Anyone growing big (4k+) in a rental unit?

Man really 1K is as big as you should go frist one. Even if you dont do so well you can still pull a pound. Then use that to do your crazy big setup. The fact is in USA a 2k flower room with a veg area can do 24 Pounds a year. 120 Gs sound good? Dont get greedy how much pot could you really need? BTW that 120 gs tax free

realistically you would be getting 13-20 pounds a year and unless its kush your getting 45-60,000 a year...(selling pounds at 3,000) rent for a house around 2000.000

2300.00 = 27,000 a year, not including other bills you have..and considering how much time and effort you put into maintaing, harvesting, manicuring..and that math is saying you get 6 cycles a year, and your gonna be busy to get that accomplished.

you really dont make that much unless you have a nice 4k grow op or have og kush clones...and thats saying you have no partner to split everything with because when you do monthly profit calculations for every 2 month harvest you have to divide by 2 twice!

alot of people dont understand when you grow like that and you live there too, no matter how well you can hide it, you cant live a normal life...you cant have a serious girlfriend, you cant go on vacation for long periods, and when you do your constaly worried...you have to live a very private life, lie alot to people, you have to be super smart about it, people are not as stupid as you think.. you have to have a plan on somewhere to keep your cash, because if you keep it there and get busted, or robbed, everything will be lost and will have to start all over from scratch.

listen. run 1000w over bubblers. get the feel of it. then multiply that same system x 4. join the reservoirs together and then you're rockin. it's that simple. don't run 4kw in anything smaller than a 2-bedroom house. ENSURE YOU HAVE CARBON FILTERS OR IT'S GOODNIGHT VIENNA. you can do it. we can all do it. but nobody ever ran a marathon before they'd finished a 1 km fun-run. do a fun-run first. (also man there's absolutely no point in growing 4kw of shit weed, which is almost certainly what you'd get first time round unless you're a blessed-by-the-gods-technical-genius-with-green-fingers, which, by the look of your plans, you ain't. nice and easy brother, nice and easy. too much too soon leads to a mess.

what everyone says is true but most aren't explaining why well.. problems always arise from taking on too much..
because a little thing like nutes, ph,, or what if mites come?? The problems compile exponentially it seems when your going bigger. At the same time.. failing and learning from your mistakes is what lifes all about. That's what should be said instead of harassing you.. now theres a million ways to get this done but heres some insight

With that said 5000k isn't needed right now but you DO what you WANT.. 2-3k would be very doable and easy.. your not doing 5k now so why worry about that anyways.. set the whole thing up(plan ventilation-A/c,co2, seal entire space) as your going for 5k do all the rooms or one that way. BUT dont buy all the lights buy half.. dont buy 500 dollars in fert buy 250.. you know whatever.. the point is you'll have half the outlay, half the work of tending, AND you'll have twice the buffer of heat and humidity(half being used the rest giving you space) so The main problem heat will be less of a concern in case you plan the temp control wrong. makes sense doesn't it.

Now.. many people have had great experience with just using ventilation.. but it doesn't work as well as sealing the room totally with white black poly.. airtight. get a A/c unit that puts out at least 4-5 btus per light 600-1000watt.. you can use large in window unit or a separate house unit.. but the best(i haven't used) is supposed water cooled a/c. So the A/c will keep the entire area one temp then use a co2 monitor to keep the co2 right at 1500 or above. the air in the room will stay the perfect temp even with all the lights in there.
you dont vent air out.. if you want to use air cooled hoods you can.. but I've noticed that one6" fan uses 250 watts .. so you need at least 2 or 4 for your setup.. that's 1000 watts an hour and the air cooled hoods cost a bundle.. except for cool tubes. It almost makes sense to just use a bigger a/c unit , but that's your decision.

You do make air scrubbing easy... just buy a 8" or larger carbon scrubber and the fan that matches it.. and just put it in the room on all the time, pulling air through the carbon and out the fan. just as cheap as any other method, plus your getting great air movement.


Bugs... in a 5k room bugs WILL get out of control unless you take it seriously and prepare well ahead of time.. clean the room between runs w/ bleach , bomb w/ pyrethrin. Have at least Neem oil, some pyrethrin spray, and avid. The reason for this is simple. Put miticide into google ... read articles on mites .. Decide what you think is ethical and sound to use before you get into this op.. the reason being.. is whether you spray em with nuclear chemicals , cig juice or just water.. you need a game plan to assault anything right away. Mites might not be a problem in your area, but something is! your going to need to be prepared on a big scale

Make sure you use calibration solutions for your instruments otherwise your going to trust them and think that something else is the problem.

If you live in cali great go buy clones.. otherwise spend considerable time and effort to make sure your veg room is pristine and producing more than you need.. it seems once an op is running no time is spent on the most important thing. making sure the next run will be even better by having healthier starts. Also like verite was trying to say"Dont put all your eggs in one basket" With a constant supply of fresh veged clones you'll be able to recover any problem with a fresh run instantly

Don't worry your self with 57 strains or whatever.. just one should suffice

(personally you don't need to cut a hole up to the roof, why not create a box using 2x4s and plywood with one side uncovered. build the box so that the uncovered side will fit a window in the room perfectly.. now cut 6"vent holes in to box.. and mount the box.. If you put a shade, or blind in the window it will look normal.

pendog has some great advice and I agree with him mostly. If the guy wants to do 5ooow and asks for help give it to him or ignore it. It is not up to each person to judge and decide what is right. I would agree to let him know it is not as easy as it sounds and some of the pitfalls and some wise experience such as start smaller. It is all true, but if the guy says okay and thinks he understands then let it be. He will find out. Hope he has no troubles with leo or anything else. Make sure to do you electric correctly. You will need subpanels for that sort of power. Also remember your 5000w will turn into 8000w or more after adding ac and the such. Your lack of knowledge is going to hurt and you will learn some lessons that you never thought off. If you run a sealed room you can still vent the lights, just make sure you get air from outside the room. You will need at least a 12000btu ac for 4000w. If you give more info you will get more help. What will the area temps outside be? How many plants? What style of grow? Remember pulling off a 5000w grow can be done by most anyone with a bit of reading and time, but doing it on a monthly/bi monthly schedule continually is a whole other thing. Also doing it and getting good quality that your friend will want is another matter. good luck and think about going with a 1000w and moving up, the people posting were only trying to help.

um... not really! if you were serious about this, you would have done research. you would have realized the large amount of work it takes to do something like this, and seen that the pittance you've spent on it so far is meaningless. you'd have understood that someone SERIOUS about doing this would have logged hours numbered in the HUNDREDS reading, researching, planning, pricing, looking at houses, reading through threads. you'd know that someone serious about this would already know how they were going to grow, what kind of yields to expect, what kind of lights, ventilation equipment and co2 needs, what nutrient regimes to lose, and how to run the power necessary (good luck finding a house that is wired for a 4+k grow lol). you'd know what your medium would be. this information is all out there, and had you been SERIOUS about it, you'd have researched it. imagine if you asked a question, and got one wrong answer, you'd be fucked because you never got a second opinion! lol! this is why you don't come across as serious.

much has been said here already, but it's obvious that you just aren't ready for something like this by the way you talk. there is no shame in that, there isn't a person alive that jumped into something like this alone, inexperienced and uneducated and pulled it off. The reason i percieve people to be getting snotty is the fact that they know this, they've worked, they've sweated, they've FEARED, they've sacrificed the whole way through the long road to get to the point THEY needed to be to do it, and perhaps they see someone asking to be shown it like so much needlepoint is somewhat offensive to them. that and if you look at your own behavior, it can only lead to someone thinking your 1. a stupid kid (or a really stupid adult) or 2. you're a cop.

If i were to offer someone in your shoes advice (and of course thats not what i'm doing) it would be to find themselves a nice little house with a closet, THAT THEY CAN AFFORD BY WORKING. NEVER put yourself in a position where you have to have a harvest in order to make ends meet for reasons of murphy and security.

Buy themselves a nice light, 1-1000 watt or 2-600 watts. buy a nice, easy to use prefab system, probably like an aeroflo or whatever. spend 6 months and grow out 2 harvests, learn to deal with problems you aren't even aware of yet, like how to deal with waste products and leftover medium. spend that 6 months reading up on anything and everything i could lay hands to. and i'm talking HOURS per day of research.

Then start worrying or planning on going bigger. If you show up armed with extensive knowledge and/or experience on how to go bigger and ask specific questions, you'll find worlds more help.
