The Search for Trip Weed

I've tried some really tropically flavored California grown Hawaiian strain. The guy said he got seeds from family friends in Hawaii. It was exceptionally clear, permagrin, this is the best day of my life kinda feeling. It was way more euphoric than blueberry muffin pheno blueberry, and much better than the sage I tried. The sage head was a lot less clear than this stuff and the upward tingling pull sage has a degree of was like fully realized in this stuff in a functional capable fully engaged explosion of euphoria.

Been smoking some Blue Orca Haze. Very strong and has a bit of that Thai soaring high, I guess so as I never had Thai. Has Nevil's Haze in it, so who knows what is cooking in there. Makes things look quite intense and colorful, mild visual effects, like shimmering in peripheral view.

I found a pheno which gives that racy effect but still comfortable.

I'm glad you got to experience that. I hope your friend is wise enough to preserve those genetics, and pass them around to those that can appreciate it. Perhaps you could encourage it.

Unfortunately for me it was a random encounter so I lost contact with that person after that day. All I know is they, at the time, kept that line as a family heirloom variety in their garden.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that when people hoard strains and markets shift, a bad bit of weather comes through, or the power goes out the good old stuff is often lost in time.

I never understand how a cure can modify the high so much, the taste and smell can change and the way the terpenes interact with cannabinoids will change slightly but the cannabinoids remain unchanged, how can the cure increase potency^? I know that tangwena and many other people claim that cob curing increase potency and I can never understand why, I have never noticed an increase in potency with regular jar curing methods.

Depends on how you harvest. No such thing as an 8 week strain. The plant isn't finished yet just because it's chopped. Seedbank nonsense. Thats the simple answer. Bacterial interactions are still finishing the plant. Water and chlorophyll reduce the effectiveness. The terps that build help Cannabinoids absorb more efficiently, endless list summarized as:fresh plants arent finished developing. No need to quantify it, just observe it for what it is. The plant is freakin tailored by God to be blazed, when finished. Let's just take that for granted.. No such thing as 8 week smoke.

Greetings,

After proclaiming my love for the Burmese strain I had in years past, and crediting it with turning around my Wicked Weed line, I was gifted some Burmese seeds. I planted about 30 of them last spring and none of them sprouted. It was very disappointing. Luckily, I still have plenty of seeds left. This week I put about 20 of them into water. I soak my seeds a day or so before planting. One of them cracked open exposing the tap root. I planted it today. I am hopeful that it will sprout. I should know in less than a week. This is thrilling to me. Hopefully, a few more will crack open.
:dance013:

All the strains I am soaking:

Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed
Goo x (Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed)
Queen Mother
Burmese
SAGE x (Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed)

The SAGE cross is being grown primarily to find a male that I can cross to Nanan Bouclou. I want to reinforce the terpenes that they have in common, namely pinene and the very honey sweetness. I also want to cross it again to something earlier. I don't expect the SAGE cross to ripen by early October, but I'll give one female a try to see when it will ripen. Even if it needs longer, we might get lucky with the weather. Last fall the weather held up until late October.

I extracted seeds from Big Sur Holy Weed yesterday. It had seeds in it from the selected Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed male that are in all my other crosses. That male was the most pungent plant of all of the plants I had planted last spring of any strain. The terpenes of BSHW were amazing. It is somewhat like SAGE with it's honey sweetness and spicy pine. It also has floral perfume and menthol. It really reminds me of Nanan Bouclou. Since it is related to SAGE by way of Purple Zacatecas, I also want to cross it to Nanan Bouclou and then bring the SAGE cross and BSHW cross together. Each will have Nanan Bouclou and Purple Zacatecas in its ancestry.

Bangi Haze will also be common strain in their ancestry. This brings the clarity of the high and the earliness to my seed stock. I also have some new Bangi related lines on the way:

Congo #3 x Bangi Haze
Purple Zamal x Bangi Haze.

These will probably need to be tested indoors, but if they turn out as good as they sound, I'll have my outdoor lines to breed to and make them earlier.

Good Luck in Your Trip Search,

Smoke Report

Smoke Report

Greetings,

I was planning on a recalibration smoke report of SAGE that was grown under the same conditions as the others that I have been testing lately. I looked around my house and could not find the SAGE hash and crushed up bud I had from extracting the seeds. I searched..., and then searched again... until I realized I had given it to a friend who was helping me extract seeds from buds. I like SAGE so much, and was looking forward to smoking it so much that I went to my friend's house to GET... IT... BACK! LMAO. Not cool. In fairness to myself, I wasn't going to take it back. I just wanted to smoke some. It's a funnier story saying that I wanted to take it back. I crack myself up.

Unfortunately, my friend had another friend over who wanted to get high and was offered up the stash box. It got consumed by a third party. I was consoled by the fact that the third party made mention of how good it was. Oh well. "The plans of mice and men...".

Instead, I smoked one of my Goo buds spiked with some Goo hash. My first thought was how good it tasted. It reminded me of Lebanese Blonde. It was hashy, but it also had a woodiness to it. The high was pretty clear and cerebral, but not especially strong. It was clear in the head, but I did experience a muscular nervousness. My thigh muscles were twitchy. It was as if I was shivering from the cold, but I was not cold at all. This lasted for an hour. The high made me edgy, but it was not soaring in my mind. My friend commented how it made her aware of her body. It was introspective, without dark thoughts. It was more of a physical self awareness / self centeredness.

As I have been doing these tests, I can't help but compare to other tests made recently. This makes the cream rise to the top. For instance, Goo was quite tasty, but the flavor pales in comparison to Nanan Bouclou. The taste of Nanan Bouclou is so exceptional, as was the high. Nothing has come close to the soaring cerebral feeling of Nanan Bouclou. I laughed so hard the night that we smoked that. Thoughts were not introspective or self centered. It was all about marveling and being amused at the world around me. That stuff is very good quality.

The other strain that I think back fondly on was Kali Mist. Kali Mist was strong. It may have a slight bit of stoniness to it and a lack of clarity compared Nanan Bouclou or Bangi Haze, but it is psychoactive. It's power is impressive, especially in contrast to the lack of strong flavor. It's flavor is so very light with a minty citric freshness. You would not think you'd get very high at all, but you most certainly do.

I don't usually spend so much time thinking about the taste of the buds. I'm all about the high, at least I like to think so. But when one has something that tastes as good as Nanan Bouclou, it is hard not to take that into consideration. The impressive part of it is that the quality of the high of Nanan Bouclou is even more outstanding than the exceptional flavor. I need to genetically preserve this by incorporating this into my line!

I'm thinking I should dump a bunch of seeds that I have been saving. I have a number of crosses with SAGE that I need to keep. I like my Bangi Haze crosses, except the cross to Nepal Jam. I liked one of the Nepal Jam from the original generation, but none of it's progeny have been impressive at all. I'm desperate to make seeds from Nanan Bouclou, and I want to play around with Kali Mist some. There are still more tests to be completed, but it is time to narrow in on what is standing out. I can't help but think of the quote attributed to the great Luther Burbank, "breed the best and forget the rest". It is time for a culling of seed stock.

My nl5 x haze(it was given to me as neville haze) had the same effect, like a series of electric shocks, with a strong aroma of incense...I did a hybrid with zamaldelica

one of the last two sage F2s remaining,
at ~13.5wks of 11/13.
no amber on them yet.
low-yielding, like a long-flowering (pure) sativa.
not an over-whelming amount of trich coverage
(unlike the greener-leaners).
they were also the purplest of the bunch.
maybe getting closer to the zacatecas?

LowFalutin,

Thanks for posting the update of your progress and pictures. Looking good sir! How are the aromas?

I've been doing a lot of smoke reports lately, but you are reminding me that this thread has been missing pictures. I'll help remedy that by posting some pictures of some trimmed up Nanan Bouclou soon. In the meantime, here are some SAGE pictures from the cutting I once had:
