Option C, set up a payment plan.

That’s without adding interest.
Hospitals generally charge anywhere from 18% to 30% depending on the state and hospital chain, so the payments would be considerable higher, or the payments would have to be extended for a longer period of time. Some hospitals have become extremely aggressive in their attempts to collect on unpaid bills, especially when it comes to larger amounts. In an attempt to protect their hospital constituents, Republicans have been pushing to make hospital debts immune to bankruptcy, much like student loans.

there is no one else as unable to fight back than immigrants & students/other low income people. "kick 'em when they're sick & down, boys..." it's the American way!

That's what folks use to do before health care.

okay, what percentage of American citizens HAVE a 401k with $100 grand in it just lying around waiting to be cashed out? so every one else should just die because they aren't independently wealthy? got it...

Hardly any. Those that do are not poor or live paycheck to paycheck.

I didn't buy the marxist bullshit years ago, and im not buying it years from now, 100% capitalist... Period.

There's a difference between being a capitalist and living in a capitalist society. Most people are in fact not capitalists. They are laborers.

Switcher lives in Canada. He’s got great healthcare that won’t bankrupt anyone.
I’m extremely jealous.

I still remember the days prior to, when dad had to get a loan from his fathers on 3 separate occasions. Grandpa was worth $3M when he passed in 75. Govt took 2/3 of that though :( They were misers, they didn't throw away clothes, they patched them. He was a farmer...

If you put 8% of your check in a 401k based mostly on high growth index funds for the last ten years, 100k should be the minimum your working with based on where the market is. I paid off my house this year and opened up a Roth IRA on top of my 401k, can only add 6k a year but now I can load up on individual stocks. I also have a regular broker that I use to buy mostly weed stocks.

$20 a month = 41.6 years
$100 a month = 83 years.......

Ill definitely go with $20 a month then

I wish my dad gave me a job.

Get yourself a new daddy.
If you go through any internet “personals” site, i’m 100% sure you find yourself a new daddy.
Just make the headline: LOOKING FOR A DADDY
I bet one of them would give you a job. :D

most people (esp those unable to afford insurance already) cannot afford to put 8% of their paychecks into a 401k. you are discussing this from the viewpoint of someone that CAN afford insurance anyway. and those payments? they are not gonna let you slide by giving them $20 a month (and probably not $100 either), and you will end up in collections & having your pay garnished. does wonders for your credit score...

my grandparents were farmers and worked at a large chemical plant. raised hogs, cattle, trained & sold draft horses, grew tobacco until he found out it caused cancer. they were eat up with money, and gave it all to their kids as they aged so the govt would not get it. not sure how Canadian tax laws work though. hate they lost all that...

Never loan cash to the family.. It's not a loan it's a gift. If you do be prepared to never get that back.
