump what I've already collected & start over?

ROTFLMMFAO!!!

Prior appropriations means those with the oldest water rights get their allocation first.
Water belongs where it lands first!

Will my rain barrel make a difference?

Using two rain barrels to water your plants could save up to 1,200 gallons a year.
This rain barrel "LAW" is just another hoax set up by the controllers.
I can easily save 1200 gal in a summer.
Shit... I got over 100 gallons over night a couple nights ago. Had I not collecyed it it would fucking evaporate off the land thats so dry.
Fuckin politicians think they can limit the collection ammount while selling excesses to Nestle??? FUCK THEM IN THE DARK HOLE TILL THEY BLEED PROFUSELY!

Mites at 9k ft... just part of the battle around here!!

Totally agree. If it hits my roof its mine. Fuck you very much for the new law. :)

I've shied away from commercial clones mostly to avoid the introduction of highly resistant cannabis farm pests like root aphids & mites. As I understand it, pest populations in cannabis farms are extremely resistant to damned near everything short of nuclear weapons. Growing from seed, the only pests I've encountered come from the environment here in CO & they're pussies in comparison. I had thrips in 2013 & they were pushovers. Although the wife's houseplants sometimes have mites I haven't had 'em in the grow, oddly enough. Fungus gnats are endemic to my grow, however, but they're easy to control with gnatrol.

I think seeds are the answer for novice growers & for people who don't want to do more than just grow their own, like me. Judging from some of the horror story discussions, they're also a good way for bigger growers to safely introduce fresh genetics. Seeds won't bring the zombie apocalypse with 'em.

That is a very good point.

I want to disagree. These pest aren't my making just natural to the environment i am stuck growing in. Sorry...I am getting frustrated and the jokes are getting lost on me. Take care and forgive my frustrations.

just to say you can't blame the person you got the seeds from for pests and environmental probelms, thats all,
i'm the first to admit that pests are something that can get the best of even expereinced and established growers.
