The DC guardians might have the XFL mvp on their roster, QB Cardale Jones. I remember Cardale’s run through the college football playoff (think he beat alabama and Oregon?), he never really lived up to his promise in the nfl, being a backup for the bills and chargers, but he seems to be doing well as a starter in the xfl. The lions have the #3 overall pick, so theyre in prime position to trade down with someone who wants tua tagavailoa. Or if they stay at #3 they can pick that cornerback from ohio state, jeff okudah. I’ve heard the Stafford trade rumors as well, and I suppose they could get rid of Stafford and start over with Tua themselves if they think his health isn’t a concern – tua got hurt the past 2 years in college, and the hits wont be any easier in the nfl. Yeah, we’ll see what happens with Cincy and Burrow; years ago carson palmer was a #1 overall draft pick QB who, after 7 yrs in the queen city, said he would rather retire than continue to play for the bengals. So he got traded to Oakland, and then Arizona, and had some decent years then. Is it because he thinks the bengals are too cheap to get or keep good players? Every team in the league has to follow the 89% rule, meaning they have to spend at least 89% of the cap averaged over 4 years, and it’s a hard cap league so no one can go over. Even if the bengals are at the 89% limit, other teams can only spend like 10% more at most, so im not sure that’s a huge difference. Then again, it's enough to sign one elite player, a WR or DB etc, 15-20M/yr...
Im guessing any team that signs rivers is going to bring him in for a comprehensive workout, make sure he can still make all the throws they need him to make, passes a physical, etc. So if the colts bring him in and he looks good slinging the ball, arm strength looks fine, I could see them signing him. Now, to your point, he could still look terrible against live competition, throwing errant passes and picks, if he’s washed; maybe like with luck coming back from the shoulder injury, the colts have to give him a steady diet of easy, short, quick throws.
