First time grow (GG #4)

Discoloration is basically gone and they are much happier.

I didn't realize I hadn't raised my lights since they were 6" shorter and they were just getting absolutely slammed with light (found out our nice handy smart phones have lux meters built into them which are very accurate)

Now they are sitting under ~800micro mole and ~52DLI

Also realized my humidity was dropping to low..... 50s almost 45, during their day between 5pm-11am, (I forgot to check my max/min)

Bought a little humidifier and have that runnign during their day to keep humidity @ 60% when lights are on.

sooooooooo many things to learn..... holy shit I'm in love with this hobby.

Learned another thing about the autopot system - yeah the reservoir pH may be one thing but the pH in each pot will be a little different because it slowly feeds into them.

Reservoir was 6.0-6.2 but each pot was reading 6.4-6.6

I dropped reservoir to 5.7 and did a little drain from the bottom of each pot and bled the line to get fresh water from the reservoir everywhere.

can't wait to do a RDWC for my next build...... get that water cycling 24/7 so there's never an imbalance like that again....

I just joined your grow.

Looking very nice. I love your luck with the straight tap roots.
I have put much time into that subject and do nothing but straight root planting.

Lots to learn, but you are on the right track & one of the best places for info and pictures.

You mentioned a power outage. I am no stranger to that.
Take heed, with RDWC you will need to have your air/water pumps on an inverter.
I find fans, a/c & lights as secondary. No air or water circulation... even 20 minutes can end the game.

I have been thinking, with good bug control, the simple system you have now would do the trick.

Photo dump and update

I made a thing - I didn't like how the scrog was only supported in the corners so I went to my local hardware store and built a PVC support for ~$25.
Each pot is @ ~5.9 pH --- Rez is at 5.4 (autopot is super easy to use but the different pH is a balancing game)

DLI @ ~35
PPFD @ ~550
RH @ ~55%-60%
VPD staying @ ~.9-1.1


Friday 8/20 (evening)

Saturday 8/21 (evening) - built the thing

Sunday 8/22 (evening)

Monday 8/23 (morning) - I was trying to tell sex and these look like the start of female preflowers! I think I'll be flipping in the next day or two

Gets exciting when the flip comes close. Nice looking plants there, they look healthy. You will need that trellis for sure, glue can be a flopper. I think the more support they have the better. They do not have to worry about that support and can concentrate on the buds more. The less stress the better. Keep up the good work

I changed light schedule today - I'll take pictures tonight and post an update in a day or so.

One of the plants (front right) is looking a little unhappy from my last pic, I believe I have an idea why and have made a few changes and will see how things adjust (I think it was because I had my hum in tent right next to it, it has since been moved external near a vent so the majority is being drawn in).

Changed rez and adjusted nute levels to 1.5 EC with pH at 6.7 also upped light intensity to 100% so DLI should remain about the same - I'll be measuring my lights when they wake up tonight.

I've read through your post thoroughly and your DM and I'll be taking a look at this Jacks 3-2-1 next time I need nutes, I believe I'll have enough to do a 2nd run.

My plan is to do a single plant under this LED next time with 2x 20gallon totes with one as a rez. I think it'll be easier to control and I'll have additional room to veg and spread her out.

I currently only have a single area for growing but am talking to the missus to let me purchase a 4x8 so that I can use the 4x4 for veg/cloning..... I know I'm close to convincing her, she'll just need to try the homegrown produce first to be fully convinced I think

Nice to hear! The ph you run at is high from what I have seen. Can you give me some insight into your thinking there? 1.5 EC sounds absolutely spot on to me.

Jacks...yes it is the bomb. You are basically mixing 3 parts of pure plant food. The most pure you can get. It is so pure it is crystaline in structure somewhat like when you make THCA diamonds. It takes a very small amount to make a concentrate you can then use just like bottled nutes...easy! The cost is crazy low. I did the math a while back and its like .60 cents to change out my 32 gallon rez. haha. I do add a root inoculant and some hydroguard. It is what some of the Big Boys use..like Jungleboys... I dont subscribe to the hype they roll with but they do grow some sexy pot with just salts.

I highly recommend picking up the extra space to veg/clone and what have you. You will love it. The fire you can produce at home will be better than what you can buy in several ways. You know whats up with it....all of it...everything that went into it. You also get rewarded for the hard effort...that feels great when your toking on your own goods. You can also achieve terp levels that are better. Because you cure it better with care and time. In the commercial game its all about getting the goods out the door to sale. For you it will be about taking the time to make the best of your hard efforts.

I just squished up some of the prettiest glue buds I have ever seen myself in my Nugsmasher...I was not sad to see them press when the golden goo came running out...mmmm.

Hope you do not mind me dropping a pic in your thread. Let me know and I will take it out if you do. I was excited, this run has been my best in over 12 years of growing!! Excited for you to be at the flip...will be watching over your shoulder. Do the Glue proud!!

Hahaha I fat fingered, I meant 5.7 for pH - I'm trying to keep the pots themselves between 5.7-6.1 and because I know I've been having pH drift up I started the Rez at my low point.

I've been testing the pots every other day and the rez every day, sometimes twice.

The rez I've been keeping at around 5.4 after a day or two because the pots like to climb up to about 6.0/1 quickly.

I don't mind the picture at all.... it gives me something to strive for!!

I looked tonight and saw something that prompted a rez and nute change (last 2 pics)

We are on day one of flower!

EC is at 1.4 - added the koolbloom to the mix!!

pH is 5.7

I changed things up and the girl who was angry isn't anymore

I'll be clearing away lower growth in the next 2 days or so I think.

Reduced humidity in the environment today to 55-50 from 60-55 (night to day)

Temps are 73-81 (night to day)

DLI is right around 43

VPD is between .9-1.3

EC is at 1.6

pH is at 6.0 in the pots and 5.7 in the rez


I have lots of airflow so I haven't done any trimming really and unless I see some heavy guttation later, I don't think I will.


The bottom right one was the girl that was angry for a few weeks because of a bonehead mistake on my part.


She has made a huge bounce back and is almost the tallest and best looking one now (maybe some stress is good??), we'll see what happens at yield.

Will be nice to see the differences. Of course these are a bit different with hydro and clones compared your medium and seeds but still be cool to see. At least we are both under LED. Let me know if you want to do some comparison pics...I have let mine again get a bit outta control...haha. From what I see in your pics your have better flower development at this point. NICE!

You're correct - we are on day 7 today with 4 girls in there! I am very surprised by how quickly they are developing - I had asked in Tony's thread how quickly these tend to show and most people said 7+ days and I had pistils start at 6 and some change (maybe I'm getting a little lucky!!).

I'm under a 420W LED so I don't think my engine is quite as powerful as yours but I'm looking at getting a 2nd tent and light after this one(hopefully in the 700-800W range)

I saw your pic moving the new girls in and they looked very big and healthy!

I was thinking of doing a single plant for the next run and training the heck out of her to fill out an entire 5x5 area. Do you have any experience in comparing yields putting 4girls in one area vs having one girl completely fill up an area?

Man you got nice little buds there already!!...miles ahead of mine. Like I said there will be differences with the seed compared to clones. I have ran a single dwc plant in my room. It was a easy grow because it was not so tight. You are going to need more veg time or start it earlier in the tent and let her fill out. I am thinking to fill a space like yours 1 plant from clone may need 50-60 days of veg growth with training, possibly more depending on how it goes.

Your led is nice and powerful. Mine is 640-660 watts max but I hardly ever go there. I love how your are keeping track of the little details. Reminds me of my early days when I would obsess over everything. You are showing some good skills here.

Nice job with the concentrate! Making them is good fun. I used to go through all kinds of processes to get concentrate. I was big into distillate and have all the gear to make it fairly pro style. If you look at my signature pic that is distillate I made. Lots to do and know though. It tickled my science bone a lot but very complicated. I have since simplified to rosin and diamonds. It is so easy to press some bubble or fresh buds and have a great product. I like it better than solvent style extracts now... Been playing around with making diamonds. Have 2 different jars going right now.

What are you using for nutes, please remind me. On track to a nice grow here!!
