Pacing and Waiting

Pacing and Waiting

GMT I started reading that, now my head hurts...whew...what a read... I'll have to look at it again when I feeling better. Well I'm still not sure what sex Stepchild is. I looked at the calyx very close today with the pocket microscope at 60x and 100x. What I thought to be clusters of calyx was actually more like crab claw looking resin covered, like aloe tentacles wrapping around the calyx. I can't really get this on camera for a pic(I should have bought the zoom lens kit for my camera, maybe I still can). Droopy has the same thing going on. Queen...poor...Queen she is doing well now but has fallen behind in canopy height and still not interested in producing flowers. More than 50% of her leaves were damaged by the burn. I only remove them when over 75% of leaf tissue is damaged and they are crispy. Some leaves I just cut off the bad finger or two. Have thought about putting her back into veg a couple of weeks and maybe get strong again and sexually mature. The Runt, female all the way. Under micro, Runt calyx look like cigars with two hairs comming out of the tip. I want anenomes.

I like to explain things using alot of analogies, if you haven't noticed(ie the pics on your thread). Then I think "What if they have never seen an aloe plant, maybe haven't seen an anemone." I ought to post it as the "pic of the month" I think enough people would say, "what the hell!" I could crop down the anemone pic and have many fooled...he..he

The Growers Mantra

The Growers Mantra

This grow and all this waiting got me feeling like some lines from The Subdudes tune called "All the time in the world" on the Primitive Streak CD:

Look man,
I'm hungry when I wake up,
sleepy when I eat,
only time I feel good,
with some dirt beneath my feet.
I want some fast food and eat it slow,
I'm gonna have some high times and live'um low.

Yeah...The Growers Mantra....... :headbange

Definition: Mantras (or mantrams) are words, phrases, or syllables which are chanted thoughtfully and with growing attention.

Nothing much to report, got home late. Lights out for the plants. So no pics. Tommorrow I should be able to get a few in. Runt should be featured. The calyx on Stepchild and Droopy still seem like they are male, if they are I need to get them out of there soon, so Runt can sprawl out. Queen is still not doing anything but growing out again, I have a feeling Queen is female, but just behind a little. Now Runt is the queen and Queen is the runt. I hate all this waiting to know for sure. EXPLODE INTO BUDS ALREADY...I put a light over your head, paid your room and board and fill your pot with food and drink...Now make me some buds dammit!!!....
Anyway, much more tommorrow...

Runt Shots

Runt Shots

Growdoc hope everything is cool. Hope to see you postin real soon and that everything is cool my friend(ie bad news thread).
GMT I thought it was you that said it. Last post on your thread said you were uploading pics, I'll check'um out after this. :canabis:
Got a few shots of Runt today, not the best shots, had to shoot them quick, feed her and Queen and put'um to bed. Queen has 1 preflower and 1 nubbin of a calyx. most of her second main top was removed after the damage, that one had most of the other preflowers on it. I looked today and it looks like a hair is popping out. The other two plants are in another room. I might stick them near the light tommorrow, might just put them by the window. I still think they are males. My pH problems have been solved, so hopefully I won't have that happen again. The Earth Juice nutes drop the pH of the water to 5.2. Just 5mL in a gal. So I have been adjusting back to 7.0 and adding liquid bonemeal and lime as well and getting a good handle on using an EC meter.
I'll quote you again GMT "This isn't radio, lets see some pics"

Runt from the front...she's almost too tall...may have to train just a bit

Top Shot

Well you can see one hair on the right(there is two) was white just a little red now

Thats it for now, later

Hiya packn

That's your *runt*????? Yowzer - not runty any more!!!!! :biglaugh: Hope my girls grow up to look like your girl!

Maybe massage the lower stem on your longest branches until they give just a little - to try to even out the height. Or at least that's what I'm trying to do... I just can't squeeze 'em so hard to pop the hurd, jes can't do it :biglaugh: Think I came across this in Caprichoso's LST thread, although I can't find the exact post this morning...

She is looking sweet dude! Not much longer til flowers galore! -MGJ

Update, get yer update here!

I hear ya there Growdoc..This is three days after the flush.
MGJ that's Runt...which led me to a conclusion...the less I try to help them grow the better they do. :biglaugh: here's Cap's thread LST Training In Detail...... I hope those flowers start flooding soon...that's the most exciting part to watch grow, not to mention the fun watching trichomes form.
Well not much to report. Only Runt & Queen are left in the grow. I haven't whacked Step & Droopy yet, they are just sitting in the laundry room with no useful light for now.
Might have to take some pics of Queen tommorrow, she is a really interesting plant. It seems producing three branches per node was not enough. On the lowest branch she's busting out four main branches per node. What is that polypolide or quadpolide?
Runt is getting girlier every day. I did do another blunder and forgot I left the light lower for Queen when I pushed Runt back in so I could close the door for lights out. One of Runts tops was mushed up against glass. I'm lucky that hood works so well, only one finger on one leaf got sizzled, just at the tip.
I pinched the hurd on all of Runts top tops today. Man she is getting tall already 30"(76cm) from the soil. Her leaves are more pheno like sativa now, Thinner width fingers, 9 and 11 fingers and doesn't want to stop her vertical growth, I'm running out of room. More tommorrow.

Yes, that's very true. I learned that lesson growing bonsai. In my hands at least, the less I do the better they do :biglaugh: , an occasional pinch or prune and water. Now if I can just learn to do the same with my girls  !

Your girls are looking great! -MGJ

Thanx MGJ!
Sorry no pix, I was doing domestic stuff and posting all over this place. I did get to do a riverboat dance jig today. Queen is 100% girl! "Congratulations It's a Girl. (Hopefully 2lbs-5ozs)." :canabis: :canabis:
So it's just Queen and Runt now, Stepchild & Droopy are on deathrow. No light, no water. Thought about doing clones, but I have better things planned for the near future. I might go get this aeroponic cloner I had my eye on and practice with it though. :chin:
My question today is can I top Runt still or will I lose too much yield in the long run? I'm quickly running out of vertical height and hurd pinching is only slowing things down a little. This is 15 days at 12/12. A few calyx here and there, no clusters yet. :chin:

I noticed the plants odor is beginning to change the girls are getting a skunkish smell. The boys...smell...like....well...piss. Just an observation. :chin:

In 1 week your plants will start to slow down the vertical growth, try bending the plants outwards by putting down pressure on each side branch to make them wider, you may aslo keep bending over the top until 3 weeks from finish... if you dont understand let me know and i will try to explain it bettter...

While I was trimming Droopy today, finally found a female flower. Had already trimmed a few branches when I found it. I think she'll pull through:

Make a wish!

Make a wish!

Thanks for stoppin by BBB...and the comments.
Well I just had another traumatic accident. I had Runt in training tiedowns, I heard an uncomfortable sounding snap. Right at the original topping node. The main kolas stems split apart at the node like a wishbone. Thankfully not too bad. I tied them back together. They could both still stand on their own weight, but I dont want to take any chances. I found Runts pot bone dry, so I watered today. She's drooping all her leaves. I have never had any any probs with Runt till now. I was conservative with the water, not even any runoff. I've been going real light on the nutes. She drinks it all up in about 2 1/2 days.
In Droopy's pot I pulled him up by the main stem and the entire pot came up as one rootbound piece. Lots of roots up the sides and the bottom. I have about an inch of straight perlite in the bottom of the pots. The roots were holding on to that as well.
Queen's doing much better now.
Like sands in an hourglass, so are the days of my grow....

Hey packn

Lovin your sense of adventure man! You don't pull any punches popin the hurd :biglaugh: - sorry - couldn't resist.

I've had worse happen to bonsai, and survive. Rafia is great stuff for branch repairs. Even if broken - if you can fit the pieces together like a puzzle, you can tie and salvage the plant with rafia and a little wound salve.

I hear ya packn, a couple hurd crushes left some branches like limp noodles, just supported them for a cupla days and all is fine.

And be nice to Runty - she ain't so Runty anymore!!!!

I'll have to check out that Rafia out. I think Caprichoso said honey would work in a pinch. Hope she's gonna be OK, it was right at the apex of the main stem between the main kolas. I don't have anything on the wound right now, but it did fit back together like nothing happened. maybe I'll get lucky and will be writing a thread about hypercropping :biglaugh:
Wound salve? Do the HW stores sell that?

I've done that wishbone thing myself Packn. Just put em tight together, get some damp bog roll, wind it around the split in a bandage type of way and use string to offer strength support to prevent resplitting, then wet the bog roll right through. It'll stop the split from drying out and help in the repair.
As for the erm trim on droopy, you could always just take the head, and use it for experimentation, ie, cloning practice, just a thought.
