99.7% of the RKS fanclub thread were tales of remembered skunk, didn't really have many facts other than there were more than one skunk lineages, and the two main types of plants remembered as RKS seems to be a thin, leggy, light green/golden NLD that had harder, denser, smaller buds with big bracts, few hairs, and light-heavy trichome coverage. Supposed to be "the one", pure skunk spray dead skunk.

Then the other is a squater, broader, WLD with a bigger yeild of fluffier nugs, orange hairs, and heavy trichome coverage. The smell is also supposed to be pure skunk spray, but, usually intwined with some other smell, such as rotten, spicy, or savory, and sometimes even sweet or fruity. Most would say if its anything other than skunk, it ain't RKS, some said opposite.

Lot's of people squabbling over remembered "facts", a few posted over the years and said they have it, are breeding with it, then dissapearing forever. There were some leads that were interesting, and some stories that were awesome, and lines were recomended for finding skunks in current offerings. I'm actually still hoping a specific member posts up pics of a cut they have of a supposed RKS plant. :)

At least, that's how I'd sum up that thread.

Yeah ok....you are one of those. gotcha.

There's a difference between being pessimistic and realistic. You need to understand that.

* you can grow your three 20 wk varieties...without fear...all you want....that doesn't even get you close to the efforts and numbers you would need.

reality is a motherfucker

right on both , problem is people come to the forum to escape reality . lol

I just ordered some Colombian Gold seeds about 10 minutes ago and hope it all goes
well. They sure look like wild beasts and definitely look harder to control ( i.e. branchy) than
the landrace Kerala I've grown.

Oh well, it should be lots of fun finally growing a landrace Colombian after looking at them for so long.

Colombian Gold is supposedly 50% of the Original Skunk genetics.
So I think that's a step in the right direction.

Well there is no harm in trying. You stated earlier in this thread you can't clone very well. I would work on general gardening skills before trying to breed plants. Its kind of necessary to clone to be a breeder. It isn't like crossing the strains and bang there is RKS. DJ Short has been recombining his same seeds for 40 years and something different comes out each time. I appreciate your aspirations but it just isn't going to happen.

I have made seeds many times before.

My cloning is about 25% success now from 0% in the past.

Oh well, at least I'll have fun trying anyways.

Yes and that's all that matters!

And there is a great thread on cloning, I'll find the link for you. You will be getting 100% success in no time!

I've got to disagree, the UK cheese doesn't taste or smell as you describe it. It doesn't smell or taste like any cheese we put on toast or a hot potato in my opinion.

Peace

hey oldbean.:)

I'm sorry maybe I should have described cheese a little better for you guys. Cheese doesn't smell a little like cheese... it smells EXACTLY like cheese. and if it didn't why would they call it cheese? that's like DJ short calling blueberry.. blueberry because it smelled like pineapples... maybe the cut you got was a fake or heavily polluted....??
All kidding aside. let me describe cheese the best I can for you. so the next time you'll know you have it.:) Cheese smells like aged cheese. not Cheddar cheese.. Like age pecorino romano with a dash of rocquefort cheese and musty basement funk. it's disgusting in a good way. and if grown right it should tingle the nose it so strong.. Once you have the real deal you will never forget that smell.....

As for the road kill skunk smell. like the name implies ..Skunk smells like skunk that's why sam named it that. and not cheese.
RKS smells similar to cheese but NOT the same... get what i'm saying?
RKS smells exactly like dead skunk funk to the max. there is no hiding this bud! when you smoke it. The room, your clothes, your hair reek for hours..... people give you dirty looks in public.

I hope this sums up the differences a little better for you.

peace

I have never had any cheese that was fruity or sour or anything but rank chedder and funk of some aged cheese. Cheese across the board flavor wise. First cheese I ever had was in 1997. What a fucking night that was too. Traveling with a band, snowed into a hotel room with 13 people and a fat sack of cheese lol. Wonder whatever became of those naked hippie girls, sigh...

Had some cheese handed to me a few months ago and it was the same thing, and what a flashback.

I just read the last few posts from being away for a little while.

And all I want now is some Gouda cheese and it's all your fault.

Looks pretty good. Stupid stores are all closed now.

I keep cuttings of the plants until a selection is made. Small scale
crossing program works for me. Growing from two lines of the
first cross and into F2 selections.

Culled the original P1 female circa 1979 to keep things interesting, lol.

All the F2 males, all culled so far, have been full on skunk.

I'm crossing to a cherry scent from the P1 male, and so far
have not been dissapointed.

I will re address the skunk thing after i finish my first project.

Check back in about eighteen months.

Has anybody got a packet of 1990's sensi seed bank superskunk?

That's where the best phenos are to be found. Before UK cheese got its name it was just superskunk.

We have some f2s made in 1990 , we havnt manage to get any seeds to germ recently , but re last time was about 8 years ago , they were proper dirty skunk some smelt like dead bodies some like boot polish , hardly any insane sweet ones just a bunch of smells that you would not associate with cannabis , we could see where all the different phenos would lead to wierd messe up smells like berries and fruites to deep resin skunk , road kills just they needed refining , I can see how the mass super skunk added enough to make crosses from her very interesting .
Super skunk was sensi attempt at recreating sk1 but they used a different Afghan and the rest is history , I have an actual clone that came from seed in 1990 it's a traditional super skunk from sensi , it stinks of grapes and fruity super skunk it smells of bo up till week 6 of flower so much so it's name bo baracas , I'm so lucky to have been gifted her for breeding , I have a nice collection of skunks and skunks from seed including the sssc seeds from 1984 to 89 if they pop we will have real skunk males to work with to my old clones , I'm a total skunk lover and commited to working on brining true skunks back ,they are the building blocks to most elite strains we have today , but no one has them any more that ship sailed and left years ago , well it did in the seed banks that's for sure . Only private holders have them now .

You have F2's??! Bo baracas sounds interesting, I'm guessing its kind of like a minced pie smell like beef & onion???

Damn! Bring back the skunk!

The bo is classic super skunk deep fruity berry cherry and grape but totally typical sensi super skunk , when I mentioned all these smells and stuff every single one comes with a dank smoke and taste , just some smell very wierd

Bo sounds like something I would enjoy smoking! From the description you give sounds similar to psychosis:biggrin:????

Peace

See the thing is the psychosis is very very cheese dom so blanks out other things , the bo is so fruity deep oily skunk by far the strongest smelling thing I have even more so than the pineapple , the pineapple is heavy sk1 dom , I've just feminised the two together seeds be ready for me to test in about 4 t 5 weeks I honestly can't wait and my agent orange X pineapple I'm looking for proper old school orange skunk deep lingering orange not the bitter orange peel that the agent o has and passes to lots of strains , I made one years ago called special ops was agent orange pynamite shiva was so spot on for orange skunk but lost the seeds ,
I really remember the whole sensi catalogue like it was yesterday I'm bringing the classics back best I can , concentrating on strong terps like lemon, pine, orange, skunk, and sativa haze oil spice hybrids , to much generic tasting poor yielding stuff around now days IMO it's all the same

I have an old line that IMO falls in the RKS category... Problem is is most of the weed would be fairly un marketable, the pheno's are still scattered because it's not cost effective enough to do any amount of the variety unless for extracts or something... And finally because honestly some of the pheno's actually bother my sense of smell... I too like tasty fruity joints as well... And some of these smoke rough... Never tried them all but potency seems middle road so maybe good for a cross or something

Not even sure these are skunk, but they have very old world dark and serrated but narrow leafs and structured a lot like some Skunk pheno's I saw.... Throws out the odd lighter green one too with more one branch nodes instead of symetrical... But that may have been a pollen drift on my part over the years I kept her...

That and the Madi are my two I've held for ever and still have, but are so hard to devote any time to, and end up mixed....

I know what people mean about the smells you wouldn't associate with cannabis.

I grew nirvana bubbelicious in 2004 & made some beans from that pack & grew them out.....one day i stupidly took a couple of oz wrapped up in plastic baggies in my rucksack on the train..... My carriage smelt of pure skunky weed to me but the guy behind me complained to the ticket inspector that he could smell burning rubber:laughing: and that he thought the brakes were on fire or something

The ticket inspector just looked at me & opened a window lol

I walked thru a bar once looking for a friend with an ounce of Bubblegum and got some
dandy looks also. Before I got to leave, some old female friend ran to me and asked me if
I knew where she could could score some weed. Like she didn't already know that. I gave
her a few grams outside for old times sakes and went on my way to a house party.
