I used to go through a lot of that. Back in the day. I bought up a lot of dairl calves to bottle feed. Then I started buying up nanny goats.

You get a really bad rain and thunderstorm and you lose internet

HAHA!Redneck Mario! but seriously what do you think Stoner?i know youve been around the block(hehe)what do you think?

sounds too destructive & unpredictable to be safely around, but I have no idea what's more humane, and how would you even get close enough to give him an accurate/merciful kill shot?

bit reluctant to bring this up, but if you've decided the horse has to be put down is a horse slaughter house something you'd consider?
they are more experienced at it so more humane(in principle) and the carcass won't to be left to simply rot
understood that some do not like this idea, but the real world isn't always a nice place

Well the thing is we are broke as a joke and really don't have the money to spare to have a vet do it when it can be done for free. I don't like the idea but we tried giving him away and he wouldn't get in the trailer. Our hands are tied really. This is when you know you live in the country

i do hear you
i was wondering if a slaughter house might do a pick up?
they may have some experienced guys that know how to get uncooperative horses into a trailer
but that's just thinking out loud, no real knowledge of this matter

Don't know of any slaughter houses in the area but I'll look into it. Thank you for the advice. Sorry if I upset anyone

you know you live in the country if you wake up and can't decide to go hiking, go to a hot springs or jump in the river.

if you can't find 'em in the Yellow Pages then call the largest stable(s) in the area and ask them.

EDIT:
Oh yeah, and it's time to pick up some spring peepers.......

We have him isolated from the other animals.he has food and water.originally we took him in cause nobody else wanted him.he took a chunk out of our elder horse and we said thats it.unfortunatley we got bigger shit on our plate so nothing has been done yet.my family is stupid and thinks its cool to have animals when we cant even afford to eat ourselves so i dont have much empathy or sympathy for anything these days. i blame it on my family being too stupid and high too much

Well, shithawk it sounds as though you dont have many choices at this point. My one thought about what you have said is that a .223/5.56 round may not be enough to humanely put the horse down. Sure, it will probably do the job but I'd want something a bit bigger just to make sure.
People may think badly of your decision but when it comes down to the nitty gritty it isnt any different than putting down a nasty dog or a sick cat.
We as humans must sometimes take on responsibilities that we find abhorrent when we accept pets or raise farm animals.

thanks Capt. i didnt make these bad choices.im just trying to figure out the right ones at this point.got a buddy who has a 50 cal black powder rifle.cant imagine the horse would feel anything with that.like i said i dont like it but we arent really surviving much ourselves.gotta do what you gotta do.Cest le vie
