Thailand is ruled by a king who can make whatever laws he wants yet cannabis is still illegal there :frown: and this is a picture of the king of Thailand stomach tattoos and all. Dose this look like the type of person who has never touched drugs in his life????

Are you saying no modern selectively bred pure sativa completely matches the psychedelic quality of the best weed of the 70's or 80's ? I have never smoked weed from back then but when you read about Zamaldelica you would think it would at least match that quality if it dose not surpass it.?

No I'm not saying that. The high THC sativa strains we have now are similar and basically equally strong but there is a difference from the classic older versions.

In the wine world, especially France, but in Europe generally, there is the concept of "terroir". The idea is that wines from certain places are unique in character. They have elements of taste and smell etc that are different from anywhere and can't truly be duplicated elsewhere. It has to do with genetics, soil, climate, local culture and so on. Classic Thai sticks, Columbian Gold, Panama Red, Lebanese hash, and others were of their places of origin. So while you can get the seeds and grow the strain where you live, you can't recreate the original.

That isn't surprising or unexpected, but still, here in California, we never really pursued pure sativas in a lasting significant way. So when the imports no longer came here, those special unique products were lost for those of us that appreciated them.

I don't expect to truly recreate them any more than California Pinot Noir growers expect to make red Burgundy. But they hope to get close, and I do to.

In 1980 I did a big grow in the mountains of Northern CA using seeds I had been collecting for about two years. It included seeds from Thai sticks along with various other things. It was a cannabis zoo in a way because CA had all kinds of things newly arrived from all over the world. At the time I didn't really know or appreciate what a special time it was in that way. I remember the Thai plants were very unique and different from everything else. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see it all to the end. We were spotted by cops in a plane and they came and took it all. After that I didn't try again for many years. But I sure wish I could seen what those Thai plants would have produced.

Zamaldelica is like a modern sports car compared to a 1960s Ferrari. Better is some ways and not in others.

a disgrace to the country.

There is a lot of talk in Thailand of moving towards legalization.

"A draft law to greatly expand medical cannabis regulations in Thailand is expected to be unveiled this week, a move that executives say will open the door to potentially millions of dollars in investments.

In the works since last year, the draft narcotics code will permit medical marijuana research on humans.

The law will first be analyzed by the country’s cabinet, according to the Bangkok Post. Then it will go to the National Legislative Assembly.

The move shows Thailand is serious about medical marijuana, Jim Plamondon, vice president of Thai Cannabis Corp., told Marijuana Business Daily.

He said Thailand is on pace to be a leading player in the industry in Asia.

“Any company that is participating in the global cannabis industry should consider being among the first to move the least-profitable links in its global supply chain to Thailand,” he said.
“The money it saves by doing so can be invested in moving up the value chain towards establishing consumer brands, because that’s where the big money will be … because that’s where the big money always is.”

The Southeast Asia nation could be sitting on a $4 billion MMJ industry within a decade.

“Thailand is moving fastest among Asian nations to legalize cannabis, albeit in a very step-by-step manner,” Plamondon said.

Thai Cannabis Corp. was the first company in Thailand to win permission to grow cannabis and process it into oils, extracts and isolates."

So I cut Z #1 at 98 days. I wanted to let her go for another week but had to pull early. I found some bud rot on one cola, size of a marble. I also found a single mature banana, which also made this an easy decision.

Trimmed and is drying now. Smells like wet grass with a touch of sweet carrot.

She was a big yielder for me considering I am micro growing with little vegging time.

Greetings Sativamane! Well done on your harvest! Thank you for posting about Zamaldelica. Glad to hear she yielded heavy even for a micro grow. The aromas you describe also sound very positive and should cure into a very pleasing end product. Enjoy!!
Happy harvest!:)

Hi there
I couldn't asure 100% (but 95% sure) these girls are pure zamaldelicas. They could be G.Tiger X Zamaldelica. The seeds came from the last winter crop of GT's and zamaldelicas. These seeds were in a bud tested in a friend's home and the seeds were planted couple of days later. Vigorous from the first days and three month later here they are:
1st)

2nd)

https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=77493&pictureid=1864513

and a a mutation, I guess, in that plant. Mostly all the leaves are like this.

I suposed my friend has some restriction about monster plants so in short time we will start to prune them a bit.

Another Zamaldelica pops up in this container from at least 3" under the soil!:) I added soil as the larger Zamaldelica grew and after enough covering .. up it came.:tumbleweed:

I am wondering now
1. if my unpopped 25 plants want the same treatment :lightning: edit: I went and added another inch of soil to the unpopped. (8 out of 33 pops in 8 days so it must be the heat/lack of soil protection keeping them from popping with an average 40'C days)
2. how do I separate this new seedling into it's own container? :1help:

@karra: I have a zamaldelica that has fingers protruding from the center like that. may be a trait from zamaldelica side.

I am leaning on leaving the new seedling as insurance. As deep as the seed is and the potential it's roots are in the mesh.. It might survive but maybe not recover the shock.

My main goal after-all is a successful seed run and of course some top shelf herb.

Just to clarify I have had 4 out of 6 pops thus far (still believe the last 2 Z will come up) on the Zamaldelica while I have had in total 25 out of 33 unpopped for various other, non-Ace, strains.
