Sam, so where did the skunk smell come from in the original skunk breeding was it the afghan or the columbian or acapulco gold? Or was it just that the afghan, the columbian and acapulco golds each had a slight skuniness tothem and when they were all combined in the right way it produced that RKS smell.

Sorry if this is too personal or whatever thats fine to not answer I just was curious as some here say it has to be afghani while others say there was a "skunk" around the midwest dating back to the early part of the 20th century, which was before WLD/Indicas were widley used for breeding meaning it was most likely a NLD/Sativa.

Personally I think Sam could release the original RKS and there would be many that would still say its not true RKS. Its been so long and the brain has a funny way of distorting things so even if it were a true RKS their brains would go with the smell they have twisted it too in their mind and insist its not the same. Also the effects would be hard to match as its been SO hyped. I mean they think of it as this super plant, which compared to what was widely available back then it was, but compared to todays strains, on top of the fact that their tolerance certainly would be way different due to the constant use of moderns starins would also lead them to insist its no the true RKS.

I googled "Mark Castle".

couldn't find anything other than this from a comment in a High Times article, claiming its a quote from "Mark Castle",

don't know who tcvg is I never traded anything for skunk its been around cali since the early 70's I have some of romulan joes romulans and few purples .the skunks I am playing with now I have done from scratch ,its not to hard to combine 3 or 4 strains if you have them .when ever I used something some one has made in a cross I always say who it was from .wes gave me a bunch of elites old og's chems and diesels to try and straighten out because they were all over the place plant wise and he hoped I would work on stablising them I have yet to get to that project .it was easier starting from scratch then try to separate out phenos from multipul crosses to isolate one strain .sooner or later I will investigate to see what I got from wes elites breeding pardner .but its not high on my list of things to do .just about anyone who surfs and went to vancover island in the late 70 and 80's would find lots of joes strains being grown by the local surfers same with skunks humbolt skunk went every where in the 70's and 80's .so if your not talking about wes I don't have a clue about who your talking about.he never gave me anything from joe the only thing I have got from a member here out side of wes was some GDP to see why the old was so good and the new was medioker at best nothing like I remembered it look at the old bricks , bales and hash pattys if you want to know where skunk came from pretty primary strains of that period from 68 on imported wacky tabbakey and seeds in afghan hash aloha cls

I read the last three pages and it seems there are a couple people that have it but are keeping it to themselves & not sharing due to, in large part, pure greed!

Sam, is there any chance you would share some of your stash of SK#1 in order to help Gypsie out? If not, could you please explain, why not?

I attempted to germ some Sensi Seeds SK#1 a few years ago but they were drowned when somebody else attempted to help em on their way.

I would spend good money on Sam Skunkman Original Skunk!

Current skunk is very fruity not skunk but still possesses the skunk in the background....its not og skunk but its still a good strain. Think the name should change tho.....

I do not know if Mendocino Joe was a grower, or Myth, or not, I never met him. I can tell you he had zero to do with Sacred Seeds or with Skunk #1.
There was one person behind Sacred Seeds, me. I had no partners, there was no collective, only me making all the seeds, every one. Sacred Seeds started in 1976, I have seen posts by others that say the "Sacred Seeds Collective", have been around from pre WWII, that is just wacko, I read this and can't believe that some people went to the trouble to make this all up, and then spread the made up rumors and lies as facts. Or that other people believe these made up stories. Some of the stories even I found a bit amusing, but they were not true at all. More it is sad that it shows how easy it is to use the internet to say almost anything, true or not, and get many to believe it.
I should of collected them all, every story was a bit different, some had small bits of truth mixed with the lies and made up "facts" it helped them sound more real, but they were not.
First I made Skunk #1 it was fairly RKS overall, then I started to make it sweeter. It was all by selection within the Skunk #1 population, no other Cannabis was used to make the sweeter Skunk #1, I just grew lots of plants and bred the sweeter ones I liked. Then later switched over to clones I selected as the sweetest and most potent with the best high, to make the Skunk #1 seeds, I field trialed all the clones progeny to find the best parental clones with the highest SCA, I still have those 25 years later.

Did you ever even smoke a Skunk #1 pre 1985 or did you miss the biggest Cannabis history?

My seeds were always guaranteed to germinate 99%, I used to say 100% and just give a few extra so they got over 100%.
No one ever asked me for any replacements in 40 years of seed sales, millions of seeds per year, few can say that.
Any creator of any variety can call it what they like, you should know that....

All I know is I cant believe no one can find the RKS...And bring It to light.

Its a damn crying shame.

I dont have any regrets in Life Except for the round of cuts I did not know to hold and never let go from my teenage years. And I could have kept them too.

If I would have known then what I know now. I could have changed the canna game today.

Because all the stuff Ive popped I cant seem to find anything except for a few choice genetics that are really worth a shit. And Im getting sick of it. Ive got a whole safe full of seeds I have bought. And sense I was a kid the only thing I have decent are two local cuts I got about 10 years ago blow any thing Ive grown from seed. Ya there is some ok flavors and ya some ok power. But nothing like the old days.

I need something Real from somebody soon or Im giving up on the dream.... End of Rant
