You know you're in the country when the mountain lions walk past your place regularly, and the coyotes wail in the distant mountains and you can see the STARS at night. And the stench of skunk pervades the air from September through October.

I miss the stars, we use to be able to see them before all the folks from LA came looking for cheap land. Funny how the intercity expands like a plague.

LuckyDawg found a skunk night before last. I smelled it in the middle of the night. Thought I was dreaming. Nope. It was dead in the yard. A Tomato Juice bath helps remove the smell from dogs.

H2O2 and baking soda with a little dish soap works much better than tomato juice and is not as messy. 1 quart of peroxide (3%), 1/4 cup baking soda, and a teaspoon of dish soap. Mix right before using, work into the dogs coat and immediately rinse. Then shampoo. I always keep a skunk kit in the cupboard just in case.

Dog stays outside until he doesn't smell. :smoke out:

We had a mean-ass Arabian gelding years ago. Same problem. He was very aggressive towards the other horses. We gave him away . The person we gave him to said he did OK by himself at their place.

Yeah, that's what he is. Great looking horse but mean as hell. We had a guy with a trailer come two hours away come to get him but couldn't get him in it.we might just say fuck it. Our farm is going to shit anyway. Used to have20 llamas. Now were down to two. Something the farmers are spraying are killing our animals.
