Insomniac - Glad to see you're right into your grow
Let us know when you start up a thread!
You probably wouldn't regret going with the HID ballast. I tried a flouro grow once, and ended up with a mere couple grams. It just wasn't worth the time and effort.
Though I have seen some impressive CFL grows.
250W are unfortunatly only $20 or so cheaper than the 400W. I know for me it makes me feel better about my power consumption and makes it seem more personal.

Jenna - I never measure anything So I couldn't tell you how much I added to what amount of soil mix, but yes, I did mix some epsom salts right in the soil.
I figured the presure and moisture would help the salts disolve as time went on. I had read before others adding epsom salts to their soil mixes, so it wasn't an original idea from me.
I do also add a pinch of epsom salts to almost every feeding. I don't bother in disolving, I just mix a pinch in my watering jug and figure the soil can take care of the rest of the work :wink:

I might wait to start a thread. I would like to set up my stuff more, and get a little bit of a handle before going into a thread. I noticed the prices on 400w and 250w were very close. I just don't know if I want to deal with the heat and energy usage of a 400w yet. I don't remember if I asked, but what nutes/teas are you using?
I am starting to see signs of sex, so within the next week I'll be chopping or

Hiya Insomniac - hope you and TML don't mind me sticking my $0.02 in. The difference in heat and energy consumption - an extra 150 watts - is not all that much, but the increase in lumens to the plants is a lot. IMO you'll be much happier with the 400. I went with a 250 MH for my veg area, and if I had to do it over again for the little bit of price difference I'd go for the 400.

I never really use any teas (used to use Terracycle EWC tea, was too much $$) but my nutes are simple: Alaskan Fish Ferts 5-1-1 for veg and Muskie Fish Ferts 5-10-5 for flower. I Usually add a pinch of epsom salts for feeding also. Earth Worm Castings are a part of my N too in my mix. Bone meal for P in the flower buckets. Cow and chicken manure and shrimp shell compost also adds a tiny bit of its own NPK.

Mr GreenJeans - You know your are always welcome here. In fact...why don't you empty your whole wallet out, I'll take that too :wink:

Well I had a very successfull X-mas afew treats that were dropped in my stocking :

^ The Clause left me a pack of King Size aLeda's (which I've been cutting in half as you can see) I love these 100% organic cellulose rollies. Can't taste them at all, all you can taste is your bud. They roll well. Stick great, even without glue. Best thing about them is how slow and resinous they burn.
The Clause was also kind enough to leave a 1/4 of that kind unknown strain bagweed pictured above.
I'm smoking that joint now....mmmm

My favourite treat from Cannabis Clause was this pack of seeds:

Willy Jack's Pacific Shark - Jade Mikado X Great White Shark

^^ I really wanted something with Mikado in it, and me and the Clause discusssed that over some hot canna-chocolate and canna-butter cookies

Great White Shark as a cross was a complete shock to me.
After knowing of a trusted review like Jenna's on that strain I has a happy man to recieve these beans

I've come to trust Willy Jack's beans and I'm sure I won't be dissapointed with these

Here's the info I've found on the crosses:
Willy Jack's site has been down for almost a year now it seems and they offer very little information. I know nothing of their Jade Mikado besides it was parented from Federations Mikado. Where the Jade comes in

Heres the info Federation offers on Mikado:
indica. The Mikado is a quick maturing, large-yielding strain that's predominantly Indica, but with a long jagged single leaf with pattern. Under the 18 hours light, the stems and leaves are coated with crystal. The female plants show hairs making sexing a breeze. Liked for its long-lasting, playful high, Mikado can be enjoyed 45 days after flowering is initiated. Perfect for a sea of green.

The Great White Shark is from Greenhouse seeds and is parented from Brazilian Super Skunk X South Indian White Widow

Little Plant Update
The Veg box has become the sexing box
I took cuts of Hempstar-3, Freeze-1, and Hempstar-2 (the topped plants) and placed them in water. This time in opague cups and black tape over the top (so they can root while they're sexing...if they like ).
Hempstar-1, Grape, and Freeze-2 all fit right into the veg box, so can be sexed without cutting
All the topped plants are still under the MH and have went into full LST mode.

Should be less than a week now till I know all the plants sexes

Cloning wars will begin after that

Freeze-1 cutting turned to mush. I thought it was a little short and stubby, had a big leaf attached too oh well...not knowing about 1 plant for a week or two won't kill me...I hope.

Figured all should show by day 10 of 12/12 sexing...It's day 4 now.

So...here's the scoop:
All the single cola plants that were placed in the sexing box (Grape, Hempstar-1, and Freeze-2) are all female

The plants that were cut for sexing still havn't shown. Neither have they started rooting kinda makin me think I shoulda just changed the main light to 12/12 to sex them all at the same time. oh well.

Freeze-1 (who's sexing cut turned to mush) went directly in the sexing box now. Still unknown sex

Hempstar-3 My hugest, fastest growing plant, the cutting is looking great, just not showing. Hempstar-3 is too big to fit in the sexing box with the other plants.

Hempstar-2 is now in the sexing box along with it's cutting that still looks great and healthy, just not showing sex.

Both Blueberry plants have been re-potted into the flowering pots, and cut for clones. Clones were placed in the gel rooters, we'll see how they do
Blueberry has come under attack by mites once again They only attack BB for some reason though. They have not affected any of the other plants...which I find very very strange.

Both Blueberry plants will be up for flower first with another undecided plant. I need an early harvest this time around and BB can finish in under 50 days.

Flowering will start in about 1 week, which puts me almost a week behind where I wanted to be.

Definately a bad description for a marijuana seed strain on that GWS. Doesn't even make sense when I'm stoned
Lotsa girls yeah, maybe too many girls Was planning on having some males to cull.

Mr GreenJeans - I'm gonna get them once and for all if it kills me MGJ
I searched once again all over for some DE, or anything with DE in it. I noticed when searching online for products alot were branded as "insect powder" but even to order online for me, some places want ridiculous shipping. I found some powders at the hardware store, some which boasted the killing of mites, but all were chemicals I've never heard of.
I purchased a Safer's product called "Trounce" which is for spider mites. It's a spray on pyrethrin. Can't be used in flower, but I figured if I get them all before then, then keep them away with some Safer's soap once in early flower.
Come spring when the nurserys re-open, I hope to find some DE. A few ladybugs will be easy to catch too!

Jenna - Yes, The Grape is the little freak, and she's a cute little lady. Will be easy to keep her in veg box.
Dunno why they only like Blueberry right now, but I'll count that as a blessing and kill'em before they get to any other plants.
Since you've grown out Great White Shark a little description would be appreciated.
