Hey Cobra420,

I'm from Mexico and my english is pretty bad. So I'll be quick.

I'm wondering if your soilmix is the same all the way from top to the bottom little pot? I'm asking bcuz in the wiki tutorial I read something about to fill the little pot at the bottom with soiless mix pretty packed. Can you show or explain to me your way to do that thing?

Thanks
Tronkyx

OGShaman, Thank you for the compliments!!

Keif, Thank you.

blynx, From what the wife has told me, she enjoys it. I've been on a fairly long break so I don't toke as often as I used to. Honestly, it's been well over a year since I've had a session. I did happen to take a couple tokes the other night just to get a feel for the stuff grown. The first thing I noticed was the taste, it was pretty amazing. Piney with some fruity tones in it. As for the high, I'd say I felt it more so in my body than anything. Very relaxing. I'm going to have to get back into the toking scene so I can really explore this wonderful plant.

tronkyx, Thank you for stopping in. In the little pot at the bottom, (coming out of the base of the inside 5gal) I used perlite as the "wick". I've read/seen people use soil but I didn't feel comfortable having the soil sitting in water 24/7. It has worked very well for me. So for the inner 5 gallon bucket. I have perlite in the netpot up to the base of the 5 gal and then soil the rest of the way up. Hope this makes sense haha, let me know if you have any other questions.

BorisTheBlaze, Thanks for stopping by.

Little update of the cab. The plants are now on day 16 of 12/12. Learned a couple things on this first run that I will have to implement on future runs. So far, I'm happy with what I have going. Still have a lot of experimenting to do to get these scrogs dialed in though.

Thinking about trimming the under growth but am waiting for the stretch to stop. I'm hoping it will be done here soon. I feel the tops are reaching about the length I'd like them to top out at. This is where taking notes would have come in handy the past couple grows haha. Mainly on how much and how long this clone stretches for.

dontstepongrass, I trimmed the hell out of them a couple weeks ago. As of today, there are a few suckers that have started again that I need to get but under the canopy is pretty much cleared.

atk7, everything's going great!! Plants are plumping up as I type this.

Schwarzenbart, Thank you.

Well... now that I'm back from a much needed vacation and a majority of the spring time projects have been completed, it's about time for an update.

The plants got a HUGE trim a couple weeks back. Pretty satisfied with how things have turned out so far. I feel I've learned a TON playing with these scrogs. As of today, they are at day 49 12/12. By the looks of them, they have a ways to go haha.

Went on a 10 day vacation and needed to figure out a way to water while I was away. These plants have been sucking up a gallon of h20 in about 2 days which is the MAX the res they were in holds. So what did I do?? I had some large totes from other projects of mine that fit in the cab PERFECTLY! I got more 5 gal buckets and drilled a couple holes in the bottom and lower regions of it. Then I swapped the inner bucket over to the newer bucket... The root mass growing into the res was HUGE!

By doing this, I could now fill the tote up to the point I normally would but it would hold a lot more water. 4 gallons to be exact. To my surprise, it worked better than I could have imagined. I'm thinking I may stick to it this way since I don't have to water nearly as often anymore.

I had no way of watering the clones in the top so I chucked them into the compost. I trimmed the mother plant down to practically nothing, put it in a HUGE container of perlite and topped it off as well. It survived the vacation and now with it back under proper lighting, should start to grow again.

Now for some pics.

As you can see, I trimmed practically up to the main buds. After last grow, I wanted to eliminate as much popcorn as possible. Trimming that stuff was a pain. If it didn't look like it was going to be connecting to the tops, it got the chop haha. Next time, I plan on doing so MUCH earlier than I did this time that way all of that energy is put into the tops. I'm thinking this is the last time I'm running this particular plant too. Planning on making a purchase to the boo here soon.

love the bucket setup! wonder if i can rum that with coco...

5 gals is a lot of room for the roots to grow. I like the idea of one big plant versus lots of lil ones.

Hey Cobra, hope all is well, havent heard from ya in a while or blessed us with the rest of this wicked grow, (reguardless that it is bagseed) set up is wicked bro! LOVE that scrog over the 5gal<and especially the irrigation bucket system!!! def wanna try this set up with my 150,(to dial it in) PLUS with my big tent via 1000< maybe 4 buckets unda ea..wonder how that bucket setup would work with COCO????? 10gal, Hmmm?? next year, look out for it...! One Love!

Very good work so far Cobra. What strain is that?

At that time, it was some bag seed I had acquired. It would hermy slightly each time I ran it. Nothing too crazy, but unappealing to say the least. That's the main reason for giving it the axe. Smells great, smokes great but would have an occasional seed in the mix. I have been acquiring some genetics over the past month. Should have at least 12 different strains to play around with soon, a couple you created haha. Looking forward to getting some real strains running in the cab/tents.

Thank you. On the coco thing, honestly, I have 0 experience with it. I've looked into it but felt notill is the way for me. I've since changed up the containers. I felt with this type of container, the top of the container would stay too dry, the middle would be ideal and then the bottoms would be too wet. I want a more even distribution with minimal maintenance. So I've decided to go with geopots and blumats for my runs from here on. Reading tons of people having success with similar combos. So we shall see, going to be starting some seed runs soon.

All is fantastic!! Thanks for stopping in. Had some family temporarily move in back then so I had minimal time to spend with the plants and even less for icmag. They turned out great though and I have them jarred up at the moment. When I get a chance, I'll throw up some pics of the finished stuff.

Lot's of brainstorming since then and have made a few minor changes mainly to do with the containers. I'm going with 10g geopots in the cab with blumats and plan on going no till. I'm making the containers in my cab and tents the same so I can move them around if need be. Cool thing is I should still be able to incorporate the scrogs.

After the run, I had to shut down the cab temporarily but the temporary room mates have found a place so the cab's been running again for about a month now. I happened to get a lone bagseed from a cousin who just happened to have one in her pocket haha and have been growing it out. At the moment, I have a huge bushy male plant just doing its thing in there. Haven't had the heart to give him the chop lol. May collect some pollen from it first to dust with in the future.

My goal is to do some seed runs to look for potential mothers. So in a few weeks, I should have the cab filled up again with some true strains and get this show back on the road. Many choices to choose from, need to figure out what to run first. Pretty sure it will be 20 seeds total, probably 2 different strains. Decisions, decisions...

Feels good to be back!! :woohoo:

Hey nice to hear from ya! thanks for the responce,,, I understand change is good, BUT I'm gonna try those self watering buckets based on what I saw you do with em' and ease
of what others are having with them also...but as I saw in some videos you are supposed to put some sort of bag over the top to keep the moisture in...I see you didnt do that..(saw the leaf mulch, but dont think its as effective as a black bag....maybe thats why it was dry to the top of bucket... JMO.) BUT nonetheless, I love the EASE & SIMPLICITY of the buckets...and you put me on to them, so im gonna try em' topped & scrogged under 1000w 4 buckets per light. (maybe drill a bunch of holes in the sides of bucket where the soil goes for more air/root pruning??) I also read up on those Geo pots...seems awesome , but to achieve ease, (self watering) you are going to add those blumats?? well that's where I dont wanna go...dont wanna add all of that to my set-up. Jus wanna water and grow! But if it works for ya, by all means throw up some pics! love to see Geo's in action..

great plans, would love to see the no till.

Thank you. Checked my email and everything will be here this week. I'm super stoked.

I'd totally do it!! When I was using them, they worked very well. I was able to go on vacations again and provide adequate water to the plants. I was AMAZED at how much h20 they would suck up. Handwatering, I'd use maybe a gallon of water each week per 5 gallon bucket, in these pots, the plants were sucking that up in a day haha. They were so much healthier too. I had to poke holes in the res bucket so I could sit the plants into larger containers. Until then, I was filling the res everyday.

My main reason for changing up the system was because I wanted to go with larger containers and no till. The geopots had the best size for my needs. I had found a thread on here of someone who uses similar pots (landscape fabric?) and just sits them on a thick bed of perlite in a deep container. They keep water in the container of perlite about an inch from the bottom of the plant container. The fabric would wick the water up into the soil. I was going to go that route, but needed blumats for the hundreds of cacti I have. So blumats it was lol.

You're right though, I think if I would have gone with a MUCH thicker mulch, the moisture would have been more even. With the blumats, it will still be water and grow, there should be less maintenance on my end. Good luck with your grow and I'm excited to see how the containers work for you.

Hey Cobra420, I love this cab setup. Very clean, well thought out. Kudos man. Are you going to SCRoG again or go back to a SOG style with the blumats? I'd love to figure out an easy and clean watering system for my micro SOG, but haven't been able to figure anything out yet. Plus, for me, watering every 2 or 3 days gives me a good excuse to spend some time with them. But it sucks for any type of long absence or vacation away from home. Keep on keepin' on man, looks awesome!

Happy farming, stay safe.

Thank you! I will probably do scrog again. I would love to do a huge sog but plant count and container size would be my concern. I have 3 x 600w tents in the basement so I feel a sog would be a little much for me at the moment haha. I have been working on making everything universal so I can move plants around all the tents and the cab if need be.

I'm gonna run 10gal geopots no till with the blumats. Honestly, the blumats would work with sog as well, my concern would be container size. I was using 1gal containers, 16 total. I didn't think there would be enough nutrition in the soil for a run. I've never been too keen on feeding when watering. I love the simplicity of a water only grow. Then again, I could always top dress... hmmmm

Haha, I spend plenty of time with the plants in this cab considering its next to my bed in my bedroom lol. Can't help but to constantly peak at them.

Great job in that small space! I'm taking notes and pulling up a chair.

Thank you, this show is about to be starting up again. Pretty much have everything now. Just need to mix up a HUGE batch of soil.

I have all the 10gal geopots needed to fill up the cab and my 3 tents, enough blumats for them all, all the peat, homemade compost, lava rocks, and fertilizer to make over 140 gallons of mix and 12 different strains to play with.

Going to get the soil mixed soon and placed into the 10gals. Let them decompose for a while and then start a few strains. Slowly but surely it is all coming together. I'll get some pics of the process and everything when I get a chance.
