Etymology
Borrowed from Polish Ukraina or Russian Украи́на (Ukraína), from Old East Slavic оукраина (ukraina), which is most commonly taken to have meant "borderland, marches" in this context, though for about a century now Ukrainian scholars have articulated an alternative theory that it meant "region, country, the land around (a given center)" in this context instead.

you don't even know what is happening on a daily basis. the Russians have been continuously trying to take Kupiansk for months now and have gotten nowhere.
they have been driven out of Robotyne, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka and have been staging daily attacks trying to get them back. unsuccessfully.
they have made zero progress trying to take all of the four oblasts that putler annexed.
