New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

Here is a pic of a pressed piece of hash I did without a screen, it just blobbed all over the parchment...

Sorry, I should of used the quote feature for Ester's comment

for rosining hash without a mesh perhaps you could try placing the hash inside a circle of plant material or in between two very thin cakes of bud?

and I haven't read all the posts in this thread, so apologies in advance if this has been suggested...but if you don't have access to a hair iron or hair straightener then you can use a regular clothes iron (or two irons)...with one iron you could pre-heat a flat metal surface then place the bud (inside culinary parchment paper) on the heated surface then apply pressure with the iron.

If you don't have parchment paper or other types of non-stick heat resistant material then don't try using aluminum foil instead as it works, but it's impossible (or at least it was for me when I tried just once) to take off the rosin from the foil, so I rolled the foil into a cig shape, waved a flame under it and inhaled the vapor which got me high.

Damn, this thread is getting long..it's about time for a rosin photo thread, a basic "how to make rosin" sticky and other rosin related threads, but I guess this will happen all in good time!

I've got to stop using exclamation marks as I read somewhere that one of the great writers was quoted as saying "Never use exclamation marks because it looks as if you are congratulating yourself"..I think it was Vonnegut?

i tried this with some west coast dog bud that tested at 26% thc. Off 0.35-0.4 i got a 0.1 dab :)
It tasted earthy/flowery but it had just as good effects for me as a good concentrate. It was my first time smoking after a month break so i got really baked haha My friends did same thing and everyone agreed it had good concentrate like effects but tasted "more flowery" than a good shatter

i also have some keylime cookie indoor i'm going to try using the rosin tech!

I normally do kief, but the other day we did a bud, the rosin was much lighter color and tasted way more flowery by far...

i have only tried a bit of kif, but i found the same. i think the flower rosin is gathering essence from more places than just trike heads. i have heard of microtrikes, and just terpenes all over the place too.

Well couldn't wait any longer. I have a lot of other stuff to do but I went and picked up the press and ss sheets last night and was up till 2 am playing.

I'm using some c99 bx1 from a bud size seperation box that a friend made. The kief screen in the bottom isn't too tight and for sure doesn't give you melt and is a little green but the kief actually looks pretty good and has a great smell, same as the flowers and trim, smells like cheap blueberry muffins, not home made ones hehehe.

EsterEssence! Omg that 25 gram patty made me drool a little! How long did it take you from start to finish to make that? Including prep and collection to pulling off that pic?

Oh and by the way...I tried some flowers with the filter bundle and without. Was super frosty mikado little nugs. Tried 5 grams each time and got nothing!!! They were bone dry, I'll try again later after i moisten them up some. Should I make em spongy or that perfect 60% rh vac seal moisture level?

Just ordered 2 each of 12x12" sheets of 43 micron and 74 micron SS mesh from utahbiodieselsupply.com. can't wait to get them.

I know a company that can sinter mesh, I will solicit them to make custom pouches. I think ss would last longer and can easily be cleaned with a iso soak, brush, and air compressors.

How are you doing your collection? Those big chunks in your tray make me feel like you have a secret tool or technique. Would please share you entire process in detail as I have just done? I think collectively we can nail this stuff and I'll have custom machines being made within a month. Of course all you folk that helped contribute will get a cost + 10% pro deal.

I see you discovered a lot of the same things i did using kief. 30% return i think is a good return. Gotta love the sizzle. I am vertical in a vice with parchment hanging out the bottom 7 or so seconds, move the packet, 7 more seconds or so let it cool, collect, Enjoy...
Nothing secret here, all those chips looked just like your puddles, I just scraped it up with my little tool and put in a different piece of parchment and warmed them while the hair iron was cooling off, pulled the paper through and stuck them in the freezer. I noticed being really thin they were falling apart, so i just collected it again and did the same ting making a thicker pattie with folded edges on the parchment. With a few sacks a couple people pressing with vices, a collector, and of course enough raw material to press, you could make a bunch in an hour...

But how long did that 25 gram patty take to process start to finish?

Do you have an advice to help guide my research? I posted that to help all of us learn. I'm looking for feedback here, it's an egocentric world my friend hehe.

Can't wait to try 350F and 250F tonight! I'm going to run out of research kief soon!

I'll take some macros of the kief and judge the return then but my eyes are very good and I feel like I should be getting more than 30%

I did not do it all in one day , but no more than an hour with one iron and vice, three sacks, one of which is stainless steel. Be careful the stainless screen gets hot quick and will burn you when you remove it. I'm thinking a porta power ram, they will work on their side and some plates, but there again how to keep them hot, and move the sacks for the second squeeze. I think better some close friends, a couple vices/ hair straighteners and a few sacks and a lot of raw material you could do a lot...

I can smell it burning a little if i don't move it once, that's how i came up with the idea for the move. When i put the squeeze on the second time it ran all over...

Have you guys tried milking your Sift sacks yet. LOL

Was playing around with different pressing techniques last night with somewhat broken hair straightener , seems if I clamp one edge of my straightener right tight up with my metal tie I can force most of the Rosin thru the other end of the sack in one fell swoop. Then after the first press I take my gloved hands and re-shape the remaining sift into a smaller ball within the sack then do a quick 2nd press (this goes in my pen)... I am getting a better yield that simply folding the flattened sack in half and re-pressing. Takes a bit more heat.

I would love to see a hydraulic press combined with some sort of heat source and see about pressing a qp of sift at once. The issue I can't wrap my head around is getting the sift up to temp quickly. Induction coils perhaps around the cyclinder

Any luck with your steam roller?

Idk if you guys know furywall on here. I know him off forum and we both were at a political action committee meeting last night and he said when he pressed dry flowers he got 0 yield. I told him I didn't get anything off of dry flowers either. I told him people on this thread are saying you need moist flowers, moist enough to ball up into ugh little spheres. He suggested that maybe the dry flowers absorb the oil just like the filter paper does. Which makes sense to me.

This is with the press vertical? I haven't made any more so you have me beat with yield for one press. When you say 25 grams and three presses into the same collection sachet, is that 3 presses with the same bundle or three different bundles? I tell you 30% is a good yield average. I would moisten a very small amount of kief, don't want to waste it. Collect all that and make a slab with pics. I Think the pressure is a bit of an issue, when i squeeze harder more comes out...
