As others have said, 3% expressed as a decimal is 0.03. Can't believe there is argument about basic math.

And just wear a mask. What's the big deal?

1) getting hit by a car isn't contagious

2) pretty sure the economy would not be ok if we DIDN'T shutdown and all those people died, plus the lasting effects... the stress on our healthcare system alone...

Which makes it 3.1% death rate, not a 1 in 32,000 chance of dying which you said previously. Your calculations are correct but 0.031 is a way of expressing 3.1%.
From what I have read that is not right either but anyway...

It's your 1 in 32,000 chance of dying assertion that I object to. If only 1 person every 32,000 dies then the infection rate would be deaths @168,852 x 32,000. Calculate that.

In that case 3 would be 300% because 1 is 100%.. Someone correctly said it a page or two back.

0.03 is 3%. 1 is 100%
For 0.03 to be expressed as a percentage you move the decimal twice to the left but you have to do the same to the 1 so the 1 becomes 100 (%), you can now talk percentages. 3 Deaths per 100 people, or 3%.

Most rightly believe 3% is too high as we are only talking percentages of known cases, not asymptomatic cases than may be largely unreported.

Still, wear a mask. It's no big deal and you might be saving someones life.

I.e - 15% of 100 is the same as 100% of 15 , 50% of 90 is 45 , and 90% of 50 is 45.

i've only ever heard of AT MOST 60k deaths in the u.s. in one season for flu. we've got like what? 170k now in covid-19 deaths? and that's WITH social distancing and what not.

and nobody has been able to demonstrate that we are over-doing the death counts by any statistical significance. i'm convinced that we are UNDER reporting. deaths in other categories are up, many think it's due to covid-19. we won't know for sure until years from now.

afaik, some of the problems come from too good of an immune system, where your body actually fucks itself over. as i understand it, this is why SOMETIMES hydroxychloroquine CAN work to save lives.

The prob is the no mask people are violent. If a store has a mask policy either use it or dont come in the store. There's s no other option. These dumbshits go in anyway knowing the store has a mask policy. When asked they get violent.

Influenza CAN be extremely deadly, if the strain is deadly. The pandemic of 1918 is proof of that. When 99% of epidemiologists, virologists and other medical experts around the world says to take a virus seriously, people should listen.
As a novel corona virus, we are in uncharted territory. Our understanding of the virus will continually change as new discoveries come to light.

if you are deliberately ignoring mask mandates, and decide to go into a crowded place without one, you are breaking the rules and putting others in danger.
