Z1 is developing a sweeter aroma but I can't specifically identify it yet. It's got some floral to it but maybe it's the sweet carrot that I keep reading about. Z2 doesn't smell sweet. She's got a sharper, aggressive edge, almost a bite to her. They're at week 6 of 12/12 so they've got some time to develop and change.

To my eye number 2 appears more Thai influenced and will likely have a more energetic effect. Number one looks more resinous but in my opinion is also more likely to show the powerful meditative qualities of Malawi... both will likely still display “the weird” in some capacity.

By your description of aroma number one is Malawi dom with some Zamal influenced Terps... the elite pheno is unmistakably candy smelling...
Two sounds spot on for Thai phenos.... if you start getting sweet/acrid fuel/chemical notes then it might be pretty electric. Might be anyways.
Nice job... :tiphat:

Thanks for the info! These are fems so I was surprised to find such variation.

Z1 seems to match the growth and aroma descriptions from the Ace website, "Extremely bushy sativa of medium height. Sweet carrot, mango, orange, flowers and resins." I'm at week 7 of 12/12.

I wasn't sure if Z2 leaned more towards Thai or Zamal, I don't have any experience with either one. Her aroma seems smoother this week, less of the 'bite' to it. Maybe some sweetness is starting to emerge, rounding her out a bit.

All of those zams are beautiful. You did a great job controlling her height, topping, training, tying down . You're probably as curious as I am about the final weight. I've been searching for this mythical Alice in wonderland weed, I'm hoping you found it.
Peace, God bless

Thanks, friends! I'll be interested to see how long they take to finish since they're growing so differently. I've got clones of both, too. Always take clones. :)

Very nice Samual, well grown. Love the upturned wine bottles, is that some kind of slow drip set up, I was thinking of doing that myself, a bottle and a dripper or something like that, fill em up every other day.
Itchin to hear a smoke report, those gals look like they'll be tasty as hell.

Two Zam

Two Zam

Here are my two feminized Zamaldelicas. The small one is about a week older than the other and has a strong stink to her and about 1 inch nodes. If she is a runt, I won't care, yield isn't a factor - my garden gave me too much weed last year haha. The younger big one is healthy and vigorous, and about twice the size. Seems the pests don't like her, she has nearly zero damage.

I was thinking along the lines of ollas and found these Terracotta Plant Watering Stakes on Amazon, I bought a dozen plus plastic wine bottles. They're a nice supplement but they don't keep up with the needs of the plants or the soil. Someday I plan to upgrade to a full blumat setup.

What an amazing strain!

Thanks to Tangwena's Malawi COB thread I made my mind to grow this jewelry in the sativa crown - Zamaldelica!
I can say this strain was really challenging as I had to do my best when tying down branches after topping the plant - I got about 60 cm in height available hehe

I'm growing the feminized version and would like to share my impressions so far - the plant is exactly at F110 and I'm about to chop it in the next days. At 100F about 1/5 of the plant was chopped because these colas were looking ripe and finished. Also, I cut a test nug at about 70F.

In the beginning, when switched to flower the aroma was carrot + mango which evolved into pure fresh carrot juice smell - I couldn't resist and cut a nug for a test at about 70 days of flowering. At this point, I thought I got a malawi/zamal pheno.

Impressions from the 70F test nug, roughly dried for few days:
- The smoke was surprisingly smooth for such roughly dried bud and shortly after that... WHAT A RACE! WHAT A TRIP. I've never experienced anything like that. I thought of knowing what a trip weed means until this one... Very strong head high. Overpowering urge to stand and do something. I'm not a dancer but wanted to listen to loud music and move. Then we went to have lunch with my gf - It took me over 20 mins to choose a meal in and still had the feeling that my mind is clearer than ever - it wasn't :D The high continued for the better part of the day.

Impressions from the 100F nug, roughly dried for a little bit more than few days:
- The plant did change a lot. There is no trace of carrot smell, maybe little mango in there. I can sense black pepper and floral tones. At this point, I think I got thai/zamal pheno. Still, no amber trichomes and some colas are continuing to throw white pistils. The colas are having slight purple coloring and are dark green. The smoke is smooth but now I can say it is cannabis - previously there was almost no trace of the standard cannabis smell after burning. Again - it's way smoother than expected after such a short time of drying and no curing at all. The high - it's strong head high but not comparable to the one I experienced a month ago, way more subtle and gentle. I can feel I'm focused and can keep intact with my thoughts and goals for the day. I'm feeling energetic but the race isn't starting and I feel in a calm state. This time I can stay on the sofa - don't have the urge to stand up and jump :)

In the next days, I'll cut down the rest of the plant. Found few male flowers on top of the biggest colas and had to remove them. Still, no sign of amber trichomes but the plant is looking ready.

Also - so far I did small cob out of the 100F plant matter - after fermenting the outer husk was colored with purplish nuances and I can definitely distinguish black pepper aroma.
Can't wait to test cured zamaldelica but will have to wait for another month.

Definitely not an everyday smoke and definitely not recommended for non-experienced tokers. It's another universe of cannabis for me which I enjoy very much. The first test was probably the terrorific experience I read about in this thread. It was tough! But I think I crave for it now... Probably will do another run with zamaldelica but this time I'll cut it down early on and save it for very special occasions.

Thanks dubi, thanks Ace seeds!

Kind regards,
TreePwnzor

I'd like to update with a cool pic i took from one of the last nugs from this batch.
After 6 months it's mostly peppery. Very energetic high, almost no tiredness. Not very strong for the occasional toker but definitely one of the best smokes.
Very balanced sativa high imo.

Thanks again Ace seeds !
