a .223 /5.56 is more than you need to kill a horse. my grandparents/parents killed many a hog or steer with a .22 Special or magnum. put it right between the eyes. when it drops like it was electrocuted (it will), cut its throat.

Pigs are fun to raise - they grow fast and are smart as hell.
There’s a farm down the road that raises pigs. They also grow a lot of produce for a stand and their main field crop is potatoes. German family.

I stop there a lot and one time the wife was giving a nursing sow a treat…a box of ice cream sandwiches. Lucky sow and those piglets were as healthy as could be.

you've ever had to shovel liquefied pig shit to help out an elderly neighbor.

In all truth, if you've gotta do it every jahddam day, sundays included, and that's not even 10% of your daily chores. You know you live in the country if you consider releasing them all to the wild, kicking the ass of the last one as they go. They would eat you full, bones included, if they'd have a chance. Some amazonian tribe think pigs are God's first attempt to make humans.
I respect farm animals and believe they have a right to be very well treated, well fed and kept clean and reduce their suffering to a minimum allowing them to complete their lifecycles whenever possible. But it doesn't mean i like them all as friends. My dogs, my cat and my horse i can call them good trustable friends. As for pigs, chickens and cows, 360º vision when dealing with them.

I have a chicken in my freezer but it's a pet chicken that I haven't got around to burying. That might be a country thing :woohoo:

I don't know it it'd exactly country related, I've known people in suburbia who were gun obsessed.

But I notice every time there is something in the news about Gun anything, I try to find more details ... and almost always come up empty handed.

They just say, "semi-auto", and don't say anything about Caliber, Barrel length, barrel twist, etc.
