i think they are working towards bringing fans back, especially for the playoffs
there was a team this weekend that let friends and family of the team attend the game, so a few hundred people
a couple teams allow limited capacity

Green Bay Packers go! But i don´t watch american football no more, it´s a waste of time with all the commercial breaks.

Yeah, I thought the rams were done after falling behind 28-7 in the 2nd half, but it was an impressive comeback to take the lead. They would have won too if not for a flimsy PI call on 4th and 9. Donald had a huge strip sack and couldn’t be blocked 1 on 1 the whole game, Darrell Henderson is showing his talent after setting a record by averaging 9yd/rush his last year in college, and goff played well after shaking off an early interception. It wasn’t great that they fell behind so much, but to storm back and take the lead against a top 3 team with a QB playing like an mvp, that’s pretty promising.

Speaking of the other top 2 teams, ravens and chiefs didn’t turn out nearly as close. Ravens D couldn’t stop chiefs for the most part, and Ravens O wasn’t clicking. They really couldn’t get the running game going as much as I thought they would, when they fell behind by 2 scores even though it was still first half I guess they decided to put it on lamar’s shoulders. Their passing game was just a little off the whole game, lamar is pretty accurate but not elite in that regard. Still, they got it to within 1 score in the 2nd half but in the end lost by 2 scores. I heard a stat that lamar has 4 regular season losses and 3 of them are to the chiefs and mahomes, so maybe it’s just a bad matchup all around for them.

I have noticed that you can hear the audibles more and the lineman calling out protections at the line now. But also I think most stadiums are pumping some sort of crowd noise into the stadium, and even the ones that are only 25% full, the crowd that’s there can still be heard very well, or maybe the microphones are just turned up more on the crowds than before.
I think the bears have some of bear growl they play, not sure about that. It’s sort of college-y or even high school-y to play those sorts of sounds but ur right, if it pumps up the fans and adds entertainment value, it cant be bad.

Sucks that 3 titans players and 5 staff/coaches have tested positive, and the Vikings have also shut down practices since they just played the titans. I guess we all knew this was a strong possibility, there’s such close contact during games and there’s always a lag in testing, like u could be positive for a day or two but most common testing will turn out negative?
Maybe from now on those covid face shields will be mandatory on helmets. If the titans and Vikings have to cancel their upcoming game, they could make it up on their bye week but there’s not that much wiggle room in the schedule if a team has to cancel multiple games.

Sorry to hear youre no longer following american football, Herman, but i can understand why. Those commercials ARE excessive. I remember one year the nfl kept playing these chevy truck commercials, couldnt get that dang jingle out of my head all day. The worst is when they go commercial, punt or kickoff, then commercial again. It's like, give me more than 10 secs of football in between commercials guys!
When i dont have the game recorded, i usually try to switch channels (kind of hard on a free internet stream i know) or browse my phone or tablet during commercials.

Every 3rd or 4th seat sounds about right for 6ft of separation, Disko. Plus staggering fans between rows, so fans arent sitting directly behind each other. I think the vast majority of people with corona dont suffer severely from it, is your sense of smell fully back?

what time do the games come on in croatia? disko
you cant help but root for cam and i like his style of play
tb in tampa is huge and they look like an exciting team this year, they are definitely worth keeping an eye on
so how did you get into gridiron football?
/herman' once mentioned it was the american airmen in europe that brought him the sport, i was wondering how you got into it?

hondo (d.henderson) has really stepped up and the rams look like they could have a decent ground game
the problem with the rams offense is they dont have that big star to go to in clutch situations on offense
goff is doing great but i dont see him putting the team on his back just quite yet
the ground game used to ahve gurley to light things up but now there really isnt that one player who you turn to in crunch time
defensively they are ok and donald is having an off the charts start
i just with someone on the offense would step up and really take the team to the next level
the chiefs are just too hot to handle right now it seems
the defense is holding their own but the offense is on fire
i am enjoying the game noise and dont mind the low roar they pipe in, but its definitely effected the play call in some games
i think they are getting a lot more hard counts now because the stadium is so quiet and teams have to go an extra step to disguise their audibles
hopefully the covid is contained to the titans and it wont disrupt the schedule too much
they have already postponed the steelers game so it looks like we will be getting some extra football somewhere down the line
no one on the vikings has tested hot so it looks like their season will go on as planned
so i was checking out the football and they had a new taco bell commercial for some cheesy wrap (or something like that) with a couple crunchy tacos for the $5 deal
man that got me craving crunchy taco big time
i went to the store and got a couple boxes of shells and am going to brown up some ground beef here for lunch
i cant wait!
/i think i might even have some taco bell sauce

Aaron was on Jim Rome today and as soon as I heard his name I wondered if he was there to say again what a good bitch his coach was being this year, and sure enough it was. I hope he covers this week because I have money on it and he paid last week too. Thing is I'm 5-0 ATS and they're one of 5 picks I have this week - so if everything evens out, then he'll be putting out Atlanta's dumpster fire. There are overlong games and I think it was the end of the tie game last week especially that dragged on and on, but it's not about the commercials.

I think most of Europe is 6-8 hours ahead of the US, so our early nfl games here show up around 6-8pm there. Works out well for them to settle in to watch the first set of games after dinner, the later games and of course night games not so much, unless they stay up into the wee hours.
NFL Europe used to be a thing, they had several teams over there before shutting it down, so maybe that got some interest going. It seems like Europe is all about soccer, mostly, so offering a little variety to sports fans there is a good thing. Still, I think the stoppages in between each play in American football is something soccer fans dislike. They want constant free flowing action.

Gurley was like the best non-QB in the league when he was on, most teams don’t have a weapon like him. But I get you, you want that elite player (QB usually) to lean on in big games, and goff is playing within his limitations but a good team will try to get him to play into those limitations. Fwiw, I think he’s been throwing on the move better, when it’s a designed play at least.
I remember a time when Khalil mack or aaron Donald, who’s better, was still a question. Sigh. But Jalen ramsey, im not sure, he gave up some big passing plays vs the bills. He’s supposed to be the best CB in the league, he needs to shut down whoever he’s covering.

Supposedly steelers-titans will be Mon or Tues night, so just a one or two day delay. But the titans cant practice till Saturday, so they’d be at a big disadvantage with so much less practice time than the steelers.
But ur right, the fact that no Vikings seem to be infected is huge. Whew!

Heh, I actually got that $5 box at taco bell, of course that triple wrap was flat as heck and had like 1/3 the filling in the commercial, but at least the tacos were good. Their tacos are simple but it works, shell beef lettuce shredded cheese, no onions tomatoes sour cream etc, although those would be good too.

I don’t know, Gojoe, I don’t think Rodgers had too much input when lafluer was hired, and lafluers focus on a run first offense (at least last year) kept Rodgers numbers down (but good for winning and his longevity) and also picking a QB in the first rd this past draft definitely wasn’t in his favor. The nfl isnt like basketball, where a superstar like lebron can influence trades (getting Anthony davis for instance). Even the pats let brady go after last season, and they had just won the superbowl the season prior.

GB is favored by 7, but the line moved from 5pts? Did you get in at 5? What site do you use or do you go to a parlor? I think sports betting is legal in all 50 states now.

gb+7 against the falcons sounds like money in the bank
(+5 even better)
i thought atl was going to have a decent season, but so far they have done nothing
a.rog and the pack are red hot

i think europe has become a hotbed of basketball talent too in the past decade or so, but you are right that their #1 sport is soccer by far
its cool that the game enjoys an international following and im always interested in hearing how people enjoy the game
i agree that the taco bell crunchy taco is simple but brings the flavor, i could eat a bunch of those things
the $5 box looked ok, but i wasnt too sure about that cheese thing they had with it
the chalupa one was the best deal so far: a chalupa, taco and a burrito with drink and those twists all for $5
the ground beef tacos were grinding and i have a few left over for tonights game
now it looks like the pitt/ titans game s going to be further postponed and hopefully the spread of the virus is contained
broncos v jets should be an all right game; p.lyndsay is out for tonight so we will see a lot of melvin gordon
cant wait for the weekend action to start
i will probably get the chargers tampa bay early and then the rams v nyg in the afternoon game
bills/ raiders and pats/ chiefs should also be good games too
hope you are wrapping up your week nicely and getting all set for the weekend!

I don’t think Rodgers had too much input when lafluer was hired

That's the problem. Aaron made it clear last year he didn't like the coaching. This year he says the coach is doing what he wants, now that he was instructed how to call plays properly in the offseason.

-5 was only available to those who had already physically signed up at Westgate in Vegas for a mobile account, and for sure the geolocating would have prevented bets here if I had it installed. I've never signed up offshore so am not going to start now. Others opened at -7.

Speaking of the difference between Europe and US I can't see how they're too cool for Taco Bell and Mexican food in general, with McD's everywhere (a shittier burger than BK no less). When TB tacos were .49 I'd buy 10 all the time, only, but haven't been there since they went higher. Never once bought fast food anywhere else. Sometimes there would be a new person that would actually properly fill out the taco, and it was like GB covering the spread. You're on your own with extras, except the hot or mild. I wonder if the ingredients are the same or how exactly they're sourcing their ''beef'' and ''cheese'' nowadays. This naturally leads to Hormel's tamales.

At some point they or someone had them in husks and they were fine, and in the 80's the Hormel product was edible, but in these shareholder payoff days I would not put much faith in most any product being the same as it was 40 years ago. I'm not sure their ham is even the same, although their bacon was still the best before I gave it up.

Thats why I always watch highlights on Yt.. But I smoke too much and forget half of what I watched.. scores and things..lol..
but they ruined NFL with all those commercials and dragging..

Yes Everything is back to normal.. I even feeling like I will havew real flu, or just cold.. I dont know who are they fckng in head with all those measures..

Its everyday 200 of new infected in my country and maybe 2-3 dead. and they dont say how old they were, and what illnesses they had.. .
If it is so dangerous whole world would be devastated til now by numbers of dead.. this whole thing is bullshit.Or this summer c19 isnt the same as first one..

This right now Is higher agenda..What kind? I dont know but I'm convinced it is..

@pop_rocks

It depends ..Today game starts in 2:30 am.. But sunday games sometimes starts at 7pm (19h)
I didn't have any particular feeling about Cam ,before Carolina did him so dirty and whole League turned their back to him.. I was secretly hoping that PATS will pick him up.. Oh boy I was so happy, like when they signed AB (ok that didn't end well)..

I must say that Tom didn't impress me so far, or Tampa.. I think he needed to retire..But Hell.. I will cheer for him just because of all of his accomplishments ..

I dont know where we In communism countries were first introduced or have any touch with AF, but From first time I was intrigued.. But I didn't know the rules(like baseball I still dont know) , so when our broadcast Tv company started to cover games with explanation of rulez, I got hooked..It was 2015 or 2016. Cant remember..

Soccer is nr1
Basketball is nr2 In europe...

Falcons had 14+pt leads in the 4th quarter against dallas and Chicago, with 99% win probabilities, and ended up losing both. I think I saw that there have been less than 15 such games like that in the last 40 years, and, atlanta has had 2 in a row now, lol.
So they’ve done enough to get those leads, just the terrible play at the end kills them. So im not sure GB +7 is guaranteed, but julio is hurt (didn’t play last week), ridley also, and ur right, GB’s offense hasn’t been stopped. I don’t know, I keep arguing with myself, lol, maybe atlanta will lose big.

The one thing I like about soccer is that there’s no commercial breaks and a 90 minute game is literally 90 minutes (plus less than 10 mins of stoppage time from fouls and ref calls), not 3 hours. So im always impressed with that, but the finer aspects of the game elude me.

The woman loves TB’s crunchy tacos, and for a fast food taco it’s pretty good, and more importantly almost never bad.
I wasn’t into the Bell much back in the day, GOJoe, but I do hear about the times when they had 59-99 cent items that are now $2-4. Those were the days, eh? And yeah, their ground beef, it’s about 80% meat, and the rest is spices and textured vegetable protein (ie soy, maybe yeast flavoring). Whatever it is, i swear it tastes better than most legit taco ground beef ive tried. And I don’t think Mexican food enjoys much popularity outside of the Americas (north and south), just not really a thing in Euro-Asia.

Supposedly the jets will fire gase if he loses to Denver tonite, but otherwise people are calling this the toilet bowl game. But it’s football, so it might be entertaining so long as points actually get scored.

I didn’t watch the interview so ill take ur word for it, Gojoe. For all the complaints about mccarthy, at least he put the offense on Rodgers shoulders. Maybe with a 1st rd rookie QB behind him, he feels the need to show he’s not washed. Regardless, most fantasy football experts thought he’d put up low end stats again, but he’s showing he’s still got some juice left.
I hope your bets turn out winners, do you ever bet on other sports?
And I agree, things were made better back in the day, but inflation is a thing and a dollar 20-30 years ago goes a lot farther than a dollar today. Candy that was 10cents when I was a kid is 1/3 the size and 3x the price now, not that I eat much candy. And with plant based meat being the new rage (beyond burgers, etc) then maybe meat will be very rare/expensive in another 20-30 years?

I don’t pay much attention to sports even when I have it on, Disko. Unless it’s the playoffs or something, I just look up when a highlight happens, so I get where youre coming from.
Glad to hear youre fully recovered. Yeah, most of the athletes who contract it, their symptoms are usually mild or non-existent. Maybe 100 years ago, when the Spanish flu killed millions worldwide, it had more to do with the lack of medical technology and cleanliness than the deadliness of the virus.

thanks for sharing your thoughts disko, like i said i really enjoy hearing how people enjoy their sports
that eu basketball video looks like crazy fun and the fans really get into things
/if someone lit a flare off in a us stadium i think it would be considered a criminal act
i agree that cam was kind of mishandled in carolina and i hope he has a few good years in new england

you make a good point about inflation and the shrink ray; things cost the same but you are getting much less for your money
when i was a kid in college i wrote a paper about the big mac being a great measure of inflation, the same two patties and ingredients used to cost a dollar on special
now you are lucky to get two for $6
some things have outpaced inflation even worse like education and housing
the economy is heading into some rough times ahead
you make a great point about how the how the taco bell tacos arent great but they are almost never bad
even when i make them at home with quality ingredients, they only come out marginally better than the ones you get at the store
a real mexican taco is a thing of beauty and if you ever hit the west coast we will eat like kings, fat and greasy kings my man~
game is on and i cant wait for the weeeknd to get here!

I'm not a fan of other sports really and have seen too many games especially in basketball where you look at the outcome and say no way I want to risk anything on this. I'd bet on backgammon if anyone or their computer program would play me, and Canadian badminton if I knew how to make money there. They call the NFL the sharpest lines in sport and really I want no part of that, mostly I'm interested in college football ATS because I can't figure out OU either.

This year the strategy is risk avoidance and college (like Miami last week) so although I have Denver 8 points better than NY on a neutral field, no way I'm touching this with the QB situation. And Flacco comes in! So yeah I'm thinking 9 games out of 10 at least GB covers even though everyone expects ATL to come through because they never do so this must be their time. Like Detroit not Detroiting last week. No way they do that 2 weeks in a row, and I have money on that too since I'm hoping Drew has something to prove too.

Again the game goes on too long but not because of commercials. Worst coaching of the year if not history by both coaches simultaneously.

We In EU are much more about passion to sport than US.. And flaires are folklore, fighting is also folklore, and It can be pretty life threatening. If I can chip in anout mexican food in eu.. Tacos snd buritos are some popular, but not that much that you have fast food with only that.. Except MCdonald other companies are not present that much in EU. Why?

I dont know..

are there many popular chain resturants where you live?
i think there are a lot of cafes overseas and more local places to eat just not the food chains like we have here in the US
i havent spent much time in europe but ive been other parts of the world and they have great street food and small places to eat
what is a good place to eat in croatia? what are some of your favorite foods?
/no matter where you travel you can usually find a mcdonalds in the big city, mcdonalds and coca cola
growing up i was a san diego chargers fan and we had a great rivalry going with the raiders
they would even have commercials on tv for bail bonds (you pay money to get out of jail until your court date) when the raiders came to town

Heh, u should have laid some money on the broncos, Gojoe, they won by 9. Good prediction that they’d win by at least 8, although it took a late Melvin Gordon TD run to seal it.

Yeah, ive noticed before that sports fans in Europe are much more coordinated in their celebrations, whereas in the US you’d be hardpressed to get fans to do the wave. College and high school sports in the US have more communal spirit, but not on the scale in the EU. US fans will cheer and yell a lot though, give them that.
Soccer hooliganism is a problem but that’s a small minority of footie fans in Europe who engage in that. Mostly young drunk disaffected (low socioeconomic status) men who get involved in that. Same thing happens in the US, although they usually don’t fight over sports, but politics, ideology, etc. Which is why you see violence and burning during US protests over police brutality.

Yeah, the standard burger patty at McD’s is 1/10 of a pound, tiny. The quarter pounder patty is of course .25lb and that’s a decent size. Everytime I wax nostalgic about declining food value I feel like that old grandpa from when I was a kid who used to say “Back in my day, you could get a loaf of bread for 5 cents, a steak dinner for $1, blah blah blah.” And he had to walk 5 miles to school, uphill, both ways! Lol. Eh, what can you do, everything’s getting more expensive and the average wage isnt keeping up. Back in the post WW2 era up to the 70s, you could afford a mortgage on a single family home with your parents working lower end blue collar jobs (non union factory work, waitress, etc). Now those jobs will barely get you living paycheck to paycheck in a small rented home/apt, with maybe a crappy old car that keeps breaking down.

Ive barely followed college football so far this year but I did see some of the beatdown Miami put on the Seminoles. Geez how did Florida State get so bad? Im getting old because back when I followed college football more they were always good… They won by 42 but the line was 12pts? Nice bet!
It’s smart to have a sensible risk tolerance in gambling. Youre going to lose some bets but just like the casino, it’s all about winning more than you lose, even if the margins are small.

Disko, I think the lack of American fast food (other than McD’s) in the EU is pretty much all about money. The countries there have been around forever and the food market is very mature (I think street food and small vendors that specialize in one dish are big there, like Pop says) and the people know what they like and generally stick to it. Sure if a taco bell opened up there might be a bunch of people trying it at first but it’s the repeat customers that ensures long term profitability, and if people go once and then rarely or never go again that’s not good for business. McD’s is kind of universal, who doesn’t like a hamburger (beef patty between 2 slices of bread, sometimes with cheese), its origin is from the EU (hamburg Germany I guess?) so maybe theyre the exception. Plus maybe most EU customers, if they want American fast food, are just fine with going to McD’s, don’t feel the need to go for americanized tacos or pizza, etc.

the game last night was all right, but got a little chippy at the end
rypien did well but threw a ton of ints , darnold has some flashes but dident put up a win
i enjoyed watching the football but both team failed to impress
this weekends games will be much better im hoping
one thing i noticed was people overseas look down on mexican food kind of
like burgers and coke are all american things to eat and represent living the good life; burgers, coke, blue jeans and rock and roll
mexican food is kind of different and a lot of places kind of look down on it, especially asians
/even good mexican food is considered peasant in some places and you arent going to impress folks with tacos
dont get me started on the $1 burgers and 50c cokes i enjoyed as a kid
never mind you only make like a few dollars (minimum wage was like $4.25), your money seemed to go farther
i dont think people now days appreciate the value of a dollar and everyone feels they are entitled to the nicest things even if they cant afford it
so what are your plans for the weekend baba? besides sunday are you doing anything?
have a bunch of trimming to do but im taking it slow getting it done
rams play in the afternoon so i need to be on my A game to make it through the day without having to take a knee
