That Nanan Bacalou keeps catching my eye. I know you really were impresaed. If memory serves me right you said she triggers really early so ends up finishing surprisingly quick for nld type. Thinking about trying my hand at outdoor next spring and that seems like a great candidate for putting the right buzz into some genetics suited for Michigan weather. I already grabbed 2 packs of bangi haze. Have you ever ran Nepal Jam? How was the smoke?

I love Nanan Bouclou. The one I grew outside would be done about now, mid to late October. The main reason I liked it was the energetic and cerebral high. Like a good selection of Bangi Haze, it has lots of "get up and go". They are not edgy for me. Both are more euphoric than electric, but they are significantly electric. I've read numerous posts describing Nanan Bouclou as "pure coffee". The second reason for my love is the sublime flavor of Nanan Bouclou. Soooo fine! I throw myself prone, writhe around a bit, and say out loud, "WOW!!!" Hahahaha... So rare to get early ripening, quality high, and flavor all in one plant. Seeds are now ripening.

I have explored Nepal Jam and some of the children of a selected mother I breed. I prefer my selected Bangi Haze and the children I grew. They are excellent in quality of effect. I much prefer the highs. They are very clear, energetic, euphoric, and more cerebral than the Nepal Jams genetics I explored. NepJam were good, but didn't have the thrill factor that I need. It's just my preference. If the Kali Mist and/or the SAGE bump up the potency (trippiness), I'm going to be very happy.

mangohazelaos on the pic. chocowreck x haze are little seedlings now. I think its super laos, but not really sure. BLB laos what is it? man when Im looking at those bangi crosses. I feel I need to pop ethiopian x bangi I made like 6 years ago hehe. good luck with finish.
I checked my plants this morning, and I found some branches on the Kali cross looking really close to done. Other branches, not so much. I don't know if it is from the light frost, normal ripening pattern, or not watering all the roots. I have so many branches on the ground, I stopped using mini sprayers, and I'm just letting the hose run onto the ground. Some roots must be dry, and others are probably soaked.
It's a little disappointing to not see resin heavily splattered on the buds. SAGE and Nanan Bouclou will fix that! I did not see impressive amounts on my mother plant and it was pretty potent. It's always about the smoke. I hope I'm surprised.
The buds changed so much in the last few days, it is starting to look like a Nov. 1 ripen date is possible. A rainy week is in the forecast. I think I'll attempt to ride it out, and hope for a few more good days after the rains. Frost will be likely when the weather clears after the rain, but if it is light, the plants will survive. I better take some branches as samples in case I lose the gamble.
I need to get some earlier genetics. Vermotman is growing a Oaxaca Nepal cross that ripened in mid September. I need to research and order that Nepal since I think it was what is making it especially early. My genetics keep drifting later and later. Auto flowering is worth a look also. Is anyone familiar with a good seed company for early cerebral strains? I'll spend some time searching for Nepalese later this week. It has to be cerebral. I'll never introduce hash plant into my genetics again. I did that 15+ years ago, and it took me all this time to breed and cross my way out of it. LOL Burmese from VISC, and Bangi Haze looked like hash plants, but were good quality. Still, mid October is not early enough for my climate.

The Baglung Nepali line in Vermontman's cross is maintained by the Derg Cora Collective and is pretty easy to find by googling that name. I got mine from a Danish seedbank that'll get censored here, but I believe you can find knockoffs on Cannapot in the vendors section.

I'll also say that while my experience with that line is limited, I did get to smoke the males and some small, early buds. The high, while mild was clear, happy, and relaxed. Not trip weed, necessarily, but at least it shouldn't muddy the waters the way an early, couchlock wld might.
That being said there has been some suspicion that a purple pakistani found its way into the line at some point. I don't know enough about paki lines to have an opinion though.
I'll also say that while my experience with that line is limited, I did get to smoke the males and some small, early buds. The high, while mild was clear, happy, and relaxed. Not trip weed, necessarily, but at least it shouldn't muddy the waters the way an early, couchlock wld might.

I'm always on the lookout for earlier strains. Auto flowers are appealing and I'd love to find one that's both strong and high yielding. To me they're a little side show, it's fun to harvest in early August and the good stuff nowadays gets you high. I'd hate to be stuck with it as my only smoke for more then a couple days.
I tried Mextiza this year should be ready to smoke any day now. It finished in the first half of October great fruity smells and a healthy strong plant. Great mold resistance but weak to powdery mildew. I'm skeptical it will pack the punch I like my smoke to have but we'll see. If it doesn't that's fine as long as I enjoy the effects.
It's gotten really hard to find strains that finish in September everyone has been selecting for yield and potency which doesn't go well with early. There used to be lots of potent strains that finished late August-September but the yield was small I'm thinking they're mostly extinct. With the plant limits most of my California grower friends have gone big.
Many of the small early plants I remember were 'oddballs'. I remember Indicas that were a big cola on a 5 foot tall stalk with no branching. And Narrow leaf types that were similar but with more of an 'Afro' of leaves and tons of crystals. There was one that was a larger plant bushy with thinish dark green leaves and bright red hairs that finished in the first week of September. My friend called it the Green Dragon. Wonderful minty medicine taste.
There was a lot of early strains coming out of the Channel Islands and Vancouver Island in the 90s. A lot of Bud on the Stick, early skunk types, and bushy sativas. From a seed collector perspective it sort of dried up in the early 2000's.
I know it's been said elsewhere but the strain diversity has really dried up since the '90s. Used to find all sorts of sativa dominant hybrids and aromatic Indicas in bag seed, won't see that again.

actually i know the answer to that one ,
the super laos name was just what the blb laos got called , it was a pun ,
probably something to do with nevil i imagine , those guys are incorrigible ...
so blb laos is the same as super laos ...
the blb stands for bad lower back , the member we originally received the seed from , who lives in Thailand near the Laos border...

i kept that girl , she was hard to resist .. lol .. no blb is alive and well , its prof77 from thailand that died a few years back now , he was the source of some thai seed that some guys still grow and enjoy ...If I am not mistaken, BLB the person died not long ago. Nice that he is remembered.

yes but the laos only slightly ,
it was a bit dry when i started ,
but it cured up nicely with the bit of fermentation,
i just wanted to speed up the curing process a little,
seemed to have done the job ...
I didnt find it trippy yesum ,
but ill grow her again and see if i can come up with a better product this time ,
it was the sort of stuff u feel in your cheeks and face ,
it had a pretty smooth ride about her , but the peak was well up there ,
a very nice high ,
and a smooth ride down with no lag ...
potent enough , but no trip as yet ....
