Lacto Bacilli: process and discussion

You think so JayK? This is yeast. Smells great. No film, no sour, nothing like what has been described or that other rice washes have smelled like. I've smelled the sour before...

Seriously, I believe that the yeast has taken over. I'll add to milk for shits, but this isn't the sour-smelling filmy mix .

jack you dont even have to let it soak, just add the rice, add water, shake, strain and go to the next step.

I fed the BSF's with the rice so not a problem.. I'm sure you are correct on the quick rinse.

keep in mind everyones rice was is collecting different microbes. we all live in different places. the milk is what selects the LAB out of all the others.

i have had the same thing happen that you describe, same smell. keep going you dont know you have failed until you at least finish. which i highly doubt you failed. if by any chance at the end you dont end up with perfect results, it cost you little to nothing and used a small amount of your energy and thought.

Yep, I added milk a couple days ago (like you suggested). Also started another batch, but covered loosely as per original recipe.

I want to give my medium a LactoB dose before seedlings go in.

Thanks!

its ok i understand. when i first started getting into things like this i a bit skeptical. and also afraid i would do it wrong and end up breeding "baddies". but then came to realize its so simple as long as you follow the instructions and let nature do what it needs to do.

after LAB, culturing BIM(benficial indigenous microorganisms) is A LOT more fun. its exciting searching through forests for spots with above average health to collect those microbes. culture them, and then apply to your garden/soil. for now stick with the LAB, youll have it down in no time.

i like to drench the soil with lacto B a week or so before planting.

It would be really excellent to have a little terminology guide.

LAB, BIM, BSF's, LCE, AEM, EM, serum, culture, PnSB, WSGB

Let me say first that this is a verry useful thread and jay did a great job with the tutorial. This is how my milk looks like after 6-7 days. The milk residue is on the bottom and top also.Do you think I should strain it or will it rise to the surface?

that yellow serum is what you want. take the other stuff and toss it in the compost.

I have LAB, JK. Just wanted you to know. Took a day and a half and the protein / fat separated. Nice yellow serum.

Thanks

Could someone check my math, please? I have the yellow serum, and I'd like to use in my medium right away. 20:1 dilution with water and I'm good to go?

EDIT: I dilute 20:1 and THEN further dilute 4 tablespoons in a gallon of water? Wow, what a dilution!

JayKush:

Tomorrow is the day I'm removing the Carbs/proteins. The water is a nice greenish yellow and going strong! I took a couple of extra days because I had to wait and it had no negative effects whatsoever, so more than 7 days is a-ok.

Any reason not to take 1.5ml - 3ml of raw serum and add to a gallon of water? I believe that's the math. That should work, eh?

I realize it's right there. That's where I got the math. I think that math is right.
