I have a pretty low opinion of vets myself.
Emotional predators and manipulators in my experience.
I nave seen quite a few outright scams regards "sick" or "cancerous" animals that cost thousands and did absolutely nothing.
I only use the vet for rabies shots and actually needed bloodwork.
All shots and treatments are done in house with the exception of the rabies tags and major surgeries.
I do take them in if they need a scrip I cannot buy at the feedstore but that's very rare.

I like our vet. We have used him for over 20 years. As stated earlier he helped keep our dog Zoie going and as comfortable as possible in her last couple of years. He isn’t cheap but when prescribing treatments he used common sense and considered the cost. Several times he told us to try a more holistic way to treat her. I appreciated that.

I too think that some vets will take advantage of pet parents. I’ve finally got a vet that I trust but still have been taken by the emergency vet for an ear infection taking many different samples of each ear where if had not been on the weekend, my vet would have just smelled his ears like in the past knowing they required ear meds saving me the cost of unnecessary tests which he would know the outcome. A difference of 400.00. I’ve also had a vet look at my 14 year old dog and mentioned that she had a little tarter. I thought “have you looked in the mirror lately?” No way I was gonna sedate my old girl to have her teeth cleaned unless there was a problem…
Good morning peoples, I let the boys out earlier and when I got up, I was sitting there cover with mud again. At least I got a shower and some clothes on before I had to go out and deal with the mud. I’m hopefully gonna be able to mow my yard today, the grass is way too tall because of the rain
What elevation are you at?
I have four different ways to cut the yard using antique tractors and belly mowers and then on the modern tractors I have pulled behind finish mowers too. The machine that I use 90% of the time is a Ferris 61” inch cut big block motor that I’ve had for almost 14 years now. When I finally sell my building. I’m going to treat myself to a new lawnmower because at this age they usually start coming apart.

House finished floor sits at 5,883 feet above sea level roughly.
