DAY 21 - 12/12

There's not much happening really, just waiting on the buds to 'explode' if you know what I mean.

Are those 20 gallon pots?

Thanks man ! 20 gallon pots ? No, I can't even imagine how big a 20 gallon pot would be. I have them in 5 gallon pots, and two of those 5 gallon pots are pushing it when it comes to my cabinet size and my tiny setup with the 150 HPS.

DAY 22 - 12/12

I went grocery shopping earlier and when I was walking through the aisles, I noticed something on one of the shelves that looked awfully familiar, something I had seen pictures of quite a few times recently on this forum. I wasn't planning on getting it at all, but I took a quick look at it, and it was only three bucks, so I figured, what the heck, and I picked one up. I was also reading some post on the organics forum recently about molasses, so I'll give it a shot.

As far as the plants go, everything seems smooth, and they're looking healthy. I'm not 100% satisfied with the overall bud development yet, they're not as connected and thick that I wish they were, we'll see what happens in the next week or so. Tommorow I'll be feeding with a higher than recommended dosage of nutes.

DAY 23 - 12/12

I either did something incredibly stupid today or something pretty smart, I'll find out soon enough I suppose.

The slow bud development was kind of annoying me and I was going through my first grow log last night, where I kept detailed notes of each feeding and exactly how much amounts of each nutrient the plant was being fed.

I realized that I had made a huge error on my first grow, though it turned out to be a good thing in the end. According to the Fox Farms feeding schedule, you're supposed to feed 2 Teaspoons of Tiger Bloom and 1 Table Spoon of Big Bloom during flowering. I realized that I actually ended up feeding 2 Table Spoons of Tiger Bloom during my first grow, which is more than twice the recommended amount !

So with this feeding for my two plants, I upped the dosage of Tiger Bloom and gave them more than double the amount that they're supposed to get. I'll find out if I did the right thing soon enough. I enjoy playing poker, and I decided to take a little gamble with my plants. It worked well with my first grow, so based upon that, which is the only thing that I have to go on, I decided to make the very same 'mistake' on purpose for my second grow. If any signs of nute burn show up, I'll be ready to do a flush. If everything goes smooth, then hopefully the buds will develop to my liking soon.

Hey man, beautiful plants. I'm starting a Nirvana NL grow too, although on a much smaller scale! Seeds are currently germinating and I'm looking forward to getting started! Good luck with the rest of your grow!

Thanks. Yeah, the bud shots I've seen of people who have used it was definitely a plus for me, as far as deciding to try it out.

Thanks alot man ! Much smaller scale ? I'm only flowering two plants, and that's under a 150 HPS. Unless you're growing in a PC case or only with CFL's or something, I don't see how it could be on a much smaller scale. I consider my setup to be pretty small scale, compared to most of the setups that people have on this forum, with their huge rooms, tons of plants and thousand watt lights, lol. Good luck with your grow also !

Greenhead, I am banking on "something pretty smart". Keep me posted.

Thanks man ! Either way, I'm prepared for the consequences (good or bad), because it was a calculated risk afterall.

Ahhh yes, I'm a firm advocate of molasses. I use it once every 2 weeks in veg and every other watering in flower. Also use it as a finish, makes the buds nice and sweet :) Take care man...

That's good to hear, many people on this forum seem to speak highly of it and you certainly grow some nice buds !

When you say that you use it every other watering in flower, do you mean that you use molasses along with your nutes like this - ?

  • Water
    Feed (various nutes + molasses)
    Water
    Feed (various nutes + molasses)
    Water
    Feed (various nutes + molasses)
    Water

Or do you use it like this ?

  • Water
    Feed (various nutes)
    Water & molasses
    Feed (various nutes)
    Water
    Feed (various nutes)
    Water & molasses
    Feed (various nutes)
    Water

Does a table spoon per gallon sound about right ? I remember reading somebody else's post who was using that amount.

DAY 25 - 12/12

I haven't noticed any signs of nuteburn yet since the plants got fed with a more than double dosage feeding a couple of days ago. I just took a quick shot today of one of the budsites. Overall, they're still a little small for my liking and I'm hoping that they'll become more dense and begin to bulk up soon.
