Well since you guys are cracking yours this week I will probably germ as many ol' mendos as I can around the week of the 25th. It won't be a waxing crescent here but not too far off. I have a feeling that the harder ones to germ are the rarer more desirable plants so lets pull all the tricks outta the bag this time guys. Hopefully we can keep this thread rolling and find some of those african and thai hybrids. I'd love to find that african or choco thai in here lets keep our fingers crossed that someone does. I don't know how much it will help but I'm grouping the seeds by size shape mottling pattern and caruncle.

" I don't know how much it will help but I'm grouping the seeds by size shape mottling pattern and caruncle."

Good idea Zamalito
I opened the first pack of Old Mendo and watched the seeds under a 10x lens...one was very small and cracked, the other 19 look good.I´m soaking 10 and tomorrow, when I have the time,I´ll try to compare the 4 remaining x-18 with the 9 Old Mendo, just to see if there´s any similar :D
Here´s a 3rd gen. cutting of the XVIII:

and one PTK cutting, also from the 3rd gen. :D

Hello friends,

After 48 hours, most of the Deep Chunk and Pine Tar Kush (70%) are showing healthy roots, especially PTK which is germinating more vigorous.

Im germinating them with destiled water, classic paper towel method.

Im going to plant them this afternoon. I think im going to save Old Mendo for next year. Too much work at the moment. Have a nice week! dubi

Wow, I don't know how I missed this thread. Tom, thank you for doing what you do!
You are truely a humble and incredible man, not many folks have the love and willingness to share that I see in you. I'm glad you are bringing back the community of sharing and true love of this plant that you remember back in the day. Our current community could do with a little more of that kind of thinking these days.

I see you've gotten these genetics out to some outstanding individuals as well! Best of luck with these beans zam, Raco, bonecarver, dubi, and all others. This stands to be the begining of really great things to come! I can't wait to see some buds. :D

Germination report

Germination report

I made a mistake about germinations, PTK is germinating almost perfectly but the DC is doing it quite slower.

I put 15 PTK in water past Friday, 13 germinated vigorously showing long roots in 2 days. They were planted in soil, first 4 are opening the surface this morning.

I also put 12 DC in water at the same time than the PTK, but only 4 germinated vigorously, the others seem to wanna open after a few days but definatly slow to germinate. 4 DC were planted yesterday the rest are still in paper towel waiting for a larger root.

My last 6 old Mendo seeds Tom gave me a while ago are not popping. He says they are different from the Old Mendo seeds he sent out and are actually a strain of Northern Lights from up in the hills of NorCal. I had gotten about 20 from him and only one popped but the root shot up instead of down and even though I righted it immeadiately it did not have the strength to make it. :(
Theres gonna be some nice stuff if some of em will sprout. Irie, Bud
