"some thing needs to explain how this super highly contagious shit is not infecting masses of people that are ignoring distancing rules like it aint no thing."

Easy answer.....cause this shit ain't deadly.

https://www.statnews.com/2020/06/26...-attacks-like-no-other-respiratory-infection/

I am not aware of any other virus that attacks the Ace2 pathway. This makes the virus very deadly. Ace2 receptors are found in the lungs, kidneys, liver, GI tract, the heart and blood vessels. These last two are responsible for the heart attacks, strokes and various clot related injuries done by the virus. Micro clots can form and do damage days, weeks or even months later. Younger people are also affected by these vascular attacks.

And per our earlier discussion, covid19 is 30 times more deadly than the flu.

PS.(not worthy of a separate post)
It should be added that the mortality rate is very dependent on hospital/ICU load. When hospitals become overwhelmed with too many patients, the mortality rate increases very quickly. Thus, the 3% mortality figure seems to be under ideal conditions.

Again, if it were this deadly, your death rate would not be 0.03. We shall agree to disagree on the 3% thing. Protests going on all over the US, beaches crowded, people up close and personal, wearing no masks. Noone is dying. Infected, maybe, but business as usual. Herd immunity as far as I am concerned. Let's keep it moving.

Yeah, and you can buy what I'm selling, or refuse. Your choice. Wear your mask if your immune system is compromised. It's all good.

And to answer your earlier question, yes, that was my apology. That good by you?

Just curious, in your opinion, what would the mortality rate have to be to be considered serious and worthy of mandatory public health precautions?

thats description of life, is so sureal for me, i know its true as i been following the news. thats what i just don't get, why is it so different?

its horrible the way masks become political instead of common sense based protective tool they are. but i do wonder how many are not getting sufficient fresh air and sunlight weaking their immune system resulting in covid messing them up.

so you personally know 2 cases that got it again?

man i don't even know 1 pers n that had it officially. a few like myself think they had it, but tested confirmed i nor my friends in rl know anyone thats been diagnosed as positive.

anyway the fact the antibodies go away is normal when you are finished fighting off the virus. but your body has a t-cell related way to remember how to create the needed antibodies. thats the theory anyway.
I think it’s as simple (and complex) as this: we live in vastly different societies: we were once more like you, before the extremists took over the GOP and turned it - and their voting base - into the John Birch Society (no lie, I spent a lot of time with and around Birchers back in the 60s when they were a hair-on-fire fringe...learned a lot they probably wish I hadn’t) *AS* a major political force. They’ve traded their anti-communism for a focus almost entirely on the well-funded and well-provided-for. All “business”: of the “own everything and extract every dime” variety. We used to worry about inflation, but not anymore, we worry about the skyrocketing prices of EVERYTHING that really began seriously during 12 years under Reagan/Bush. Prices go up because THEY CAN: there is no restraint, there is no concern for the customer unless the customer is a monopolist, a megacorp, or transnational. The renter, the purchaser, the small-business owner can and do and will get screwed...until they can be bankrupted and made destitute...desperate for ANY job - doing ANYTHING - for ANY pay, or even NO pay, just...don’t make my family sleep in the rain, don’t make us starve, don’t make us freeze to death...I was once proud, self-respecting, but now I’LL DO ANYTHING to keep my family from dying!!!

They want their servants back, and they don’t want to have a conversation about it again.

Yes, I personally know two real-life people, not internet people, who tested positive for covid, who reported being sicker than they’d ever been, who got it again two-three months later: one, a doctor and avid outdoorsman; one, a writer who runs marathons and is a keen gardener; one reported the second round was worse than the first (back to the disappearing antibodies), the other recently announced testing positive again, and feeling awful already.

I understand, most antibodies are produced on demand; immunization keys the immune system to recognize and attack specific germs/virus; I remember getting booster shots for tetanus and typhoid, because over time, that ‘key’ would be lost. But catching it *again*, so soon, shows that the immune system hasn’t really worked out how to fight it - there’s no “profile” for the antibodies so it’s a scramble again, not the focused response we’re accustomed to.

We hear about the masses of unmasked gathering together, but we don’t track and we don’t test because - at the appropriate level - we don’t care to. And we don’t hear as much about the millions who are still isolating, still concerned for the health of their children, parents, customers, friends - the empty roads, the lack of rush-hour traffic, the struggling small businesses that get little to no traffic. It really is a shame that they were able to turn it into “He-Man vs SoyBoy”, and ironic: the unmasked seem intent on giving it to each other, and to catching it themselves...and they are almost entirely in the pro—Trump camp.

Brilliant plan, mister president - especially in the most agitated election season of the last sixty years. How about you dismantle the postal system while you’re at it? I’m sure no “real conservatives” will object to such a blatant strike against the plain language of the constitution...after all, it’s just a piece of paper....

Sorry, I seem permanently long-winded....

See my comments about reproduction rates.

You ignore the elephant in the room: cases vastly overwhelming the number of hospital beds, overwhelming medical facilities, and people dying - of covid and other things - at an ‘artificially’ jacked-up rate due to sheer numbers competing for treatment/care.

You also ignore the recovery rate. It’s taking sufferers longer to recover than in any sickness I ever even heard of (except polio - which permanently damaged most of those who didn’t die outright). A LOT longer. Where I am, there are several thousand confirmed cases since this thing started...and the death rate is, really, very low - a few dozen...but NO ONE of those thousands has recovered, and all the hospitals are at capacity...and new cases are rising faster than at any point in this mess. And no one is recovering.

Do you know the difference between herd immunity and a massive die-off that threatens an entire population? Maybe you do and just don’t give a shit ‘cause you believe you’re “tough enough”? What country are you in?

***UPDATE: forgot to mention: nationally, new cases outnumber recoveries 3 to 1 daily, averaged from numerous reporting sources.

Ok....keyword here "death rate is, really, very low". I truly shut down after those words because they're useless to me. "Cases overwhelming hospital beds".....WHERE? Not where I am. Then, you go from "low death rate" to "no one recovering", BUT no one is dying, which will further lower the death rate. Keep your mask on and you'll be okay. ;) BTW, I'm right here in the good ol' US of A.

thats really interesting, but doesnt really explain the main thin i was comenting on.

i don't understand how you can personally know 2 seperate people that got it twice. the ministry for health here says thats incredibly rare. we also don't have more then 1 in a million cases of schools being involved in break outs. kids up to 10 are considered to be practically imune and their schooling has been normal again for months and months. older kids are back to full classes for a few months already too.

of course we were never locked down like a lot of people were, so no one except the elderly stop doing their walking and jogging etc. people still went outside and got vit d. so maintained relative strong immune systems, while places like spain the locked everyone in their homes for months on end is now suffering a second surge and new lock downs.

take vit d and c if you can not go outside folks, even just for the flue it strengthens your defenses and increases your chances of getting a milder version of covid. autopsies show, low vit d levels are often found in covid death cases.

not sure if a lot of cases are hidden due to lack of testing, but if they are, they are assymptomatic and anyone they have contaminated has also remained assymptomatic, otherwise the case would pop up in the numbers and conntact tracers would be warnning folks.

we now have a bluetooth based app that is totally secure and private, it keeps all the data on the phone. it only keeps it for 2 weeks, and if you were close to a person who then tests positive, the app just tells you to get tested. no one finds out who they got it from. took them a while till our pryvacy ombudsman was happy with it being introduced.

Any controlled studies outside a hospital environment? And how do we force people to wear the correct masks, correctly?

be careful what you say, many eu nations are starting to fine people hefty amounts of money for not wearing them out in the street in the middle of the day. they are not happy with public transport and venues. now they want you to wear it while chilling in your garden even. this whole mask thing is being abused to encroach on privacy. cops are peeping over garden fences to see if you have neighbors visiting and or if masks are being worn. f'ed up. at least make it half way science based. instead of using it as a symbol to see who will bow down to anything in fear even the ilogical. so happy i live where i do. very logical and practical people the swiss. famous last words eh, lol.

Personally...i just slam hard booze to kill it. Thank you Anthony Bourdain. If its a good enough tip to ward off the pukes/poops from eating some weird shit its good enough to kill a virus.

In serious news, first day of school was today. The virus sucks, but having given everything very very serious consideration, I back kids going back and ideally full time. Considering what I saw last year with it, some parents are just shit, those kids need school to meet basic needs like eating meals and they need the structure of someone trying to teach them as it just didn't happen. My area is nice and many families are opting to just hire private this year, that sucks if you care about society at large as kids with an advantage get to move even further ahead. Man I could rant on the topic.
