Im sure its in this thread somewhere but I read an article that stated LAB will eat the dust and dirt off your leaves.

that was in the original article from gil.

I find it really hard to find any info on LAB and gardening use

there was even less when i started doing this, that's where experience beats everything else. trial and error :)

hey all- great thread. I'm in the final stage at day 14 after adding milk and the solution is still cloudy but not yellow and its been at least 7 or so days since the 2% milk separated. Does it always turn yellow?

thanks jaykush. i've used subculture in the past and i know that you can tell if you have good microbe activity by putting a tsp of molasses in your bucket (i do dwc) and seeing if there's a ring of foam in the morning from the microbes eating the carbs and releasing a little co2. do lacto's do this? i did read in the thread about using molasses as food stock if the lb's are not kept in the frig

just finally read threw this whole thread, amazing amount of info in here and i thank everyone who contributed!
any ways, i decide to take a crack at this and i would appreciate a little guidance...
im at step 6/7 and i wanted to know if the pure lactic acid bacteria serum (not mixed w/ molasses) be used in compost or plants(diluted of course)?
here's some photo's, (step 6)

i made two, using slightly more milk in one. i also fed the top to some of my kats, who seemed to enjoy it. the rest went into my worm and compost bins.

here's the pure lactic acid bacteria serum (step 7)

(step 8?)
so do i mix this with equal parts of (5-10%mollasses with water) or equal parts pure molasses?
sorry, again i just read the whole thread..im very stoned and a little overwhelmed...
thanks in advance

Hey Darc Mind, I think its like a 1/3 molasses you mix with the pure culture , and i would dilute your molasses in water first then mix em. That seems to be the easiest way to mix them together. Or you could store it in the refrigerator with no molasses added thats the way I do it. Yeah this is a long thread, and I feel it has more info on LB than anywhere else.

thanks spiral & maryjonh
can you, over do it with this!
i used the serum (big pic), diluted 1:20 (w/ water) in my compost and some vegetable plants..i foliar sprayed with that dilution and soil drenched one container plant..
is this going to be bad?
i kind of smoked my self stupid when reading this whole thing

I would expect 1:20 to be a bit strong for plants. Perfect for compost. You gonna ferment some bran?

Ok I got two batches , one LAB serum (no molasses) in the fridge..like spiral does it
And I got another what I believe is Lab pure culture (1:1:20 ratio, serum:molasses:water) in a container, placed on a heat mat.
Should be my last question,
Can I cover the lab pure culture with an air tight lid? Or is it best to leave the container, open kind of.
Thanks much to everyone, this has been fun and im sure my ladies will enjoy this

cover it with some sort of fabric. i think ganja din said he used tyvex? either way it lets it breathe the gases out but keeps a lot from coming in.

I dont think it would hurt them with an airtight lid, LAB are anaerobic. However I would vent the bottle every now and then or better yet get a fermentation lock, just in case to prevent possible explosion.Beleave me it can happen esp. when fermenting stuff. You can find fermentation locks at places that sell do DIY wine making kits.

only reason i didnt say to seal it, is i have had one build pressure real bad, when i opened it i almost had the same explosion i did with the beneficial indigenous micro organisms brew. to me its just a precaution.

a fermentation lock would be ideal.
