I'd say go with the auto project. Find some auto parents in the F2 generation and get the first fully auto seeds done in time for this year's outdoor season. Of course there something to be said for doing as much of the breeding as possible outdoors (if an outdoor strain is the goal) but it can be difficult to distinguish the autos from the earlies then, especially with the males.

Yeah. Good call. Am having so much fun with this one. Have been smoking the F1 testers for the last few days, choosing which lines to take forward. The F2 plants will be grown indoors, and I'll select down to just the autoflowers, and discard the rest. So the F3 will be 100% auto. Some will be grown outdoors, guerilla grow. and we'll take it from there... I'll carry on my indoor lines too.

Happy to be growing this again. Sensi/White Label Purple Bud (fem). This made nice hybrids with Blueberry (theres another whole F2 project) and this time I've pollinated a couple of small buds with BSG x Afghan & Sherbet Queen x Afghan. Want to hit this one with White Rhino.

This already has the makings of a beast. Liking the dense bud structure.

...and... a scion of BSG x Johaar. That stuff grows like a weed. It had a rough childhood.

Tonight she's smelling medicinal, soapy, menthol citrus. Slightly eye-watering.

This one is starting to stink. sharp, acrid, fermented fruit and rotten plasticine.

Moved the last Green Gelato clone (RQS, fem), and the last F1 SQxA clone, into flower today. Still got another Purple Bud, 2 BSG x johaar clones, & another C6 to flower out. Ended up with more plants than I expected when I took that last batch of cuttings. And still have a few strains backed up on multi-grafted mums. Could be worse.

MMxJ#2 looking tired. Has been on water for a few days now and is fading, especially the bottom leaves. Want to get these moved on and make some space. Thought I caught a flash of that pale lemon yellow I associate with male flowers, but couldnt get a proper look. Will keep a close eye.

Low-tech veg & moms area. LED floodlights were v cheap, and do the job of keeping everything alive. The 22W I think is just the same light with more power put through it - its hot to the touch, whereas the 15W is barely warm. When I replace it I might get 2 extra 15W.

That's interesting. I do wonder if 2*15W would still generate more total heat than a single 22W even if they are less hot to the touch, I have a feeling that yes. Still a good idea maybe, better coverage, more light, better diode life due to lower power going through them...

Also I wonder how much the heat affects the plants with the heat sink being on top of the lamp.

Yeah, was wondering about that too. I'm keeping a daily eye on them and am pruning as necessary, but the heat from the 22W cant be great for them. 3 x 15W would be better in terms of coverage. Shot myself in the foot a bit with the rough frame restricting light. Could sculpt it a bit maybe. Refinements for next time.

Took a small bud of the F1 Medical Mass x Johaar #2, which looks close to finishing. Drying now in a dehydrator at 55C for a few hours to test. Characteristic Johaar lemon/chem terps seem to have carried through, similar to the BSG x Johaar. Johaar terps have dominated in all the crosses I've grown out so far (with Medical Mass, Dance World, Nitro Lemon Haze, and Bagseed Gelato).

The Purple Bud x Blueberries had the same "messy" bud formation, and similar fan leaf deformation.

Medical Mass scions on the F1 SQ x Afghan have very similar bud formation - hard to tell apart visually, I thought for a bit that I had messed up the graft and re-grafted SQxA onto SQxA, but different terps. Medical Mass is softer, sweeter. SQxA more pungent. The BSG x Johaar scion on the Green Gelato is a monster - will make a great scrog plant. I have a couple of backup clones :)

The Purple Bud from White Label looks great but it's not really living up to its name. At least not yet.

You said you've grown it before. Did it go purple for you then?

It showed a few touches, but not properly purple. I think it needs cold to show its colour...

Nice and crowded! :D

Yeah. I do pack em in... there are a couple of plants in the shadiest bits just waiting for their moment. Will be harvesting the MMWR#5 in the next couple of weeks probably, and the older Purple Bud isnt far off... so space will open up. But maybe I got too many in there. :smoke:

Away overnight and the plants were fine. Simultaneously relieved they were fine and a bit put out that they hadnt missed me. Heh. LITFA is always an option.

The Green Gelato has been starting to get some yellow lower leaves. A few days ago I added extra coco on top (the pot was not full, and I'd noticed drained very fast) & upped the feed: 3ml Canna A, 3ml Canna B, 2ml Biobizz Bloom. Water formula still the same: 5 parts tap water taken down to 5.5 pH with nitric acid (3ml Dutch Pro pH Down per 4.5 litres of tap water, and 1/4 tsp epsom salts) / 7 parts rainwater.

Everything flowering lovely. Bloody marvellous to see.

Started cracking into the Medical Mass x Johaar #2. Needs to dry a bit more, so its harsh still. Nice lemony putty scent on the fingers. Sticky. Calming stone. Happy zombie chill.

While I'm still most impressed by your Purple Bud it did make me revisit the now-decades-old "is Sensi really selling what they claim" question.

Not just because of the color but also because of how different their catalogue photo looks at first glance.

But then when you look more closely and realize they have a photo of some huge main top, and you look around the edges you can see that there is actually similar foxtailing going on, with actually really similarly shaped bracts as in your photo, which I suppose is of a smaller side shoot. Also the leaf finger shape is very similar indeed.

I think I will give Sensi the benefit of the doubt and say that it seems like they are legit. Probably just need the cold temps for the color. In fact they even say so in the description "Low temperatures will actually encourage the plants to become more purple as flowering progresses, resulting in a colourful harvest of dense buds".
