Malawi Style Cob Curing.

Yesterday I tried a 50/50 mix of two cobs made from @vermontman Mulanje Gold.
They are getting on to 10 months aging now.
One was the red haired green/yellow plant and the other the plant that purpled towards the end of flower.
Both taste and smell incredible perfect cobbed Malawi grass aroma.
As I have been finding with some of my older cobs the sum of the two parts was greater than the total!
It came on fast as it should very very euphoric and confident. I was tripping out on euphoric love and excitement.
I solved an installation problem on a job I was doing at home and even managed to drive high as a kite but razor sharp focused on what I was doing.
The hardest part was not shouting out loud how good I was feeling.
I wanted everyone else to share in the high truly blissed out euphoria.

Next weeks weather forecast perfect for flowering my sativas the resin is off the charts already.
I love flowering in the Aussie summer hot hot hot.
This is centigrade for you US viewers.

Hey now, those look like some amazing temps there @Tangwena! Our average temp here in the summer... ahhh wish it was still summer... is about 90-95F daytime temps (32-32C), but it cools off considerably each night which is perfect for growing grapes, and all sorts of other plants :) I'm sure that your "girls" are loving it. Pics, please? :) Cheers!

Just measured today at my buddy's place on the precision scales, on average they are around 1.5 gr.

We might even get 2 grams if we stuff it really brutally. :smokey:

The shape of the next batch was better.

I'm thinking about supporting the fermentation process with Effective Microorganisms.

Here you go I had to spin all the tubs around to get the oldest plants at the front so I can get to them easier they look a bit disheveled but they will bounce back and adjust to their new places.
I am covered in resin a lovely floral sweet pine aroma typical Malawi smell.

These are from seed planted beginning of September on 11/13 hours and now on 8/16 hours.

HO-LEE-SMOKES!! Nice looking plants @Tangwena!!! It's seeing pics like these that make me want to try indoor growing someday, beautiful plants, tons of great looking buds, in what seems like a not-too-large space. How large is your space? Enquiring minds want to know!
I know, I'm spoiled by having the chance to grow outdoors where it's legal but my brother up in Canada will definitely appreciate seeing these. It's legal to grow there too but where he is the outdoor grow season is pretty short so indoor might be the way to go.
Thanks for sharing brother! That's pure art if you ask me. :)

That box is 1200mm x 1200mm square there is 1000mm of available height until you hit the lights.
Its why I flower straight from seed on 11/13 for 1 week them 10/12 for 2 weeks then 9/13 for 3 weeks and finally 8/14 till the end.
Its all the space I have thats secure from prying eyes. One day I hope to legally grow outside but for now its all I've got.

I have been reading for a long this thread but never tried the wonderful tek you showed and continuously supporting...i'm running one now so i will try it out in february and i will let you know.
I just wanted to ask some questions:
What lights do you use ?
Did you always grown with this scheduled light time only sativas or any other kind of?
Could you suggest some sativa strain (from seed) that its mandatory commercial in europe, but as close as possible to a real sativa you know about? just a personal opinion.
Thanks and have a good day 😉

I have used 11/13 from seed on sativas for ages, reducing to 10/14 induces them to stop growing in veg and start preflower stretch.
As soon as I see signs of flower I go down to 9/15 which panics them into flowering mode.
I currently use a couple of 240w 3000k LED panels but before that I used 2 x 375w CMH and it worked the same.

Depending on what effects your after Ace have lovely sativas like Panama, Golden Tiger, Tikal ect that work well this way and Green Mountain seeds plants available from Ace would also work well.
Indica dominant crosses not so much as they need more veg time.

Okay, now I have to amend my original post (below...) your latest was visible once I posted it! Holy cow those are beautiful, love the closeups! Nice looking plants, thanks for sharing!!

OP- Excellent, thanks @Tangwena. It sure seems like you can produce a lot of amazing weed in a decent sized space! And thanks for the data on your timing of growth and lighting, very interesting! You would be a dangerous man if you are ever able to grow outdoors! Hopefully you are able to do so eventually!! :) Cheers!

Lol, about the same temps right now where I am (Florida)

Just started a couple Mephisto freebies, hoping to harvest mid-January when it’s cold (Florida cold anyway, something like 15-20 C in the space)

Plan is to cure it starting in the winter so it gets a chance to develop some polyphenols during the cold season before the terpenes burn off, and then cook it all summer to make it spicy

Forgot to mention I also started an Ace Auto Zamaldelica in my living room under a 32W GE grow light, 24/0

Chewed 2.5g this morning from a delicious cob of this cultivar harvested last January 🤤

Hi all, okay, I think I might be taking this compressed cob thing a little too far?? :)
I pack a 1" (2.5cm) ID PVC pipe full of an ounce of cleaned buds - no stems, then put a plug in one end, and ram another 1" wood dowel down inside to compress the cob. I use a bar clamp to squeeze the living daylights out of the cob and after some recent refinements I can get on ounce into a 1" x 2.5" cob (2.5 cm. x 6.3cm.). Dang it takes some force, but it works.
The cob is rock hard, and I mean solid! Have I gone too far with this? Will I ever be able to get into it when it's time - might need a belt sander?
I thought I'd ask those with far more experience than I have about this, thanks for your input, in advance!
I also kind of like the more primitive "turd" shaped expressions of my earlier efforts, they are a little more unique and have their own personality?
Thoughts! Cheers!

No experience with densely packed cobs or super compressed buds your breaking new ground.
I personally prefer lighter pressure but who can say whats going to happen.

I compress my cobs very hard also, but not quite that hard. Personally I don't see it being a problem, unless you are intending to smoke it. Being rock hard is not an issue if you're intending to eat it.

Love the colors on that Mazar Kush brother and the Zennith also I thought I spotted some seeds in it.
I reckon lightly seeded cobs are way better highs than unseeded but thats just my personal taste.

Plus I have to say that as my current grow is lightly seeded ha ha On purpose I might add.
I just had 2 days hard work outside in the sun building a shade pergola on my house loved every minute of it thanks to some Mulanje Zulu cob I'm still flying now at 8pm at night.
@Tangwena, yes the colors are excellent and the smell of the two makes you melt.
I'm looking forward to the effect. The Zenith was pollinated by a short Ciskei man.
Thanks man, without you there would be no Cobs

I usually find that with many things I explore I often end up taking them too far in order to discover where the sweet spot is. I think I've done that again! :) I think I'll make another with the same material - and ease up a bit on the pressure, and see how the two evolve over time. Nothing like another experiment eh? I'll report back at some point on the differences if I notice any, cheers and thanks for the feedback!
