Most people won't notice your guerrilla grow in the back yard if you don't stand there oogling it all day! ja ja!

Just to the left of the previous picture my girlfriend maintains extensive gardens that direct/control/confuse the eye. 😉

I was a young lad in the 70's when I read a book that offered growing suggestions. (A Child's Garden of Grass?) I don't recall.

The author offered a good argument for the hide in plain sight garden.
How to use different heights, large splashes of color, depth perception, etc.
I remember they preferred using Cosmos and training the plants low.

It's been a part of my sop's ever since with great success.

But ya, you can't stand next to them and ogle all day. I agree. 😄

Had an humanities prof that I liked, but he did go on and on about 'directing the eye', in artworks. Should work well in a garden. I think 'arrows'. Strong lines that lead the eyes. Bright warm colors attract the eye, dull cool colors are less attractive to the eye. Also, strong 'resting places' for the brain to 'escape to' when there's too much texture going on.

Nice garden! Yes, I use a lot of zinnias, sunflowers, castor plants. Big and colorful things to catch the eye.

View attachment 19082832 After a great season outside at 42.2N with GMGrape, Mountain Gold and Purple Satellite and even without trying any of the smoke yet I figured I needed to round things out and get the Zacateca for next year. Sometimes ya gotta have a little faith. 😉

Then I saw the Oaxacan Gold pop up on North Alantic. 😮
Hadn't really heard anything so I waited a few days. No official announcements. Maybe trouble with the hurricane?

Decided to just go for it and not miss the opportunity to grab some og genetics in case they were a limited drop from his Skull 79.
Looking forward to next year already. 🫘
Got the Purple Sat and the Mountain Gold in the stash, hehe.

Will the Oacacan Gold be availible in spain? And when?

Thanks

It really helps. 💕
I have to be a bit stealthy but once I figured out the sightline of the Housing development behind us.
I just line them all up behind the large pine tree and only have to worry about the house on each side. 😉
Kind of hide in plain site. View attachment 19127155
Thanks to all for the great ideas for growing outside. Unfortunately, my lot is heavily wooded precluding doing so. I keep trying to convince my wife we need to take a couple of trees down, but you can imagine how that went... :violin:

Good on ya, they're really great strains, my favourites again this year.

Vman mentioned that he was only able to produce enough Oaxacan fem for N America this year, hopefully there'll be more for europe next year.

I still have some concerns about the other half of the Oaxacan fem - I'm a northern outdoor grower, the Oax Skull is well adapted, but has the other half been tested and grown in a northern setting outdoors?

Will be great to find out before but I'll be sowing them anyway, There's some mountain gold pollen in the freezer destined..

Coppicing deciduous trees extends their lifespan.. what species and age? Some like sweet chestnut will coppice as a very old tree, some species reach an age where they wont regrow.. may convince her!

Okay, got another question regarding the PURPLE SATELLITE.

Got one indoor now on day 32. As expected, she strechted like crazy. All good.
She reacted very fast to 12/12 lights and flowered, before this she got 24/24 hours and then 18/6.

Now I see some small nanners on the main bud. Pick ed them up, so that they cant polinate the other stuff.

My questions are:

Are these nanners going to polinate my other stuff? Or are they just sterile nanners?

The other stuff is ready mostly at 56 days. So the other stuff will be in there for another 24 days. (32 plus 24 makes 56)

What is the most commen flowering time indoors for the Purple Satellite?

After how many days you took them down indoors in the past?

Thank you PURPLE SATELLITE HEADS

My exp. with PS harvests is -65-70 days of 12/12. I do get some nanners in late flower mostly in the cola tops and specifically at the tip of foxtails. Mine start out lime green and within a couple of days turn beige-ish and appear to be dried out. I pluck them and have never had a problem with pollination.

If you’re getting them at 32 days you may have dropped down to 12/12 to quickly. I do 18/6, 16/8, and drop another hour every 3-4 days until 12/12.

I truly apologize but as I had to tell ACE it's hard work for an older dude to juggle strains and keep it all flowing clean and up to my standard, especially since I won't ever cut corners. As I worked out with Dubi who has been a fabulous gentlemen and terrific work associate/trade partner, there just isn't going to be enough to get that far. In fact if you are in Europe or UK and you like my work heads up and stock up.
Not great news but still hope that helps!

Hello @bonghopper!
The other half of the Oaxacan Gold was tested out and she finishes out by end of Sept, as I stated earlier here on the thread she was very similar in most aspects of growing fragrance and finish time but again full disclosure! Just not quite as potent as my Oaxacan line but as I stated earlier the potency of the Nepali was greatly improved in Purple Satellite by my Oaxacan line.
Hope that helps!

Hello @SunnyListon!
There is a complete Purple Satellite thread here on IC
. But from my experience I have picked off the nanners from Purple satellite I flowered right into 12/12 years ago never did see a seed but I again full disclosure don't really know if they are sterile. That's why I have always pushed the slow graduation down in light hours as happens outside. That trait comes from the Nepali Sativa which was adapted to growing in Denmark. Where summer peak time is I believe 20 hours daylight?
When I first started growing Baglung Nepali I went 12/12 every one of my ladies hermed! But because she was so stunning I reveged my six first ladies took clones planted them outside in Vermont in Spring

and to my delight not even a nanner!

But what I did get was SUPPER EARLY BERRY GOODNESS!
So that is why she has remained in my breeding corral as a proven winner! Especially combined with Oaxacan Gold
Two amazing pure Sativa in my estimation.
And she finishes in Sept in high altitude Vermont!

Thanks Vman, that puts me at ease, I can really give them a good go then.
I tried out Mountain Gold #5 again this evening, I called it a 'day ruiner' earlier, and wrote it off a bit, but the aromas had me - was lying in the dark and it opened up the imagination 1000x fold, like being a kid, with extra sacred geometry patterns, was really something else..

Not sure if I asked you before, but do you suffer from leaf fungus (septoria etc) outdoors there? More outdoor growers finding this, would be great to start labeling outdoor strains with the amount of resistance they have - Purple Satellite being very high in my experience.

Lovely lookin Cray fish a few pages back, very inspiring work!

Nice to find those early flowering strains adapted to around 55N to early things up. Have you tried any other mostly older Dane strains? They have the early flowering without auto genes, mostly.
Looking at Thyphoon as an early IBL candidate.

Have been messing around with UEL since 2018, but want to see some other early inbred lines for comparison.

Hello @bonghopper!
I have always tried to be as open and full disclosure as possible.
So with that being said a couple of seasons ago we had the rainiest coolest season on record and my Zacatecas Tribute suffered from the first time I have ever seen Septoria hit any of my plants ever. That being said my yield even with my most effected plants still gave me a respectful yield.
Now! That being said I provided a local farm that supplied dispenseries with one of my strains, Green mountain Grape and their fields were riddled with Septoria but I attribute that to serious mono culture and poor cultural practice in terms with over crowding growing in a field that already was riddled with pathogens from over use and again just really poor management.

So, here are a couple recent tests for Green Mountain Grape and Mountain Gold, grown outdoors in So. VT this season. Not my tests, but from a reliable friend. Hope these might be useful to you, vermontman. I continue to get positive comments about Mountain Gold, that I am trying to get out in my community!
Happy New Year to all on this thread!

Hello fellow growers!

Last year i gave a cut of a green mountain grape f2 to a friend to grow outdoor at around 52N. That was about june(?), relativly late for sure.

She was harvested at around the 20th of octobre. A bit too late for this latitude as you can see. She got pretty frosty 🥶 but she survived and finished healthy!

Despite that she finished healthy, with a beautiful grape/berry scent and taste and she provides a friendly slightly confused but still able to focus Uphigh.

She leans towards the purple satellite side imo. I went back to collect the ancestry in this thread, so you can compare directly side by side and tell me what you think.

Thanks @vermontman to share your knowledge, work and genetics! I dont have much money atm and way to many seeds to try, but i am very close to pull the trigger on your mountain gold and purple satellite. Ahhh.. :) enjoy the photos
