As of the advent of the Supercomputer in Utah, EVERYONE is on a watch list in one way/to one extent or another.

It's a selective enforcement tool. As though the feds have ever been intelligent enough to know what to do with data or how to effectively use it.

And as of well over 15 years ago, your business records are no longer YOURS, either. And they are subject to seizure via a field agent's NSL, after which a federal forensic accountant can review them for what's not in there, what's in there, and what doesn't add up.

Yet most of us are still here, and I still cross borders willy-nilly, with few delays (notwithstanding an overzealous Immigration dude in Brisbane, Australia, and even that was a relatively minor delay, mostly as a result of my knowing what NOT to say).

I did high profile organizing for years, and pushed issues at times wherein the State was clearly in violation of their own Constitution, and they knew it.

Never got a knock on the door, and I was growing commercial crops that whole time.

I proposed during our effort opposing the USA PATRIOT ACT (for which we gained the 22nd resolution in the US opposing or questioning that pile of fascist mindlessness) that we all buy a junk car for $100 to $200, hopefully barely running, and deposit maybe 100 of the fuckers on the local limited expressway after disabling it, in a group of mutual opponents of the USA PA, some of whom thought this was way over the line of acceptable protest, and were 'connected' community figureheads.

Again, I'm still here. No unwelcome visitors that came when I was home. Got air traffic squatting on my home one day for which I took out a camera and a rifle and filmed, then called FAA Flight Standards about the hover altitude. It was clearly a State Trooper Bell Ranger.

A neighbor got popped for refusing to leave Lisa Murkowski's local office over the illegal Iraq war (same guy who went to Pakistan with Code Pink and went to stay in Gaza for a time), and he ended up with 2 FBI cars parked at the bottom of his driveway, burning all of your folks' tax dollars, and they asked some questions about him to his neighbors, all of whom, as far as we know, towed the line of "Fuck off; if you want to know something about him, ask him."

I collected properly permitted class III weapons 30 years ago, and suggested on the air in interviews that if a local or State cop was at your home for mere possession of small amounts of cannabis, as was made clearly protected/legal under Rights of Privacy in the 1975 Ravin v. State ruling by then-Chief Justice Rabinowitz, , that if such a force were to unholster a weapon(s), thus introducing lethal force into a situation wherein their sole purpose was to violate your rights, that self-defense of matched force was in order.

And I'm still here. No knocks on the door. No hits, no runs, no errors. Some goofy surveillance, and some other evidence of untoward play, but little more than mosquitos, overall

Granted, I'm white, and middle to upper-middle class, and held a professional license or 2, and had been on a board of an org known for working civil liberties cases..

People put WAY too much stock into the government being a.) competent, b.) organized, or c.) intelligent, or d.) serious about much other than collecting a paycheck for as little work as possible and looking more competent than they are when doing so..... like most cops.

I did take a beef (locally grown angus) down the George Parks Highway to Eagle River in 2000, to friends who had a butchering shop set up to cut it up.

We were doing Prop 5 in 2000 (all out legalization, restitution, amnesty, and everything else to include the kitchen sink), and I picked up an Alaska State Trooper K-9 tail in Cantwell, with him being out of Palmer, Ak, all of 165 miles south of there. He pulled out ON my ass at the Denali Hwy intersection, keeping about 15' between us for a long while.

He tried to stay on my ass and I maneuvered nicely, putting some distance between us after passing a Jeep going into some curves in the plateau area south of Cantwell. He caught up later (about 50 miles later). He was clearly wanting to be on -my- ass, and when he was present, he was illegally close enough to my bumper for a tail-gating ticket, and I knew he was trying to 'force an error' which is a trick they often use.

I phoned his detachment commander later, after I returned home, telling him there's a difference between 'serving and protecting' and 'intimidation' aimed at causing people to make driving errors in order to justify pulling them over. Something I didn't succumb to, by the way, though I was a wreck, both angry and nervous, by the time it was over, down by Byers Creek, where I pulled over to add fuel from a jug..

My best guess is that folks in the hierarchy of Prop 5 were wired, likely without warrants, and the Troopers and others thought my 'beef' was code for a dope run, of which I made plenty. Just that wasn't one of them.

Though I did have a 2-qt. thermos filled with good French Roast coffee with Carolan's Irish Cream in it, had a nice buzz going, and had about 5 joints rolled and laying on the passenger floor boards under a newspaper.

They're not typically a very bright lot, just knee-jerk and often more presumptuous than those they're pursuing, if they're pursuing anyone at all. They're more akin to fly paper than they are to Albert Einstein with a badge.

it wasn't a try. it was a valid question for which you have no answers. i agree with much of what you say. i know capitalism is fucked up. and so does everyone else. you are not convincing anyone of anything they don't already know. but, since it seems to be the de facto form the societies of the entire world have now totally embraced what do you propose we do about it?

i mean this from a practical viewpoint as i understand that getting the general population of the world to simultaneously rise up and physically destroy the oppressors is not a practical goal and is not achievable.

in lieu of that, maybe the way forward is an incremental one. we have to start somewhere.

your extreme position precludes any start at all. you are diagnosing an incurable illness that has it's roots in the very basic nature of human character.

may i submit to you that a third party that is moderately socialist is a good starting point. we have to create the circumstances that enable change.

HA tends to avoid high profile engagements and especially when involving weapons or drugs. They learned that lesson a long time ago. Business doesn't go as smoothly when they're on television getting busted for outright violence or narcotics trafficking.
