Yeah, jags and cards scored upsets, bears had a big come from behind win.
I didn’t watch the whole Sunday night game but from what I saw early on malcolm brown was more effective than cam akers. Ur right, he’s way more experienced though, with 5 yrs in the league (came in same time as gurley), but I guess as the season goes on akers will take over the main role. Darrell Henderson was nursing a hammy so only got a couple carries, but I suspect as long as the RB committee works mcvay will keep rolling with it.
Goff didn’t have a big fantasy day, with 0 tds and 1 int, but ur right, he threw for almost 300 yds and looked poised in the pocket. The D did well in holding a high powered dallas O to 17pts, but scoring only 20 against a not great (probably) Dallas D is somewhat concerning. Without a devastating weapon like peak gurley they’ll have to find points somewhere, so goff is going to have to step it up.

Yeah, rivers got a lot of criticism for bringing his suckiness to the colts, although tyrod didn’t look too good himself either. Burrow is going to work through some rookie jitters but he could be a franchise QB sooner rather than later.

It’s week 1 though, with no preseason, so a lot of these early season results are going to change as the season progresses and the cream rises to the top.

Hey hawk long time no see, hope youre doing well. Did your kitchen get fixed up yet? Last update there was a big hole from a fire in it, hopefully that’s more or less patched up.
I was expecting Foles to start the 2nd half but when the lions top 3 cornerbacks got hurt trubisky started completing passes. I agree, he still mostly sucks but ill take this win, maybe there’s hope for him yet?
Brady has thrown pick 6’s in 3 straight games dating back to last season, so not a good run for him but there’s too much talent on the tampa offense for him to keep playing this poorly. We actually play the bucs in week 5 (Oct 8th) at home so that’ll be fun to see, unless they blow us out.

im glad to see that hawk is back with us man!
no shit about this being crazy times man! its like america has lost its mind
but like baba said, you got an extra helping of shit last we heard and i hope things are looking up for you

it felt like mcvay was kind of walking through most of the game and kind of feeling things out
the two stand out features were the defense and a good day by the o'line
the rams have one of the best defenses in the league when they are firing and the cowboys had their hands full
i tihnk the o'line is going to be the key to making this a good year for goff and i liked the time he had
he also seemed to be able to see what was going on around him a little better and i hope he takes the next step in his development
we get another chance to see burrows play tomorrow against the browns
this should be a good game with two teams that are trying to make a name for themselves
hope you are having a great week my man and are set for another weekend of nfl action

Thanks guys.yeah my house is fucked up but I guess it could be worse.i feel bad for the people out west.especially the ones without insurance like me.that shit is nuts.and nobody knows what to do about it? Did the fires affect anyone you know Pop? If you don't mind me asking

It was undoubtedly a good outing by the rams O, especially the O-line, like you said. And the cowboy’s D was more middle of the pack last year, and lost Byron jones in free agency and Leighton vander esch to a broken collarbone during the game, but they may be a pretty stout unit. Aldon smith, the DE from the niners who’s been out of football for years because of legal trouble, is on the ‘boys and had a pretty good stat line. So we’ll see if the rams can put up 25+pts a game again, having good pass pro and run blocking should go a long way to solving their offensive woes from last year. Next up are the eagles, who have a pretty decent DL and signed darius slay the CB from the lions, so that might be another good test for their O.
I agree with you, mcvay seemed more conservative with this playcalling, he’s showing maturity with his gameplanning. Why gun for more points when you can work the field position game and let your dominant D work? With Ramsey and Donald, he’s got two of the best at their position in the entire league.

Im not expecting a really good game between the bengals and browns tomorrow but we’ll see, maybe it’ll be entertaining. It’s a make or break year for Mayfield, I think if he balls out this season he’ll get a fat contract extension like mahomes/Watson, if not he’ll be like trubisky and having to play for his job (or back up job) next year. No pressure though right?

Ur right Hawk, no matter how bad you got it other people always have it worse. I know a buddy who lives out in Oregon, I don’t think he lives too near Portland so the fires aren’t a concern for him luckily but yeah, with those raging fires you can lose all your shit in like hours.
Speaking of worse off people, I’ve been working with this one dude to remodel a house he recently bought, damn this thing is a fixer upper in a nice neighborhood but it is in terrible condition. It’s basically a moldy horror show in there, like I don’t know who lived there but even a crack head or meth addict would probably nope the fuck out of this house if they had to live there, it’s that bad. We peeled all the basement paneling off the walls, stuff was just disintegrating from the mold. The woman just walks into the house for 10 minutes and says it causes her to go diarrhea the mold smell is so bad. I have a stronger stomach but even im like WTF, who could stand to live like this?!? So even if youre just keeping the weather off with plastic wrap I think youre in better shape than this freaking house, ugh, I have to take a shower every time I come back from this place. Anywho, I know 2020 has been mostly a shit year but fwiw I hope youre keeping on keeping on, and maybe the bears will give you some joy here and there. Maybe foles will take over and lead the bears to a super bowl run later this year, huh?

i dont mind you asking at all friend
luckily no one i know has really been effected too bad this time around
where we live all the underbrush burned up a few years back so there is not much risk of major fire, but we are taking the tie to clean up the yard a bit
/i trimmed up some trees at my moms place a few weeks ago
one guy i talked to the other night who lives down south said they shut his power off last week but the fires werent that close to his house
/his main complaint was the temps were in the triple digits and they shut off his power so he had no ac
you sounded pretty hand and i hope are you getting things back up a running

if its not too late i would say the bengals might be my dark horse team this year
i liked what i saw from joe burrows against the chargers defense and i think he has a lot of upside
im not a fan of mayfield and agree that this is his make or break year
the cowboys lost a solid mlb in vander esch, who might be out for the season
/have you heard anything?
but aldon smith totally balled UP bigly and i think this could be an impressive year for him if he can stay on track
/they told his story about how it was basically his grandma who told him he was given a gift and needs to become all he can; i hope he has a monster year this season
thanks crazy about the walls disintegrating from the funk man, there must be a leak of something in there for the walls to stay that wet
thats really cool of you to help your friend remodel baba
you are a man of many talents!

I figured most of the western wildfires were further north than the SD area, but Pop makes a good point, you really want to clean out all the burnable stuff to prevent those out of control fires. In fact, a major reason for these huge fires is that preventing earlier fires just means there’s more unchecked growth and dry brush for future fires. One of those unintended consequences type things…

Most people think the bengals will a bottom 5 team again this year after finishing last in the league last year, but they got some talent, joe mixon is a pretty darn good RB, AJ Green if healthy is a great WR, and Burrow is a rookie but is 24yo and so might be more polished than most rooks. We’ll see how they do against the browns tonite, the season is still shaking out and so much is still unknown, who are the really good teams and which are the really bad teams.

Leighton had a clean break of the collarbone and had surgery to insert a plate, same type of surgery Rodgers and Romo had in the past few years, with the metal plate things should heal quicker and chance of re-injury should be less so maybe he’ll be back in 6 weeks?

Aldon smith’s talent has never been in question, im surprised he’s still productive despite being out of football for a few years now. I hope he keeps his nose clean and is able to have a nice career in the league again, we’ll see though he seems like one of those guys who trouble just seems to follow around like a magnet.

Yeah, they had this cheap ass wood paneling in the basement that was just coming off in sheets because of the damp and mold, I think the person that used to live there just gave up because it was peeling off in strips. And there was a shit ton of raccoon shit in the attic too from a raccoon infestation that we had to shovel out, the whole house was just ugh from top to bottom. Not sure how anyone could live like this, like I said it was an upper class neighborhood but you get all types in every socio economic strata. But there’s a reason why this guy got it so cheap and this is why. So Hawk, even if you big ass hole in your roof, at least you don’t have a moldy ass house and a foot deep of raccoon crap in your attic, heh.

a.smith has certainly had a rough time but im hoping he has gotten on the right track in lfe
sometimes when people are all into drugs they make bad decisions and run with people they would normally not associate with
like you said, he has a ton of talent and just needs to keep his head on straight
the bengals have a few weapons on offense, joe mixon should have beena first round pick and they also have g.bernard behind him
i think if burrows can have a decent rookie year they should have a decent season, hopefully better than the browns
its going to be an interesting game tonight i hope
how can you have racoons infesting a home people live in?
i can see mice because they are so small but a racoon is about the size of a small dog? so they had wild racoons living in their house? i wonder if the racoons got into their stuff or did they just sleep there?

I think Aldon definitely had a drinking problem, but also some behavioral issues that may or may not be related to alcohol. Hopefully he's gotten a lot of counseling and got rid of the toxic people in his life and can just focus on work; if he continues to ball out he's young enough to get a big contract and secure his financial future.

Mixon was definitely a high fantasy draft pick since he's one of the few bell cow backs in the league, even on a crap offense last year he had some good games. We'll see how both teams look tonite, both of them are pretty crappy so they shouldnt look too bad against each other. Browns had to play the ravens who were 14-2 last season, they got steamrolled but that may be because the ravens are so good.

Like i said, this lady inherited the house from her parents and i think she was depressed or something, it's a mystery how anyone could let their place go to shit like that. The neighbor said they'd see her set out raccoon traps in the attic lol. Fwiw, i think the 'coons were mostly confined to the attic, i dont think they were running around her living room snatching food off her plate, lol. But yeah, shit was wild, im thinking even a crack or methhead would walk in and be like, WTH is wrong with you lady?!? Shit was that bad.

money dosent make you any less human and we all have problems in life from time to time
i can sympathize in some ways, my mom has a touch of the hoarder in her too
now that i think about it, i can see how something could live in the attic and not be noticed i guess
we dont have an attic here, but we have a crawl space between our ceiling and the roof and i have no idea what is up in there
/i once saw a thing from japan about a person living in someones house without them knowing
it seemed like smoths problems went way deeper than substance abuse and i hope he is getting the help he needs
listening to his grand ma and getting his life back on track is a good step in the right direction and im rooting for him
i think there was so much hype heaped on the browns last season that they kind of imploded, plus i dont tihnk baker is that good
im pulling for the bengals and think they might be a team heading in the right direction, but i would like to see more burrows
im excited for tonight and cant wait for the game to begin
it great to have football back!

Yeah, that’s one of the issues, I don’t think she had much money at the end. Her parents might have been well off but maybe she didn’t really have a good paying job or was even employed and just let the place decay the last decade plus. And hoarding is one thing, but this person let a horror show of mold grow in her basement over the years. Would your mom walk into her basement and see 3 inches of water on the floor and think ‘this is fine’?
And man, the attic, soon as you opened the door youre hit with this overwhelming smell of raccoon piss and shit. Like, I don’t think this lady was unaware of what was going on. The whole house smelled. Id really like to see what this lady looked like, I think this house was like the ‘haunted house’ on the block, all the neighborhood kids must have been scared of it. Im sorry, im just salty because we have to deal with years of her neglect, if she had just spent 15mins a day cleaning up over the years our job would be a lot easier, lol.

Baker started off hot vs the bengals and then let his running game take over, cincy has one of the worst run D’s in the league so both chubb and hunt ate last night. Burrow had 60 pass attempts in trying to come back, for a rook he looked good but his O-line isn’t good and his defense sucks. But I think ur right, burrow looks like a future star once his surrounding talent gets better, I still think tua is going to be the best QB from that draft class eventually though but I could be wrong…

i thought burrow played well given the circumstances around him
he made some nice reads and played hard four quarters, even when it looked like his team was out of the game
k.hunt looked great and should still be one of the best backs in the league, cleveland has a nice one two with chubb and hunt at rb
i havent seen tua play in the nfl yet so its hard to say how he is going to look at the next level, but if the bengals start building around burrow they might be able to turn their franchise around
sometimes my mom does funny things and it leads to more problems down the line
she was having trouble with the float in the toilet tank, it would not stop the water (probably from a leaky flapper)so she would turn the toilet off using the valve on the wall
eventually it got worn out and i had to tell her to turn off the water to the house until i could come over and replace both pieces
i am lick that i can help her out when she needs help, maybe this lady dident have anyone there to turn to?
its sad that she lived like that for the last years of her life and i hope you and your friend can get the place back into good shape
got any plans for the weekend? im craving mexican food and i think im going to make some enchilladas this weekend!

Burrow did great, throwing 60+ times, 3td’s and 0 ints. He got hit more in 2 nfl games than he did his entire last season at LSU. The bengals defense was pretty good as recently as 2 years ago, so if they draft some young talent they could be stout again.
I think Tua has a stronger and more accurate arm than burrow, he’s supposedly fully healthy now and if fitzmagic doesn’t show up much this year he’ll get some playing time.

Chubb and hunt played great but that was against a bottom 5 D; they have 3 more games against the steelers and ravens so that’ll be much more of a challenge. But ur right, the browns play best when the RBs are eating and baker can do some rollouts and play action.

Yeah, I think the older you get, the more ‘fuck it’ of an attitude you have. Like, shit, im old, I could die any moment, what do I care about a toilet running or something? Lol. But seriously, isn’t water pretty expensive in socal? I could see a running toilet costing a lot of money over time…

Funny thing is this lady is still alive, I think she’s in Colorado or florida or something, retired. Maybe she’s keeping a family of raccoons as pets there too  Theyre actually pretty smart critters too. When I was a kid I read this book called “Rascal” or something, about a guy who had a pet raccoon when he was a kid. When the coon got old enough he let him go to live in the woods and find a mate but they had fun growing up. Still, I wasn’t too fond of cleaning up decades worth of coon shit in this attic, the smell was terrible even through a mask and when I was done I’d have this brown dust all over my forearms. Gross!

Enchiladas sound great, do you make the red sauce too? I don’t have any specific plans this weekend, maybe just watch as much sports as possible and stuff my fat face and drink myself to oblivion. Yknow, a typical weekend for me

save me a seat on the couch, that sounds like my kind of fun
i get the el pato brand enchillada sauce in cans and this time we got the red sauce
im kind of bounce back and forth between red and green sauce, but right now im in the mood for red sauce
i once made my own sauce using this chili paste stuff but it wasnt that wow
i guess we could find a good recipe if we were going to go all out, but i think good tortillas plus fresh ingredients (cheese in this case) and you are set
yeah the water bill can run you a few bucks especially if you water your yard (most of the water is used on landscaping)
but you are totally right about if someone is happy to live like that and not hurting them self (questionable if you are breathing racoon poo dust 24/7) but you just kind of leave them alone
we had a racoon problem a while back and i wasnt a fan of the trash panda but i can see how they are pretty smart and you could get a wild racoon used to being around people
i think chubb/hunt is a top rb combo against almost any team
both players are solid running backs; imagine if hunt was still a chief?!?
but this season is going to be on bakers shoulders
they have a decent defense; m. garret and d.ward are solid at their positions and greedy williams has potential
we will see if we get a change to see tua play, fitz got off to a rough start but its the first game
we will see if old man rivers can get it together in indy and i can wait to see week 2 of the rams!

Heh, u got it, just bring the edibles.
I figured enchilada sauce is easier to buy than make, I was looking at making some al pastor marinade but didn’t have any of the peppers, guajillo peppers? I know they come dried so if you have a bag it’s probably not a big deal to rehydrate them and blend them with the other ingredients but at the time I said eff it.
You ever mess with masa, mix it up with some water and maybe lard and press them into fresh tortillas? I bought a tortilla press one time thinking of doing that but of course did, don’t even knew where that press is now lol.

That brown dust only came from shoveling the stuff up off the floor, but yeah, the smell was incredible and im not sure how this lady could stand it. Im thinking maybe she hadn’t lived there for about 6 months before selling the place, but all the crappiness of that place didn’t just happen in 6 months imo. And ur right, I don’t think she had any family, husband or kids, to help her out, so maybe she just did the best she could at the time…
Yeah, trash pandas are like pigeons or homeless people, once they find a food source they wont leave so best to keep them from setting up a permanent home. We’ve had our garbage picked through and strewn about unless we’re careful so that’s not fun, picking up all the garbage they leave scattered about. Could have been a possum too, not sure…

I think Hunt was pretty pissed at himself for missing out on the chiefs championship run last year, if he hadn’t got kicked off the team for kicking that girl he definitely still would have been the starter and maybe gotten a fat contract too. But I think he got 8M/yr from the browns and is doing well, he’s from ohio too so he’s doing alright, not as well as he should have been but not bad either.

Rivers wasn’t much of an upgrade on brisset in week 1 but there’s still 15 weeks for him to turn it around. If the D can step up and he can play with a lead it should be better for him, he gets in trouble when he’s pressing and trying to make tight window throws when he’s behind.
Bears play the giants, not sure how that’s going to go, im thinking Chicago will be lucky to go 8-8 again this season but who knows?
Rams play a pretty tough D in the eagles, Malcolm brown had 2 td’s in the first game last season too but now there’s no gurley. Everyone expects akers to take over the bellcow role soon but brown is very steady and maybe that’s what that offense needs.

Browns got some elite talent on D but they’ve given up 30+ pts each of the last 2 games so theyre not quite putting it together yet. I agree, if baker balls out and leads his team to some good wins he’s going to score a big contract extension, if not he’s going to be like trubisky and be playing for his job next season. Josh Allen and lamar Jackson are from his draft class and are going to get big extensions after the season, baker and darnold are still to be determined…

what a great weekend of games and im excited to see the new raiders stadium later today
m.thomas is out for the game but i think the saints still have plenty of fire power and should get the win tonight
a lot of top talent went down yesterday and we will see how serious some of these injuries are
s.barkley might be out for the year, n. bosa might be out for the year, tyrod taylor dident start for the chargers and the rookie qb stepped in biggly against the chiefs, rams rookie rb cam akers went down early in sundays game and i still havent heard what his prognosis is yet
/i left out a bunch of other injuries, guys like run cmc etc.
rams looked great with a solid effort by the defense and a good showing on offense, looks like they are firing on all cylinders
so far they have beaten the cowboys and eagles, two tough teams; but we will see what kind of season they have (especially when they play hot teams)
(c.boys: 1-1, eagles 0-2)
the dried chilis are bomb and easy to use
like you said, just rehydrate them and then grind them into a paste
we used to get big balls of masa at a mexican market close by
its good for making tortillas if you want to go the extra mile of pressing out your own, we never had one of those cool presses but i would just use two dinner plates
mash it out and take it straight to the pan for some fresh hot goodness
we also make tamales once, it was a lot of work but they came out super good
just smear the masa into a corn husk and then fill with your favorite stuffing, kind of like a mexican hot pocket
you bet i will bring the eatables no problem man
hope you had a great weekend and are all set for an awesome week

Does anyone in or watching the game like the fake crowd noise? Vegas just scored and there was silence because there isn't fake crowd noise on the national radio broadcast like on TV. It was great and so were the college games that went without.

im with you joe
i for one really like the games with out the crowd noise and think it puts you more into the game
you hear almost every audible and all the chatter before the snap
plus the sounds of the game, much better without crowd noise
/clack! some of those hits sounds like gun shots
i might have to tune in to the radio broadcast sometime
