Keep in mind, as others across the continent have found, this year was exceptional in the length of the season and good weather. These were chopped on Oct 23, often times we are already covered in a blanket of snow or heavy frosts at that point. So not the norm.Wow Fitzera
Thank you for sharing, it gives all of us all greater perspective on how far North these can run, I certainly did not no, but that is terrific and as you said such little care. It begs the question har far North can she go?
Have you tried her yet?
Again thank you for posting!
They most likely would have been heavier producers had they been tended to, but it appears to me the quality is there! And really that's what matters. One of them smells as I expect Purple Satellite to smell with a grape smell, one smells more skunky with a hint of floral and the third is a mix of the others.
They were hung in a shed but the weather took a steep turn within days, -30 for a while. So they've froze more than dried. I checked on them and brought those pictured flowers home to check out. My concern is that there are some bugs, which is expected from outdoor, but I'm afraid to put my indoor at risk of pests. I'm not sure if the -30 kills pests or just puts them in hibernation.
So those flowers are resting on a wire rack in my garage (unheated) hoping for some drying so I can test them out. I considered the dehydrator but I don't want to ruin them with heat.
