Legit Breeders - Pollen Chuckers and White labelers - Tell us YOUR Opinion!

I have some thoughts:
Way back when, we were all 'closet hacks/pollen chunkers'. ALWAY looking for 'testers'.

'Legit breeders' progeny test. Someone posted Sam's take. Note the numbers involved. AND ya have to test the male's off-spring for desirable traits that are passed to his female off-spring, a daunting task.

'Suzy creamcheese'(maybe creme) and I talked about this on another site...something about 'preservation', if anyone cares to look. Any thread suzy was in is worth reading.

I'm running some G13/HP from NDNGuy now. Probably do a preservation run out of love and respect for the guy.

S1's always have that hermi in them, by definition. Calio was the only 'true' female I've run across. Both Vic High and the 3C's failed to get her to reverse.

peace

A breeder status is something to be earned out of respect, consistency, knowledge, a proven and traceable career in the trade.
this :)

it's not a title someone can slap on himself, i'd never call myself that.
we all just make our own and (should) explore them. people making a
living with seeds sooner or later are deemed to become slaves of their
own needs/returns. that's why i always make sure to give away most of
what i do for free and to anyone. this is just my (favorite) hobby :smoker:

Breeder and seeds maker are 2 different jobs !

It doesn't mean you can't find something nice of bulk seeds. Some are old stable lines and the job has been done berfore.

But yes not many actually breed their lines like Ace Panama for exemple .
They are.

I could not do that.. without a goal in mind just making seeds..

Super important that the customer / buddy u gave the seeds have a good time i think this is so important.
In this timeline, where everyone wants to fuck you especially.

I fuck around with males, pollen and phenotypes a lot, in a very artisanal and handcrafted way, like most of you do as well… I’m far from a breeder (label) but I am using genotypes to create other sub genos/phenos. I consider that; the act of breeding.

To me a Breeder is a title of status, like a chef in a kitchen or a CEO in a company.
Anyone can eventually get that status once;

-one has mastered the skill in practice
-has a traceable trajectory within the trade (breeding)
-can demonstrate an absolute knowledge of the science of breeding

Are there many types of breeders? For sure.
So to measure all breeding/breeders with the same weight is not fair.

Commercial breeding has been the only way to be recognized as a breeder in the community hence ACE being a popular number one pick when we try to categorize breeding in today’s market.
A pollen chucker is doing the act of breeding.
A white labeler is a con Artist using breeding techniques to make a dollar…
(My opinion; no offence to white labellers)
Note: if the person respects the source of the genetics and publicly names that source; to me that’s no longer a white labeler but a repro maker, and that’s a healthy and thriving market.

First and foremost in my garden I don’t use breeding to achieve financial freedom, I use breeding to create plants that are on the other far end of the popular spectrum.
I use breeding to create, yet I’m no breeder because I don’t have a career in it, nor I make a living of it.
The act of breeding is for US ALL.

A breeder status is something to be earned out of respect, consistency, knowledge, a proven and traceable career in the trade.

A pollen chucker is a derogatory term that for me has just one down side; it implies that the person has no critical observation skills and just slaps A + B to get C. That process is still an act of breeding, even tho it’s fast food it is still a thing and people consume seeds from pollen chuckers.

I guess we all enjoy the power of creation and that’s why we are into the breeding, also we despise the new wave of comercial breeding and don’t fit in that category so we create our own label within the breeding scene.

Breeding is when u take ur time to create something with an goal in mind i think thats a good way to think about that.

It just takes years, we are all pollen chuckers if we just take a good female with a good male and cross them toghter and hope for something special that is not what a breeder does, san told and kinda teached me that.
SAN is really a good guy, he gives so much stuff away for free, and never heard anything bad about him nor his work.

I love it, i just love the plant so much.

It's like any jobs, sometimes you don't like your work but it feeds the family .

You win a cup with your super silver og kush then you have to make the same beans for the next 10 / 20 years because they only want that strain:)

I admire people who make the same seeds for such a long time, don't know if i could do it ....

I like the breeding scene that I see at the moment because the flower spectrum has changed. Passionate Creators are opening up to the idea that good weed doesn't have to look like kush flower or yield a LB, it can also be a string of calyxes or a fern looking plant.
Also a lot of interest in reproduction and preservation of old lines and heirloom varieties.
