The Search for Trip Weed

This made me think of something. Does anyone remember an article in the 70s in High Times? I t was about the Club Des Hashishins from the 1840s in Paris. These writers and scientists would meet monthly to trip out on hash. Some of their accounts were terrifying. Reading those is a far cry from stoner ramblings on YouTube where the whole video is about the aroma. One member was Dr. Joseph Jaques Moreau who was the first scientist to write a book about a drug. He wrote about dreams, hallucinations and Hashishins delirium.

Funny story: in early 2000 a lot of weed in swiss was sold under the name of skunk or superskunk
,although maybe it was afghan,or haze cross,or Orange,...well,one night I was going to a party in an isolated area, after a big spliff,it took me incredible fear, I was really paranoid!I grew up in woods and rivers, i'm also a fisherman,so I'm not afraid to be alone in nature, even at night(no puma or bears where i live) but that night seemed to be in a night documentary in Africa, amplified noises, and pure terror ....many strains(or also many phenotype),in highly dose and particular moments can be trippy...

LMFAO!

I agree so much, and yet, I logged on to give a report on terpenes and aroma of Goo. I'm not even kidding. LOL! I really hope to give a couple of preliminary smoke reports soon. I'm having a party to premier a sample of Nanan Bouclou next week. In the meantime...

Greetings,

From my seed plants, the first to be harvested was Goo. I just checked to see if the buds were dry enough to extract the seeds. They are close. Here's the terpene report.

Grape bubblegum is still the dominant aroma. There is also some hashy weediness to it. This is not anywhere as interesting as Nanan Bouclou, but it matches my memory of this strain. My memory also tells me that this stuff is potent with a good high, so we'll see.

ThaiBliss

I spent the last week harvesting seeds from my two Goo seed plants. The first one I did generated the report I'm quoting above. I completed the second plant the day before yesterday. First, I'm happy to report that the two cuttings I had were definitely different. I was not sure about it before when I noticed slight differences in the leaf shape, but sometimes this happens due to different environments or the timing of it's growth and development. Here is a picture of the two before making seeds:
picture.php

The first plant I harvested had a stronger aroma and matched the description already posted. The second one had less grape aroma. It was more weedy and hashy. I did detect a very slight perfume aroma.

Once the seed harvest job was done, the shake was in a bag, the seeds were on a tray for a bit more drying time, and I had rubbed off most of the hash sticking to my fingers. I rubbed it off onto a piece of paper for a future treat. Then I washed my hands as much as I could with soap and water and some more rubbing together to get as much off as I could. Sometimes I rub my eyes without thinking and I could get a nasty surprise of eye sting if some of that resin gets in them. I kicked back to watch some T.V. before heading to bed.

I started getting these occasional whiffs of a really nice aroma. I was not sure where they were coming from. I smelled my fingers. No, that can't be it. I smell the bag of shake I just created. No. I smelled bag of shake from the first Goo plant. No. I smelled a bag that had a sample of Miss Universe. I don't think so, but maybe. I smelled three pieces of paper with hash samples from Miss Universe and the two Goo plants. Naw. It had to be from the second Goo plant that I just harvested seed from. I smelled the tray of drying seeds. Nope! This aroma was divine, I just could not find it. Since I was not detecting that aroma in the previous days, the second Goo plant had to be the culprit. In my mind, I'm correlating the aroma from the slight perfume aroma I had detected in the buds. It just smells different up close than it does having wafted into the room.

I've smelled something very similar to this before in a few plants I have grown:

Western Winds
SAGE x Purple Haze Thai
Gypsy Thai x (Mullumbimby Madness x Neville's Haze)

I've described the aroma in varying ways due to what it reminds me of:

Incense Cones - I used to burn them in the '70s. I think they were sandalwood incense cones.
Balsa Wood - Some exceptional Colombian weed from back in the day tasted like balsa wood smelled. I use to make small model airplane gliders using this lightweight wood. This perfume-like wood had an intriguing aroma that I still remember after all these years.
Frankincense - I used to have to go to catholic school and church as a young one. I think I used to smell this a funeral homes.

These aromas have something in common to me. The aroma from Goo 2 is some combination of them.

I was planning on growing the children of Goo, Goo x (Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed), from the first Goo plant. Because this aroma seems to excite me and give me instant euphoria, I think I'll grow at least some, if not all, seeds from this second Goo plant. The Bangi Haze has some perfume to it. This became even more pronounced in the cross with Wicked Weed. I'm looking forward to next summer already.

Best,

ThaiBliss

P.S. - All doubt is removed. I started smelling the outside of the bag of shake from Goo #2. It is the source of the enchanting aroma. Also adding a note to indicate that there is limonene not detected before.

BSHW (top pic) and SAGE F2,
at 2wks of 11/13...

bshw's a bit ahead, but had clone-status in its favor.
sage hadn't even gotten to alt.phylo before being kicked off.
they eventually began revealing sex at 11dys, and were all finished
within the next 2dys. quite uniform. also in appearance.
the SAGE above has the glossy light green leaves i remember
from the feugo phenos. it's also the stretchiest now.
loving bshw's thin vine-y stems that revealed themselves in stretch.

Greetings,

I just cut Big Sur Holy Weed and SAGE buds off of my seed plants in the greenhouse. It has been more than a year since I have flowered SAGE. I forgot just how great smelling it is. It slays me. SAGE is super honey sweet and spicy. The spiciness has this quality to it that I have heard described as gunpowder, and I agree. It is also piney. I think BSHW seems a little less sweet and has a touch of perfume to it, but is basically very similar to SAGE. It is also a bit less pungent.

These seeds were spawned by a Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed father that had a pungent perfume aroma that some Bangi Haze individuals had, the ones I liked the high of. I doubt this cross will be early enough to ripen successfully outdoors here, so I will cross it to Nanan Bouclou. Nanan Bouclou has the piney terpene profile that is what I want to carry on in the line. I'll look for a male from SAGE x Bangi Haze x Wicked Weed that has the SAGE terpene profile. Selection and inbreeding will go from there.

I shared some Miss Universe buds with a friend. It was reported to me that it has a calm energy to it. Less of a rocket ship ride than Wicked Weed. Euphoric is one of the words repeatedly used to describe it to me, as well as energetic. To tell the truth this disappoints me. I was told that this strain is exceptionally strong with too much paranoia for some. Because what I was told that about the strain, I was expecting/hoping a more Thai Stick type of high. I'll have to test it for myself, obviously.

Smoke Report

In preparation for the Nanan Bouclou coming out party, I spent all of Saturday preparing. I decided to smoke some Miss Universe to get me through a day doing dishes, sweeping and mopping floors, and scrubbing toilets. I also made turkey soup broth.

I took a few hits through my small glass pipe. I liked the taste. The high gave me enough energy to keep me going through all my chores. I felt the energy my body needed, but my head felt a bit foggy/muddy. I was not particularly impressed. This could all change after a few more months curing, but if I had to decide today, I'd kill off my cut of this. I also might try another plant next summer to see if I get the same result. We'll see how it progresses.

I harvested my Kali Mist seed plant today, among others. The Kali smells very different than the Miss Universe. It has quite a wicked piercing aroma that puts a smile on my face.

I had the Nanan Bouclou party last night. My guest and I were impressed. I'll give a detailed report later tonight or tomorrow.

Good Luck in your Search,

Smoke Report

Greetings,

I made a big deal out of my first test of Nanan Bouclou. I invited a friend over for dinner to sample it together. I spent a long day cleaning the house and cooking a nice dinner. I cooked down my leftover turkey from Thanksgiving into a broth that I used to make some stuffing. I served that up with a butterfly cut chicken breast stuffed with cheese and poblano peppers. My guest brought a nice salad with homegrown veggies drizzled with a 15 year aged balsamic vinegar. We accompanied that with a pint of blonde ale.

As mentioned previously, I had smoked Miss Universe earlier in the day, which kept me focused on finishing all the mundane tasks. By the time we finished dinner, I was feeling fat, happy, and completely ready for a nap. Ending the day at this point would have left me with a feeling of accomplishment.

My friend brought over a vape contraption that we used for our samplings. I really like these things. It can make mediocre tasting bud taste good, and great tasting weed taste sublime. In the case of Nanan Bouclou, it was the latter. The sweetness that had disappeared to my nose after a bit of a cure was front and center using a vape. The first flavor when slowing drawing on that thing was honey. It tasted like honey oil. I wanted to say wow, but I was too focused on getting a nice big hit. This is my only negative comment on these machines. It takes a good 10 seconds to know if you are even getting a good hit. As the hit starts to expand my lungs, I start to notice the basil, menthol, pine, and spice flavors. My god, this is good tasting weed! I don't remember anyone mentioning this in their reports. I had an indica strain before, Purple Bud, that tasted like honey oil. I loved it, and I LOVE the flavor of this Nanan Bouclou! The similarities between the Purple Bud and Nanan Bouclou end with the honey oil flavor.

Purple Bud tasted wonderful, best ever until now, but the high completely lacked any "wow" factor. It was also couch lock. It did not have the heavy limbed feeling that reviles me, but you were pretty much unmotivated and worthless for the rest of the day. Nanan Bouclou is just the opposite. I've read reports of Nanan Bouclou that used the phrase "pure coffee" more than once. I see what they mean, but if coffee did to me what Nanan Bouclou does, I'd drink a lot more of it than I already do.

It did not take very long after my first hit to feel refreshed. It was more than that. I was invigorated with almost no hint of edginess or nervousness. After about 5 or 10 minutes, I felt a second wave of stimulation. This time it felt like a cerebral enlightenment. In no time at all, I left my prone position on the comfy couch to do post dinner chores and then sitting down to play backgammon and dominos (Mexican Train).

I have to note that I didn't think that my first sampling of Nana Bouclou was very strong. It was noticeably stronger than Miss Universe, but at this point it is not game changing strong. That being said, it has most everything I'm looking for my future grows, energetic, cerebral, and decently clear. It is perfect to be used for a breeding tool to tame SAGE into a northern climate strain due to both having the pinene terpene profile. SAGE smells better, but Nanan Bouclou tastes better. Both SAGE and Bangi Haze seem more trippy to me. I think I need more tests to know for sure. :dance013:

Nanan Bouclou seemed to have a stronger effect on my dinner guest. She is a Mensa qualifying brainiac. As we were playing games, she kept stumbling mentally and making mistakes. I gave her shit for it, while I could, by making lots of jokes and we were both laughing often and heartily. Nanan Bouclou is happy weed.

Smoking Nanan Bouclou at night is a mistake if you aren't up for a long night. Then again, you might not know you are up for a long night until after you smoke some. LOL. By the time we smoked some at around 8:00 pm, I could have called it a day. After smoking, we were having a great time socializing until I started to fade at about midnight. I thought I could go right to sleep, and I tried to, but I think it must have been an hour before I drifted off. I woke up again at about 4 am, and it took another 2 hours before I could sleep some more. It may have been due to my excitement in finding another good strain with qualities that reinforce the other strains I have. My mind was reeling at my need to combine these genetics in seed form. However, if I have to work the next day, I'm not smoking Nanan Bouclou after 5 pm.

Once again, I have found genetics that have great qualities, but not potent enough to make me feel like I have world class weed. Perhaps the potency will increase after a long cure. It joins SAGE and Bangi Haze as the kind of weed that many people don't experience much or even know exists. I feel sad for them. If I can use these to play around with in my Wicked Weed stew and genes come together to pop out something with some real kick, then I will have something. SAGE is not early enough for outdoor growing here. Bangi Haze has excellent qualities, is early, but lacks for flavor. Nanan Bouclou is early, tastes awesome, and has a high with very good qualities. I prefer the high of SAGE or Bangi Haze, but Nanan Bouclou tastes so fine and lacks any disqualifying traits. I still want to keep and use them all.

I think Nanan Bouclou is one of those cultivars which better with an aged cure...who knows what aromas would pop out with a 4-6 month cure or a year!!

I have more seeds than i can handle. But I still want alot more. My wants are topped, or very close to being topped by this Bouclou.

this thread makes me want to re-visit s.a.g.e and pop some bangi haze seeds soon as possible. i tried to look through the thread but didn't find your smoke report on ciskei?

i have interest in fast-flowering happy highs so it's a great thread to take notes. also piney/menthol terpenes. trippy too but it's not what i actively seek..for now.
sorry can't offer much to content, except maybe this old pic of bangi haze drysift

Here is my smoke report of Ciskei on this thread:

In all honesty, it could have gone another week of ripening, and the weather in that October was one of the worst I had ever experienced.

Hope this helps,

I once had some cikei plants.
It had kinda mellow feeling, but was powerfull enough with a body buzz.No sleepiness afterwards. Can't remember the exact taste, but it was good. I crossed this with Kali Mist & ihat was the best bud I've ever grown as well in terms of potency, as taste, as yield.

i find it a interesting line, and like with seed plants there always could be winning individuals. but time and space..seems like bangi haze is better bet for those with restrictions.

edit:eek:h and i want to add that drysift smoked was clear, happy stuff. in the end i made some edibles with it and that had mild euphoric effect similar but watered down to some questionable substances, feel good wave going up and down the body.

The best trip weed isn't simply strong, but should allow the smoker to cruise at a high altitude smoothly without turbulence lol...

I avoid strains that give diziness and vertigo sensations, heart racing or tightness in the chest, though an increased heart rate is to be expected with any psycadelic exp. of course.

Tripping hard off weed usually involves the two words Hash and Edibles...Which, while taking hours to kick in, even on an empty stomach, are comparable to strong psycadelics in effect. (Check out the hashish club from 1800's France.)

More than one experienced "Psychonaut" has told me their most intense experience has actually been from hash cake.

Smoke Report

Greetings,

I smoked some Kali Mist last evening and I have some observations. It was also the maiden voyage of a Christmas present I gifted myself, a Pax 3 vape. Again, an evening was made of it with my smoking buddy including lobster dinner, drinks, and party activities.

First off, I had a hard time getting the vape working correctly. The leafy bud material was too moist to be ideal. Also, every vape seems to work slightly differently and, for me, there has been a learning curve. Once I got it lined out and the material dried sufficiently, I got a really good hit off it. It was much better than the previous vape I tried. This brand of machine does a good job increasing the temperature of the chamber when drawing in a hit. I did not have to draw or sip so slowly. If fact, it worked as well as hitting like a regular pipe, but just burning the resins. The net results of my initial difficulties was that I smoked a number of really tiny hits before I got a really good one that made me cough. By that time, I got a strong high. Unfortunately, I don't have a good sense of the dosage, and this should be kept in mind as a caveat to this report.

So, after my first really big hit, I was really high. Kali Mist is stronger than my collection of favorites; SAGE, Bangi Haze, and Nanan Bouclou. The high of Kali Mist is good. It is fundamentally cerebral, up, positive, and clean. My friend reported some anxiety that was described as a nervous fluttering of the stomach. I did not experience that, but I have no idea if we had anywhere close to the same dosage.

In my previous descriptions of SAGE, I noted the high is fairly pedestrian until I reach a peak about an hour after smoking. At that point, the high seems to clear up and a profound feeling of serene "knowing" overtakes me. The high of Kali Mist is superior to the initial high of SAGE, but it does not reach any sort of trippy self discovery or heightened sensory awareness of the world (universe) around me. My friend and I set up a board game to play, but were too high to proceed and abandoned the plan. We did do a lot of conversing, but our conversations lacked the hilarity we experienced with the Nanan Bouclou high.

It is easiest to compare the high and experience of Kali Mist to Nanan Bouclou since that was the last weed I smoked. I feel the need to write about the flavor. My friend just loved the taste of Kali Mist. To me, it is citric and minty, and very refreshing. The buds smell great in a bag. They aroma is minty and citric as well, with the green crispness of celery. The taste lingered pleasantly in my mouth for a long time. However, I did not enjoy it as much as the Nanan Bouclou. It was not even close. After Nanan Bouclou, I felt compelled to go out and spend $260 on a vape so I could experience that fully again. If I had tried Kali Mist first on my friend's vape, I never would have spent so much money on a smoking utensil.

Kali Mist has some good kick to it. The contrast of the quality of the high to Nanan Bouclou makes me appreciate the Nanan so much more. I continue to like SAGE and Bangi Haze the best, but Nanan Bouclou has such a great feeling to it. I previously described it as refreshing and invigorating. It is more than that. It is rejuvinateting.

I have had allergies for the last 15 or 20 years. One year the pollen was especially bad. It piled up on my car windshield and accumulated in the corners of my deck due to the breezes forming eddies. For the first time in my life, I suffered allergic reactions to it, and it has been with me at a low level ever since. I once went on vacation to a tropical country and for the two weeks I was there, my allergies disappeared. The contrast was amazing. I had no idea my allergies were making me feel this bad. Smoking Nanan Bouclou make me feel so good, it feels like all my sickness and disease melts away almost instantly. While Kali Mist is strong, it does not have any such outstanding character to it. I had previously thought that Nanan Bouclou lacked character since SAGE and Bangi Haze are more trippy, but now I am appreciating the wonderful and invigorating nature of Nanan Bouclou. It actually feels like a cure of my ills.

There is nothing wrong with Kali Mist, and I think it is potent and lacks any character flaws of most of the hybrid dribble that is so common these days. I am in desperate need of some weed with some extra cerebral kick to it. Due to Kali Mist's potency, I will definitely grow and test some of the offspring of this mother plant. After smoking Kali Mist, I realize I have been successful at finding some genetics that have highs with outstanding quality. SAGE, Bangi Haze, and Nanan Bouclou are winners with their own unique characters. Kali Mist might be a breeding tool that intensifies the traits I seek.
