Same! Gonna try and hold off on next years seed order until restock (always risky with GM haha they sell out! understandably) but next year will be all GM fems and perhaps an auto for a part of the garden that this year did not do as well (gmg, got no sun once the sun gets low in the sky).
I have been harvesting everything over the last bit, at least 3 days of work to do it. Some budrot, I blame the caterpillars which were a pita and the rain we got recently. But this is a tough env with no water, hoping to get some more water up next year. Aphids on one MG was pretty bad, but that was the only one; that plant had more budrot also. I suspect the lack of water contributed as well to that.
Had a few nights in mids 20s(F) and the plants did not care at all, ran out of light when trimming one day, looked up and saw the aurora, what a blessing.
A few sneaky tastes of the PS (will be sending my full bud reports after cure, probs around Dec at earliest). But she tasted lovely, cherry with a slight hashy hint and a fun up feeling.
Do you do anything for pests?
I ask because that is the next step in my adventure growing this plant.
Some sort of IPM. Preferably organic, I have been looking at sierrea natural sciences.
I would prefer a soil drench vs foliar as I am not certain I can get the undersides of the leaves once transplanted into bigger pots.
However I am open to most anything.

Total devastation from Helene. Plus I didn't do the best job with caterpillars. I rebuild with Zacatecas Tribute F2s next year! And I still have six original seeds remaining.

I have nuked some buds after the storm and they got me to a place I like. Super candy sweet and ZT was the stickiest variety I grew

Here ya go V-man! I definitely owe you a smoke report. I've grown and smoked purple satellite continuously since march '23. Both indoor and outdoor. I like the outdoor the best so here we go.
Outdoor purple satellite smoke report. Grown in soil amended with blood meal, super phosphate and langbenite.
Bud in the jar smells piney, slight berry and earthy. After the bud is ground up it has the previously stated aromas plus citrus and herb. Smoke is smooth and very easy to enjoy. The taste is a spruce like pine, incense and earth. Kind of reminds me of quality pipe tobacco. I smoked about half the joint. Takes a couple minutes to set in. I feel it in my chest then a tingling in my scalp. Start to feel very uplifted and euphoric. Before ya know it your high as a kite. Very intense, heady, and kind of spacey. If I smoke it all day I pretty much just stumble around all red eyed and goofy. Fantastic stuff! Gets me really "sativa high" every time. Not the kind of stuff you smoke and just go about your daily life. Its very different from contemporary cannabis breeding. I highly recommend anyone wanting to dabble in the sativa realm to try this one out.

Mountain gold looking close to done .. plan on chopping her and the Zacatecas tribute this coming Thursday .. green mountain grape might come down tomorrow.. View attachment 19082735
How many days you have on her?
My purple phenos are starting to show purple in the buds but not quite like that! 💜
Have 3 days of very cold nights and then more sunshine. I plan on letting them go a bit.

I do normally, this year I had too much going on and did not; which certainly effected me, how much I dont know! I like to do a weekly spray of 1:1 Neem and Karanja with some essential oils in veg, that helps a lot I find.

This year was basically drought or torrential down pours which is not so good, the plants needed more water than the 100gallon pot could hold and I had no irrigation so that is a big reason for some of my issues. Healthier plants have less issues with pests. It is actually a testament to the plants that they grew as big as they did. I pulled in several pounds overall and so even with my issues I cannot complain!

I actually missed a male and when I cut it, I put two spare gm plants I had (no idea what ones hahah, i pop a few extra every year to share with folks who need em) into that pot and since they were root bound and small and abused (had been in 1gallon pots up until mid August) they were much smaller, they darked up and healed and had no big pest issues since the pot had inherently enough water to support them. My point on this, is that most issues I had were a result of a hard env and no water.

Mine did not even blink at a few nights in 20s, I kinda think they actually pushed out more resin because of it!
Nice! I feel even better about letting them go.
1000019624.jpg

Three frosty nights and then right back to great weather. I'm going to let them ride.
They are part of a seed repo so that was the plan all along. Seeds are at 7 weeks but not showing any browning yet on the bracts covering them.

You mentioned you would be outside.
I use a $10 sprayer from the gro store.
It has a 6" brass extended spray tube with a bend in it.
You can adjust the angle and just reach in underneath and move it around while it's spraying to get the important underside of the leaf.
Keep it pumped up. The pressure makes a smaller droplet. Your spray will go twice as far if you keep it pumped up.

I like purecrop1. It's organic
I start early and spray it regularly for pm and soft bodied sap sucker's. Its rain resistant after 2 hrs
About a week before caterpillars start showing up I add Monterey Bt right to the purecrop1 and just keep on spraying.
Works great! 2 seasons with it now.

And the season marches on!!! I keep taking branches, doing a quick wet trim, and scoping. Figured out the scope works much better on my computer than on my phone. STILL no amber that I can see on any of my girls. Takes a long time to wet trim those large Mountain Gold branches, but will be worth it. Two more days of rain predicted. Fingers crossed for a sign soon!

I made note of these two so I can look into them. Monterey bt sounds familiar - not like I've used it but that I've seen it. I haven't dived down the ipm rabbit hole yet but I've looked around.
Thanks so much for your feedback!
I'll give these a go and if they work I'll just stick with them.
Never thought of using that type of sprayer for the underside of the leaves so thanks for that tip.
Mostly what see around are aphids(they tend to stay on my other plants though), whitefly, leafhoppers, caterpillars and sometimes gnats.

I'm new to growing this plant haven't even figured out my nutes lol. I think I have the general idea now that it's been three seasons but I'm still experimenting, that's probs why I haven't figured out exactly what I want to do.
I know I used to underwater and in turn over water and probably sometimes still do. I typically wait til the plants wilt a little so I know the hydrostatic pressure is low and they are looking for it. I know this helps the roots stretch earlier in life and respecting wet\dry cycles helps with other root issues.
My backyard gets full sun practically 10 hours a day depending on the season so they get thirsty especially if it's hot - this is when I likely run into under\over watering these days. Theres also white walled garage that reflects it back at them. I've been wanting to get various light measurements back there but I don't want to invest in the meter when I don't plan on using it often. It's more for the scientific part of my mind.
So long story short before I make it even longer my environment is probably harsh and I def have watering issues and nute issues lol.

Do you use anything in flower? Do you find using neem effects the taste? I've taken neem oil internally for a sick I couldn't beat and while in the beginning it was fine as I couldn't taste it once I could I had to stop taking it because it made me gag. Now I know it won't effect it to that extent but I'm curious none the less.

Sounds like you need to sub to a few outdoor threads. Look for ones in your latitude if you can. Organic, etc.
I'm not a fan of neem.

And I am not certain this fills the bill for vermontman's request for bud porn, but this was trimmed from one of the test branches harvested on 10/2. About three inches long. Smells like heaven.

Question,
The buds on my clone of Green pheno Mountain Gold have caught up and surpassed those on its seeded mother.
Not necessarily for size but they are decidedly firmer.
My question: is this because the fluffier buds were seeded? Will those buds always remain a bit fluffy?
Or is this a function of the clone/restricted roots technique causing the clone to run/complete faster than the mother?

This is the clone.

Firm to the squeeze

Seeded bud on the mother plant is a bit poofy comparatively. 🤔
Thoughts?
Does seeding speed up or retard development?

Great questions! I for one eagerly await a response from someone who knows what is what. I am only in my sophomore year of (recent) growing, so I am a sponge for knowledge!

In my experience, there is little defense if the plant is lightly seeded or only a few buds are seeded heavily. However lots of seeds suck up energy and will affect bud density
