Yeah, rumor is that the packers are interesting in signing him. Their LB, blake Martinez, is a tackling machine but got exposed by the 49ers run game, much like the terrible bears defenses of 3-5yrs ago the point is to make the tackle BEFORE they gain 8-10yds. Schobert is a better athlete than Martinez so may be able to plug those holes quicker.

Kitchens was clearly not ready for the head job, he was a position coach the year before and then was promoted to coordinator halfway through the season. At least stefanski brings a little more high level experience than kitchens, even though he’s younger. It would also help stability if the owner didn’t change coaches and gm’s every year or two, but what ya gonna do?

Im fascinated about this Mexican joint serves coleslaw, is it like an ethnic, chili lime slaw? Or just straight up, southern style sweet cole slaw? Regardless, it’s those dive joints that often serve the best food. That burrito place I went to used to be that way, just a deli counter in the back of a carniceria that would serve killer food, but they fancied it up when they got popular, remodeled it to look like a chipotle, raised prices, etc.

Yep I am content with the Stefanski hire.. Although it wasn't my first choice... It seems like the most logical at this point.. McDaniels wanted to run the show.... Haslam still wants to do his stupid meddling, so that wouldn't ever work out between them... I honestly think this will be another 1- maybe 2 year regime.... Until puppet master Jimmy minimizes his role on the team, it will never go the way it needs to go...

The coleslaw is definitely their own recipe but its pretty close to traditional... The dressing is not as sweet and maybe a little thicker... Its been awhile since I went there, now I have to go back.. I will take pics so you can see the consistency

Yeah, u cant do much about meddling owners, just have to hope they eventually realize theyre doing more harm than good. I heard haslam's thing is that he'll listen to a bunch of people's advice, but it's the last person he talks to that tends to influence his decisions the most. So u just have to hope that whoever he speaks to last has really smart things to say. :)

It'll be interesting to see what stefanski does with mayfield, maybe he'll have him under center more, work more out of play action. With Chubb and Hunt, they've got two of the best RBs in the league. Having a healthy OBJ will help too, I drafted that dude in one of my fantasy leagues, he was barely a top 30 receiver all year cause he was dealing with a sports hernia or core muscle thing all season.

I was interested in the browns last year too, but then they got blown out by the titans week 1, they beat the ravens the next week but after that it was up and down all season, mostly down when baker was throwing picks left and right. I still think he's got plenty of arm talent but u can see the downsides of his game when things arent running smoothly.

Im down for food pics always! Seems like im the only one posting pics on here although i guess this site doesnt make it easy...

if you dont want to go back mrB give me the location and i will do the dirty work for you
its weird how much mexican cooking changes when you go to different areas
i grew up in san deigo and we have the best norteno mexican food but im also a fan of the tex mex style
the mrs step mom is from oaxaca mexico and she can cook like its nobodies business
the region is know for its moles and she lays out a bunch of different flavors in her meals
/one of the best is this chocolate/coco based one; its great on chicken

so it looks like the draft might get interesting with rumors that the skins' might be in the market for a new qb
there are several teams in the market for their next qb and i think the skins are just trying to push up the value of their pick
/most likely they stay with haskins but who knows
when you look at the wealth of rookie qbs coming out in this years draft, coupled with the free agents coming online this years offseaons is going to be rich at the qb position
ill post up a food pic so baba' dosent have to shoulder the whole load by himself
me and the mrs got this great candy recipe from a friend here online (thanks fiddynut!)
it took a few batches to get it down but we are making these awesome medicated caramels

its the offseason so we have time to mess around and work on our recipe but i think they are pretty good

Hey Pop, read in Fiddy’s thread that your camping trip went well, nice weather at the beginning, got colder temps and rain/hail at the end but overall a success. Nice!

Yeah, ive heard there’s a lot of regional Mexican cuisines, much like America when you get into it, there’s some commonalities but also plenty of regional variation. Funny u mention the inlaw, on youtube there’s some videos of abuelas (grandmas) cooking traditional cuisine over wood-fired stoves, in earthenware pots, the food they make looks fire. Also, the copious amounts of lard they use help. And moles are always an interesting sauce, ive seen on cooking shows where they make moles out of 20 ingredients, seems like u can just throw anything in there it all just adds to the complexity.

Skins are going to work out both Tua and Herbert before the draft, so u might be onto something, Pop. Kind of sucks to be Dwayne haskins, he might be looking at being a backup for the rest of his career, but he was pretty rough as a rookie, like worse than trubisky most of the time.

Caramels are looking sweet (pun intended)! Just sugar, brown sugar and milk/cream? I think I saw fiddy’s recipe months ago, but caramel is pretty basic. Im sure theyre easy to eat, more so than hard candy. And the bowl in the back is a nice touch too.

yeah brother, the camping was awesome!
when we got there the weather was in the mid to high 70'
we had clear skies and nice weather friday and saturday
by the time we left on sunday the high was in the low to mid 50 and the overnight low on sat was in the 30s
i brought my wet weather gear but dident end up using it
i was doing just fine in my thermals, trail pants and hoody
/of course i also had on gloves and a hat
we were planning another trip as soon as we left and have a short list of spots we want to check out
yeah the caramels are really simple
f'nuts recipe called for sweetened condensed milk instead of cream but its really basic
/brown sugar, condensed milk, vanilla and some butter
we have made it harder and softer and we are goign with the harder style caramels
you just cook them a little longer but they hold their shape better and dont soften up when the get warm
i read something about how haskins made some salty tweets when he found out the skins were interviewing qbs at the combine
i dont blame him and think the skins would be better off building up their team in other areas
/so now its time for the giants to start "meeting" with qbs too so it really creates urgency for the teams hoping to pick up a new qb in the top of the draft
/plus lets not sleep on love and that kid out of oaklahoma j.hurts who might be some good value picks

Sounds like u timed it just right, left right when the weather turned. Did u enjoy any psychedelics? Ive tried most of ‘em, shrooms (have a shroom grow in my sig, although I think icmag deleted it years ago), ‘cid, x, dmt. Not really my cup o tea, but then maybe I should have been in nature during the experience, instead of at home watching tv, lol.

Haskins has a new coach and gm, guys who didn’t select him in the draft and have no particular loyalty to him if he doesnt play well. Im sure no player wants to think their career might be derailed before it even really starts, but all he can do is just work hard and make himself better. If he plays well enough he’ll have a place in the league, somewhere.

Giants have publicly stated theyre open to trading down but if they stay at #4 and chase young doesn’t fall to them they’ll probably draft that big OL from iowa, Tristan wirfs. He set some athletic records for his position at the combine so he projects as a 10yr starter at left tackle for them. And Daniel jones showed some promise as a rookie, he had way too many fumbles but had a couple 4-5 td games (inc rush tds) which I think set a record for a rookie qb?

Jalen hurts tested very well athletically at the combine, as expected, but also showed some good passing skills during drills and may be a 2nd rd pick. If he’s available any later than that maybe the bears should draft him, let him develop his game as a rookie on the bench then see what he can do in yr 2?

we did take a mystical journey friday and sat night!
it was rad! the night sky and fire were amazeballs and me and the mrs also went on a nature walk in the dark
we have had some really fun times and i enjoy when i can
we might have our next spot planned out but im going to keep it under my hat until we firm things up
this could be a very interesting spot and i hope we cn reserve a spot
/plus i still have some mind candy saved for the trip

im hearing hurt could be a second or even third day pickup, but i tihnk he has a lot of upside and could see him going in the first round
i think the redskins would be better off drafting to build other positions and giving haskins another year to prove himself
but if the skins do go qb@ the #2 spot it really builds value for the lions and giants (picks #3&4) depending on who you have your eye on
plus there could be a couple veterans to sign in free agency if you dont draft the qb you want
its going to be a fun offseason this year and i cant wait for the draft
hope you are having a great week baba and are getting ready for a great weekend (shortened by 1h)

Ah crap, DST already? Alright, i guess it is spring, the days are getting longer, now we'll have even more daylight in the evening. Which isnt bad i suppose, i sometimes get tired of it getting dark before 5pm.

What kind of food do u pack for ur trips? Sandwiches and stuff you can put in a cooler with ice for the first day, canned and dried stuff the next couple of days? What about washroom facilities, is there an outhouse or just dig a hole behind a tree?

Haskins problem is that case keenum was, for the most part, the better QB for the 'skins last year, but he kept getting hurt so they gave the rookie a chance. Keenum is an elite backup/semi-reliable starter: on a good team/lots of talent he's a winner, like when he took the vikings to the nfc championship 3 years ago. I actually wouldnt mind seeing him on the bears, if they cant get someone like dalton or cam or even brady. But there it is: haskins often sucked last year, there's a 50/50 chance he never progresses beyond average play, and if tua becomes a star the 'skins might kick themselves a few years later saying we could have drafted him. Kind of like the bears with trubisky and mahomes/watson.

Free agency starts in 2 weeks so we'll see what happens with all the veteran qb's on the market. I think if the patriots re-sign brady they would prefer to do it before the start of FA, because it would lessen their cap hit (they'd have 13M less to spend if they sign him after March 18) and they'd have more money to spend on other FA's; theyre supposedly interested in austin hooper, still trying to find that gronk replacement...

im not a fan of dst and think its lame to mess with the clocks twice a year
its going to be light when you get off work but now i will be getting up at 4a instead of 5a
/it will be tough for the first week
we are pretty loosey goosey when it comes to the food when we camp
we usually pack things like pbj's and stuff like that
the mrs loves to make hot dogs and beans over the camp fire and last time i made a cottage pie to bring that we just had to heat up and then instant mashed potatoes
/we brought some friends along so we ate kind of fancy
we also have a little gas top we use to heat up water now and are talking about all the things we can pre make and then just heat up in boiling water
the site we went to did have indoor bathrooms at the site, they were actually very clean and some of the nicest bathrooms ive seen at any site or park
but ive also crapped in a hole before and have no problem with that too
/me and the mrs are working towards bringing less and less when we camp and makin do with the bare necessities
we will see what happens with t.brady
hes the real wild card this offseason and a lot could hinge on where he ends up playing
i even hear the people who make the schedules for the nfl are having problems because of the uncertainty
if he stays in ne, you can be sure they get at least 3-4 prime time televised games; but what about if he went else where?
whatever team picks him up will almost certainly get an extra game or two on national tv
im pretty sutre the rams will get a prims slot opening weekend because of the new stadium and the chargers will prob get a home game the next week (on national tv)
things are getting interesting for sure

hope you are having a great week baba
any plans for the weekend?

Heh, I thought my dad got up early at 430am. 4am is like 2 hrs before dawn, does it take u long to get ready? My pops would always have a leisurely morning, even on workdays, he’d make a hot breakfast, coffee, go the gym and shower up, come back and change and then head to work before 8. Im kind of like that too, ‘cept the gym part.

PB, jam, bread, hot dogs and canned beans? Yeah, classic short camping trip food, good in a cooler for a day or two and familiar and tasty enough. U might look into some of Mountain House’s freeze dried food they sell at Costco, supposedly campers really like them and being freeze dried and vacuum packed in foil lined bags they literally have a shelf life of decades. Just throw a little hot water in there with ur teapot and 5 mins later youll have some nice biscuits and gravy or beef stew, etc.
It’s funny u mention camping, I bought some US military style MRE’s a while ago because they looked so good on you tube videos (damn u steve mre!) but when you actually eat them it’s basically school cafeteria or chef Boyardee quality, which isn’t bad but I’d prefer even mcdonalds to that. But I found myself sitting in the car waiting for the woman visiting relatives in the hospital (don’t like hospitals, never did) for hours on end so ive actually eaten a couple of them in the car, sharing the food with the dogs, heh. So maybe I can consider that camping in the car?

Yeah, the lack of bathroom facilities is why I could never go camping with the woman, she won’t do outhouses (not that I blame her, walking into one and seeing the pile of shite and piss staring up at you through a hole is dispiriting, and the smell!) and cant imagine she’d consent to digging and squatting over a hole in the ground. We’d have to go in an RV with a toilet if she wanted to go camping.

I never thought about how brady’s free agency might affect the league schedule. I know espn, if they want to re-up MNF, they want to be able to flex better games into Monday nights. I understand why because they’ve had a lot of stinkers the last few years on MNF but how do you tell a bunch of ticket holders who planned on going to a game on Sunday that the game is not a day later? You’d have to tell them a few weeks before, not just one week notice…

It’ll be interesting to see super expensive new stadium of the rams and chargers, but in the end it’ll be just like any other modern stadium: more private boxes on the upper tiers, more big HD scoreboards, that’s about it.

Not sure what im doing this weekend Pop, maybe nothing, but those are the best weekends, amirite?

i hear you about the best weekends being the ones where you have nothing to do (but all weekend to do it!)
i keep my morning routine pretty tight and go from shower to car pretty quickly
i do spend a few minutes after i get out of the bathroom laying on the bed and just planning otu my day each morning but then its justs gettin dressed and grabbing my food for the day
i could show up to work later but i like going in early and leaving as soon as i can
ive enjoyed my share of mres and camp food
the dehydrated ones you get at costco are pretty good but a little spendy
i make my own meals and like trying to think of new ideas
things like dried rice/noodles/vegetables and instant mashed potatoes are a good place to start
they also make that tuna in a pouch and thats easy to bring; the bags are really light and pretty durable plus you can make a couple different meals jsut changing up a few ingredients
i hear you about not wanting to step foot into some of the pit toilets ive seen at parks or other public places

i had a nice chill weekend for the most part and am looking forward to the camping trip coming up
oh, the mrs passed her test this weekend and i am so happy for her!
i was a little nervous on sunday morning before she took the exam but she did it! and we ended up having a great day
now she moves on to more schooling but she said she would take a break this next week and just chill
/plsu she wants to read some books other than her course material

so what did you end up doing this weekend brother
hope you had fun and are enjoying your extra hour of daylight

I used to work with this dude who used to be in the navy, at the time we lived near each other so we'd give each other rides to work, he said he could do a 5 minute shower, shave and shit from his time in the military. That seemed kind of unrealistic to me, but maybe they literally do a 1 minute shower? Knew a guy who did 2 years in the marines, he said showers you'd have enough time to wash ur head and ur crotch and armpits and thats it.

That whole laying in bed planning out your day thing sounds useful, it's always good to visualize your actions beforehand, i think a lot of athletes do that before games.

So ur hours can be pretty flexible so long as you get your work done? Some people are just morning people, i knew another guy (same job, different person) who said he'd work from 6am to 2pm if he could instead of 9-5. Im not a morning person but plenty of people are.

Yeah, now that i think about it a lot of instant type foods you can buy at the grocery are dehydrated/freeze dried, instant rice, mashed potatoes, instant noodles, etc, so they would keep just fine on camping trips, even in hot weather. And of course any canned food would be good, and like u said, tuna and chicken comes in those foil lined pouches so they keep just fine as well. The dehydrated mountain house stuff would be better if you were going on a weeklong hike in the wild, because it tends to be very light so a week's worth of food would be less than 30lbs, but for weekend trips with ur vehicle nearby you dont need that.

Congrats on the mrs passing her exam! What, there's even more schooling after?!? Geez, will it ever end? Well, at least she can take a little break, enjoy some edibles, read some novels or whatever.

I can safely say i did nothing this past weekend, heh, other than watch tv, surf the web, hang out with family, stuff my face with food. U know, typical fat stupid lazy american stuff. USA, USA, USA!!!

Did you hear the Rams have a new logo? It's a stylized LA in white letters, on a royal blue background with a big gold yellow ram horn forming part of the A. A lot of people are criticizing it.

The cowboys have supposedly sent Dak a new contract offer. Rumor has it their last offer was for 33M/yr and 100M guaranteed (or 3 yrs guaranteed), which puts him just below Wilson (35yr), Big ben (34yr) and Rodgers and Goff (33.5yr). So maybe the new offer is just a little more, making him equal to rodgers and goff. He had a better year than both of those guys in 2019, so maybe it's fair he gets paid at least as much as they do. But im with u, i think it's a little bit crazy for him to turn down so much money, but i guess when youre betting on yourself it's go big or go home?

i saw the new rams logo and wasnt too impressed
the rams horn is more a generic oval'ish thing the looks stylish but generic
/needs way more cowbell
i agree that dak might be reaching a bit if he dosent sign for what has been offered so far
/fwiw, i think hes kind of middle of the road
plus if he tries to play hard ball, there are a lot of qbs on the market and the c'boys could still try and trade up to get one of the hot young gunslingers in this years draft
/i think you can still land a good player later in the draft
// not going to happen
i hear you about how the schoolin never ends, but she is pretty committed to getting this certification
but im just along for the ride and she the one doing all the work
everything starts the moment you wake up and its nice to lay down and start the day on a good note
its fun to lay there and just sort of ease your way into the day
slow and low brother

It seems like the rams mgmt were trying to incorporate the "LA" into their logo, instead of just the rams head with the sweeping horns. I liked the classic logo, but I guess they really want to emphasize the 'LA' part of the LA Rams. Plus maybe getting fans to buy merch with the new logo is always an underhanded, money-grubbing incentive.

More cowbell indeed. Classic will ferrell/chris walken. I think ferrell is a comedy genius but like most of my favorite actors, it seems like most of their best movies come early in their careers, and after 10yrs or so it's mostly dreck.

I think the 'boys should slap the non-exclusive franchise tag on Dak if he doesnt sign the latest offer. It's 'only' 27M for next year, plus any team that beats that offer to sign Dak would also have to give dallas 2 first rd draft picks. You'd need to be a top 3 QB in his prime to be worth that sort of investment from a team. Dak did have a great year but who knows if that's his career best, it might be all downhill for him after this.

Hey, ur never too old to keep learning, and if it means more money/prestige/promotions for her, then it's all for the better, amirite?

I might have to try that whole visualization/planning thing, usually im just making/drinking coffee to start my day, and reading up on the news on my phone or tablet, but it might be more useful to do what ur doing. How indepth do you go, r u thinking 'well if this happens, then this is what i'll do, but if this other thing happens, i'll do this instead"?

Next Monday is when the legal tampering period starts for NFL free agency, this is when teams and agents and players can officially start negotiating, maybe we'll see a flurry of rumors and signings starting then...

im looking forward to the start of free agency
hopefully a lot of rumors will be squashed and im expecting a few big name moves
thats a good point that the cowboys can always tag dak and hold him for another year before signing him to a big contract
while he could hold out and not attend the otas and training camp i think he knows the system pretty well and it wont hurt the team that much
the new rams logo just dosent say rams to me
i hear you about how they are angling for the LA look but nothing about the new design says rams or football to me
as far as goign out and buying new gear, i like to pick up one or two new pieces each season
if they go with the new logo this year, i would prob just stick with throw back stuff
you should changing up your morning routine for a week and see how it goes
some days i get pretty specific with my planning
i might go over the day and even lay out a game plan for certain things; other days im just relaxing and just letting the thoughts flow on their own
some days i just think about lunch or football or things i am interested in
it all depends on whats on my plate for that day
hope you are having a great week and one step closer to a great weekend!

You pointed out last year that the rams had this new blue-white color scheme, and I liked it well enough, had a simple classiness to it that was a nice countermove to the increasing flashiness of football uniforms, especially with college football teams. But this new LA centered rams logo is a bit too over the head with the LA message; it’s like, all right, we get it, you’re in LA now, not st louis.

I think most experts agree with u Pop that Dak’s not truly an elite QB. His greatest qualities seem to be toughness/health, leadership, mobility, but the actual arm talent/passing ability is still average at best. Would you rather have him or garappolo as your team’s QB?

Yeah, I could see that if you have a big project/job coming up at work, that you spend a little more time thinking about that specifically, whereas more generic days don’t require specific ‘game-planning’. Im just a disorganized dude in general, so anything that will whip my arse into line can help me be better at my job/life.

Let’s play a game, and theorize what’s going to go down in free agency:

I say Phillip River signs for 2 yrs, 48M dollars (28 guaranteed) with the Colts.

Brady signs for 2 yrs, 72M (40 guaranteed) with the Patriots.

The Redskins will shop the #2 overall pick to some team hoping to take Tua, but their asking price is too rich (they want the equivalent of 3 first rd picks, but teams don’t want to pay that much just to move up 5-10 spots in the draft). So they sit on #2 and select Tua and trade haskins for a 2nd rd pick to Tampa, but joke’s on them, Tua has moments of brilliant play but also keeps getting injured again, and after a series of lower leg injuries retires after 5 yrs and only 30 some starts.

That last one is scarily specific, but I figure go big or go home, huh?

The Bengal's black and orange, tiger striped helmets is a good look for them, Jelly. It's hard to make orange look good but black is always a classic color.

i agree that the bengals uniforms look pretty bad ass
i dig the tiger strips and dont mind the color scheme
/i wear orange shirts all the time at home and to work
if i had to choose between dak or jimmyG i would go with garappolo all the way
i think he is a better passer and has proven himself a winner when he can stay healthy
of course he makes his share of bad throws but i tihnk overall he has way more upside
yeee haawwwww baba'
im digging on these spicy hot taeks of yours!
you know i will play along
/takes a big hit off crazy joint and washes it down with a glass of cuckoo juice
i think you might be right and rivers signs with the colts
but they end up sticking with brisette who goes on to have the best year of his career and rivers rides the bench his whole time in indy
at some point he starts bringing his kids along to home games to save money on child care
the skins draft c.young and detroit ends up trading down to miami (who drafts tua)
/but i tihnk you are spot on abuot how he only has mediocre results and ends up injured more often than not
tannahill ends up re signing in tennessee for big money and chargers sign jamis winston for a bucket of fresh crabs
/were going biggly for sure

hope you have a great friday my man

Even other teams that use a tiger as their mascot don’t often have tiger stripes in their color scheme, so it’s a pretty unique look that cincy has. And the bears colors are orange and blue, which is honestly a pretty hard color scheme to make look good, so I think a few years ago the bears went with a different shade of orange, more reddish than before. That with a darker blue makes for a better looking jersey imo.

If garappolo had completed that one long pass at the end of the superbowl, when Emmanuel sanders had a step on the KC defense, that would have put the niners up again. They ended up losing by 11 so an extra 7pts might not have mattered, but who knows, with more momentum back on their side maybe the D could have held mahomes in check the rest of the way.

Alright, so u think rivers signs with colts but brisket is still the better starter? Alright, I can easily see that happening. And that part about child care being so expensive for him is so spot on, lol. What does he have, like 9 or 10 kids? One or two more and he can field a co-ed football team, heh.

Ur guess that the skins will draft young and Detroit trades down so someone can pick Tua at #3 is probably the most likely outcome, if I had to bet money on what happens with the #2 and 3 picks. I hope im wrong and tua has a good long career but dude has suffered serious injuries every season he’s started in college, he needs to start doing some TB12 exercises and working on flexibility, so when he gets twisted up or rolled over when he's being tackled his joints can take the stress and flex without being damaged.

Tennessee may go after Brady; their head coach, mike Vrabel, used to play with brady back in the 00’s, won some titles together. But yeah, if brady doesn’t sign with them, theyre going to keep tannehill and make him a rich man, they went to the AFC championship game with him at QB, they need to run that again and hope it turns out better than jaguars 2018.

Famous Jameis is interesting, even bruce arians couldn’t cut down on his turnovers. I think ur right, he’ll go somewhere as a backup only.
