That allergy thing happens to me also. I got allergies at age 23. They are year round now. They 100 percent disappear if im in central america or se asia. Texas n mexico i still had em though... lol that must be the threshold.
Weed seems to agrivate it slightly.

Thanks for the great report on the Nanan Bouclou, Thaibliss!

It's already given me lots of ideas that I can relate to, in relation to good tropical weed, but I'll read it again and think about some more before commenting.

The one thing that I will recognize ans agree with 100% though, is what you desribe as that feeling of regeneration afterwards, of having kinda been remade anew. Yes!

I might go for it myself at some stage, though now I'm getting ready to focus on PNG again. Some serious similarities there, as well as some fascinating differences.

Well done, chap!

Great report, the Nanan Bouclou sounds nice.
Some sativa's give a very content and spiritual effect, as if you've partaken in an ancient conciousness that now envelopes you...
Your report reminded me of that when you said it cure's your ills and the serene feeling of knowing with SAGE.

Do you notice a difference between outdoor Bouclou and indoor? She seems like the type to love some blazing sun.

Zitz,

The two Nanan Bouclous I have grown were starkly different. I've heard that this is a strain that responds very much to the outdoor sun, compared to indoor lightling, but it is also a hybrid that is not line bred. I'm seeing very different phenos, and I'm not sure what can be attributed to individual differences and environmental differences.

That being said, the outdoor plant was stronger, better tasting, and more euphoric, but the indoor one was much more trippy. I have a cutting of the outdoor one. I want to capture the genetics of the cutting I have in seed form. I will use a SAGE cross to pollinate it. Once I do, I will grow another one to test outside.

Hey thaibliss, does the Nanan Bouclous have a chance finishing at 42° N? Im not in a legal state so a cover/greenhouse is not a option.

Hi Boogieman,

I'm at about 42 north, but I am in a climate that is somewhat moderated by the Pacific Ocean and a jet stream pattern on the west coast. I harvested at about the second week of October. Seems to me it would be worth an attempt where you are, especially since my individual had such a nice high.

Best of Luck,

ThaiBliss

I myself have experienced trippy weed before (i think), however it was in my rookie smoking days 20 ish years ago from the local dealer at the time. So I have wondered was it just the fact I was rookie at the time so wasn't so immune to potent stuff, or was it actually weed with psychedelic properties. For the last 20 years I have never experienced this since and I have craved it again. I remember my mind racing and having extremely complex thought thinking 100 mph, upon closing my eyes I used to see complex moving patterns. Hmm so does strains like this exist or was I just a newb to the herb at the time?

a few plants have just shown bananas,
including the most purple above.
temps get down to ~ 63F at night,
~ 71F during the day.

most are being grown bonsai-style,
and they're sitting in 1qt/lt. pots.

Smoke Report

Smoke Report

Greetings,

Another dinner party, another smoke report. I'm really enjoying these little Cannabis club type get-togethers. So far, the highs have all been unique, and the experiences have not been getting old or boring.

I feel the need to reiterate some caveats about these tests I'm doing. I had some cuttings that were not tested, and they started to die out in rockwool cubes in my grow cabinet. To save them, I planted them in soil outside. They stopped dying, and I decided to let them flower and go to seed using a selected Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed male. The male I used was the most pungent plant, male or female, from my spring outdoor planting. I think this turned out to be a good choice since my patients reported to me that the Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed females were the best buds I ever supplied them with. I will be growing out some more seeds from this cross in my outdoor garden next summer.

Obtaining seeds to save the genetics of the cuttings I had was my #1 priority. I let the buds get very ripe, and conditions were poor by the time I harvested the last of those cuttings in late December and early January. The greenhouse had no supplemental lighting or heating. The effects of these buds might be very different given better ripening conditions. However, I am moving away from any indoor growing. Anything that can do well under these conditions in my greenhouse may be worth crossing to my earlier outdoor strains. The bottom line is that these tests are from buds that have not been grown under ideal conditions.

This is a smoke report for the strain that was one of the very latest of the cuttings I had, Thai x (Colombian Gold x C99). It was the only plant that did not purple out, even in the slightest, in my greenhouse:

I tested this by smoking finger hash I got by extracting seeds from the buds pictured above.

Similar to the night we smoke tested Nanan Bouclou, by the time we smoked, our bellies were full and had consumed a glass of wine after a long day. I was feeling quite content. This hash was loaded into a standard pipe. A layer of crushed up seed extracted bud was at the bottom of the bowl to prevent hash from falling through the screen.

I smoked three big hits and the first feeling I got was utter relaxation. My very first thought was that I could easily close my eyes and pleasantly drift off to a nice sleep. This surprised me because a friend had contrasted the high from this plant with Kali Mist, and I was told that this had paranoia associated with it. I was not surprised to hear this because it is reported to be 50% Thai. The very relaxing feeling, without the heavy limbed effect, was more reminiscent of Colombian. It could be described as dreamy and/or narcotic.

After a little while, the worm did turn. I started to get a nervous twitchiness in my leg muscles that I would expect from a speedy Thai type of high. We were preparing to watch some episodes of a television series named "Ozarks", and the nervous energy was not enough to abandon that plan. Strangely, I seemed to toggle back and forth between the relaxed feeling and the muscle edginess.

I spent the night at my friend's house. We had stayed up very late watching our "Ozark" marathon, and I did not sleep well in my unfamiliar bed. I woke up feeling hung-over, like I had 4 or 5 drinks. I'm not sure how much was due to lack of sleep, or the after effects of the comedown from the high. It felt like more than a simple lack of sleep.

In summary, the high was more complex than Kali Mist, but not quite as strong. Neither of these were as clean and euphoric as Nanan Bouclou. Nanan Bouclou, as well as Bangi Haze and SAGE, are more of a clean high. Thai x (Colombian Gold x C99) and Kali Mist lack that soaring cerebral feeling that my other established favorites have. While this Thai... and Kali Mist could be described as more potent, they don't have the thrill factor or the clarity that my favorites have. We did plenty of laughing together, but the Nanan Bouclou generated the most happy hilarity. This is a feeling that I remember from the best old school Mexican strains. I would not describe this Thai cross as trippy. All things could change under better growing conditions or after a longer cure, but all these strains are being compared under similar conditions. It will be very interesting to compare the high from the SAGE cutting grown and seeded in my greenhouse compared to the indoor grown SAGE.

Best Vibes,

ThaiBliss

Chasing The Present
top 3 consesus...?

top 3 consesus...?

I've been reading thru this thread over the years and have seen many of the same strains appearing in people's top choices for trippiness.

Is there a current top 3 that most agree to that will offer seekers the best choice(s) to find this trait?

Or is it more a type / region where plants origins come from vs a certain strain that drives the trippiness?

I believe it's both, what say you?

Thanks!

Led05,

We've been around this merry-go-round before, but I think it is important to get peoples feedback on a regular basis. I'm going to make two top 3 lists because things have changed so much in my lifetime. My first 15 years of smoking was all tropical and subtropical sativa. In the late 70s, buds from hash plants started to become available. By the 80's, it was all the rage to cross hash plants with the classic tropical and subtropical sativas. Now, it is extremely rare to find pure sativas or pure indicas.

Top 3 lifetime trippy Cannabis strains:

1.) Neville's Haze - I believe the seeds I grew were mostly pure tropical/subtropical sativa with a minor amount, possibly, of hash plant.
2.) Thai Stick (skinny) - I smoked this for nearly a decade and the quality, character, and potency were very consistent. I believe that S.E. Asian peoples brought Cannabis to it's pinnacle of trippy and potent.
3.) Sumatran - Another S.E. Asian product of similar character to Thai Stick.

Top 3 trippy strains of my experience in "modern" time, the last 2 decades:

1.) Neville's Haze - The very unique plant that I found from these seeds had the trippy and electric feel of S.E. Asian and a more mushroomy effect from some supreme Mexican strains.
2.) SAGE - The cutting of SAGE that I was gifted is holding up against many strains I have tested as the most trippy. It seems a nice blend of clear electric and profound trippy. It may be somewhat mild, but the quality is very solid.
3.) Bangi Haze - Some individuals of this line are so clear and euphoric that it is stunning. Definitely trippy in the heightened senses that occurs.

Honorable Mentions: Zamaldelica, Burmese, Johnny Blaze, Nanan Bouclou, Thai-Skunk. I have not yet popped my Highland Mexican x Blueberry, but from the consistent reports it appears to have trippiness to it.
