Smoke weed and listen to black sabbath

Ahh,heavy ass, fuzzed out riffs based on the pentatonic minor.Stoner rock, doom metal.Call it what you will.
It all boils down to Black Sabbath anyway:joint:
It starts with the electric chicago blues,(howlin' wolf et. al) and a number of britsh manufacturers of vacuum tube guitar amplifiers (Marshall,Hiwatt,Matamp,Orange etc.).
Jimi,Cream,Zeppelin,Blue Cheer and Deep Purple all heralded the birth of something new on the horizon. Something drenched in fuzz, wreathed in clouds of combusted cannabis. Black....fucking....Sabbath!
Four stoners from Birmingham who gave birth to heavy metal as we know it today.Through all the major trends in heavy music through the last 30-odd years someone has kept their torch burning, even after they themselves strayed into indulgence and heresy.
Ever since sabbath some bands have kept this first strain of metal going. In dank, smoky rehearsal spaces all over the globe, groups of irie young men are following the religion of the all powerfull riff as the holy vehicle of the groove, handed down to us in the first four gospels(albums) of the founders.

(Essential)Bands to check out: Sleep,St.Vitus,Pentagram,The Hidden Hand,Spirit Caravan,The Obsessed,Slo Burn,Earthless,Acid King,Nebula,Earthride.

anybody wants suggestions of some awesome shit to listen to whilst baked, the following music I find thoroughly mind-blowing during a sick sesh:

After the Burial- anything off of their Rareform CD, definitely "Aspiration" and "The Fractal Effect"
Veil of Maya- Anything off of Common Man's Collapse, mainly the interlude "Pillars" and "Crawl back"
Meshuggah- "Rational Gaze" .. Nothing is an excellent CD altogether though
Beneath the Massacre- "Comforting Prejudice" "Nevermore" "Society's Disposable Son"
Necrophagist- "Seven" "Only Ash Remains"
Attack Attack!- "Stick Stickly" not for everybody but that shit is nuts
Suicide Silence- "...And Then She Bled" or "Lifted"
Born of Osiris- "Open Arms to Damnation" and "Abstract Art" their new CD is tech as shit!
August Burns Red- "Composure" and "Back Burner"
Decapitated- "Day 69"
Cephalic Carnage- "Endless Cycle of Violence" "The Omega Point"... Xenosapian is my fave CD of theirs it's highly recommended if you like the songs mentioned
Strapping Young Lad- "Skeksis" "Love" honestly havent had a chance to listen to their other CDs enough to know the songs by name but I can tell you pretty much all their CDs are nuts.. Alien is my favorite though.
Just songs I love listening to baked as far as what metal I listen to as a whole shit fucking everything.. my 120GB iPod is full. That's all I gotta say lol. deathcore, tech-death, prog-death, straight death metal, black metal (has a special place in my blackened little heart), blackened death, some thrash (slayer and metallica are really it, some megadeth), 80s hair metal, Judas Priest and Ozzy dont even kno where to class them just straight up metal I guess Randy Rhoads was and always will be my #1 inspiration to play guitar. I even like Slipknot a lot actually. They were unique and still are and do what they want and dont give a fuck what people think and thats the only attitude to have as an artist so I respect that. Anyways thats what I like as far as metal goes heh. Peace out peeps.

Pandora radio gives me something old, something new, something in the same "genre" and sometimes something even kewl.

Obscure stuff, live versions and some bands that are not new, but knew to me.

I remember back in the day, like year or so before Faith No More had their big hits, was jammin the old stuff and got the new album, played it for everyone, they said it was shit, set it aside and then like 18 months later, it is everywhere. nice....

Well i think that all these Doom/Stoner bands are getting quite popular in 2009

Let´s hope 2010 will be even better :witch2:
