Hey Greenhead, very nice shots. Your NL looks great.
I grow my last outdoor plant, NL f2 from nirvana on my balcony but it still needs about 2-3 weeks to go.
Greetings from PL :D

Greenhead what a nice job. Cant wait to see them hanging. I am running into the same as you, the buds are just not filling in really fast. But your looking real good. How has the sampling been?

Thanks ! Tastewise, the samples (buds) that I've been taking have been a little on the harsh side (I'm using a water bong), probably due to the quick drying method and the plants not having their final flush yet, but they've been pretty potent, and I know that I'll be happy with the final product. Here's a couple of pictures of the sample bud from tonight. Good luck with the rest of your grow, you're just a couple of weeks behind, so your buds should be hanging soon also and we'll have that virtual NL smoke !

awesome progress man. my plants are starting to have leaves pretty much identical to yours. i was worried for awhile because mine looked kind of shabby compared to your nice leaf formation. i look forward to comparing yields because i most likely wont be using lst or anything else. but yeah, look great man!!! :rasta:

Harvest Time

Harvest Time

Howdy,
I just wanted to say congrats on your great grow.

As a point of information that I kept expecting someone to bring up, when you have a bit smaller light (anything under a 400 HPS) expect to add 10 days to 2 weeks to final harvest time all things being equal if you wish to harvest the same yeild that you would have under a larger light. For Indicas, some don't put on the weight or girth until the last two weeks and then they double in bud size.

While I dig that you say you are dry, and I know that any smoke is better than no smoke, if you add the extra couple of weeks with smaller micro grows, all things being equal, you can maximize yield and potency even under a smaller light.

That's just my 2 cents from running a micro sativa grow, which is supposed to be impossible, with a six month+ flower time, but I had smoke so I was more patient, so it was worth it.

But sometimes the extra days can provide greater benefits than expected. I almost wrote this early in flower when you noted that you had smaller buds then your earlier grow, but I think they will explode with time despite lesser HPS wattage.

Great grow so far with no nute burns!

Thanks ! I was planning to harvest when there is a certain percentage of amber trichs. Some of the buds are actually starting to shape up a little bit now, so I'm glad about that. I wasn't thinking about harvesting the plants early or anything like that just because I'm dry, but I do still take a few small samples off here and there. Here's the bud from tonight. And thanks for your comments !

Thanks ! And you're right, it is simply too hard to keep from picking, especially with my greedy pothead fingers, lol.

Greenhead those are nice pictures. Do you use a macro? Very nice closeup

Thanks ! I hate the macro mode on my camera actually ! I'm just using a 4 year old Casio QVR-40 (4 megapixel) camera. Overall, it's alright, but the macro mode on it leaves much to be desired, the minimum distance is 10 centimeters ! When I get my next camera it will have to have a much better macro mode on it, and then I hope to really take some nice macro pictures.

Hey buddy, nice harvest. Love the pictures too, what kind of camera are you using?

B/R

Thanks ! That's not the harvest though ! The plants haven't gotten chopped yet, that picture was just of a small bud that I was sampling one night. As for the camera, I replied to T5GrowerNow in the post above this one with info about that.

And a small update for today. I just took some trichome samples earlier, and I'm seeing a few amber here and there now, so I don't think that chop time is that many days away, sometime this week most likely. I will post the harvest pictures when that happens. I don't want too many amber, because I prefer not to be locked down into any couch.

DAY 60 - 12/12

Today is exactly 2 weeks since I started the final flush and I cut off all nutes to the plants. I had to make a choice today as to harvest the plants or water them. I've been checking the trichs every now and then, and I feel that just a tad more time is needed, so I decided to water today, and I will harvest within the next few coming days.

Just like with my first grow, I've taken so many buds off already that I've decided not to bother getting any scale this time around either, I really don't see the use since I've sampled about 10-11 buds so far, and I'd estimate that approximately 1/3 of the total harvest is gone already. I can eyeball the remaining harvest, and I estimate that it will keep me good until the beginning of 2008 at least. I'll get a scale for my next grow perhaps, when I don't need to rape the plants. There's also a lot of green still left in the leaves, so I figure that a few more days of bud growth won't hurt.

I'll be back in a couple of days with the final harvest pictures. Here's a couple of pics of what the plants are looking like now, right before harvest. Like I said earlier, I've removed so much, that the two now look like one plant when they're next to each other. The buds on the two canopies connect together sort of like a puzzle.

Greenhead your looking good. How have those samples been?

Thanks. The samples have been great in my opinion. Even the ones that I took weeks ago packed more of a punch than I expected them to at that stage. And the most recent one, which I clipped off a couple of days ago and am sampling today is just about right, in terms of maturity and it's tasting better than the buds from weeks ago, so I'm going to be chopping down the plants in a day or two probably.

DAY 61 - 12/12 - HARVEST DAY -

Ok, I decided that today was the right day to chop the plants down, and my second grow has now come to an end.

Most excellent. Looks great. Based on your timing, I should be within 2 weeks. Going to scope mine today. Congratulations on your grow!
